Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 378: Chapter 12 Bloody Skill Competition Arena_1

As the elevator door gradually opened, shouts and cheers formed a massive wave of sound that flowed into Wen Yu’s ears.

At the same time, a high and excited voice could be heard clearly.

”Next up! Please welcome our undefeated general of the Red Stone Arena, Overlord! He will be fighting against the terrifying demonic beast from the wilderness! A Sawtooth Demon Wolf, at Peak Level 3!”

”Please cheer and shout for our two brave fighters!”

Then, the overwhelming noise grew even louder.

”An arena?”

”Yes, sir!”

Claus, who was standing by his side, began to explain.

”The Red Stone Arena is the signature feature of our Red Stone Hotel and is currently the hotel’s most profitable area. Moreover, the entrance fee to this arena is very low, just a single Level 1 magic crystal. The majority of our profits come from gambling services.”

”Oh?” Wen Yu directly raised an eyebrow. ”Game-fixing?”

Claus shook his head firmly. ”No, our matches are real. We never conduct game-fixing. However, I do have a large team of odds actuaries who make calculations to ensure I profit.”

Wen Yu nodded in understanding.

Continuing, Claus said, ”Sir, we have prepared a special box for you. Follow me, please.”

「...」

The box was not small and provided a wide view. The large, transparent glass window not only isolated the outside noises but also offered a panoramic view of the entire arena.

A giant display hanging on the box’s wall provided a clear close-up of the fighting stage. The huge, comfortable sofa, exquisite solid wood coffee tables, fresh fruit, and high-end red wine all displayed Claus’s sincerity.

Two beautiful young female servants stood at the box door, ready to attend to their special guests at any moment.

Seeing this scene, Wen Yu nodded in satisfaction.

”Not bad.”

Wen Yu’s ”not bad” wasn’t just in response to the exceptional environment of the box, but also referred to the overall format of the fights.

Bloody battles, filled with heated passion and excitement, always seemed to cause an inexplicable surge of adrenaline within him!

”I’m glad you’re satisfied, sir,” Claus said respectfully.

After casually settling on a sofa, a nearby servant respectfully poured Wen Yu red wine. Wen Yu watched the bustling scene below and, as if unconcerned, casually asked, ”By the way, are there any divine beasts around Las Vegas?”

”Divine beasts? What are those?” Claus asked, puzzled.

Wen Yu’s thoughts paused.

For Humans, divine beasts were an appellation even more mysterious than a regular sequence.

After thinking for a while, Wen Yu decided to phrase it differently.

”I mean extremely powerful mutant creatures.”

Wen Yu’s original plan, other than the outpost treasure land, was to immediately find a divine beast as a soul pet for his 5th Soul Realm. But plans never keep up with changes! Now that he was stranded in America, this plan to find a divine beast as a soul pet was definitely not going to change! The combat power of divine beasts was visible to all! If he couldn’t find a divine beast, Wen Yu would rather keep his 5th Soul Realm vacant.

Claus, however, pondered for a moment before shaking his head. ”I don’t know. There are hardly any powerful mutant creatures around Las Vegas. Even if there were, I wouldn’t dare to venture near them.”

Wen Yu nodded and took a light sip of his red wine.

Down below, the preparation for the next match—Overlord versus the Sawtooth Demon Wolf at Peak Level 3—was complete.

「...」

The man called Overlord, a burly African-American man with a robust build, his fists the size of sandbags showing bulging veins, was shouting and yelling rampantly on the stage, wildly flaunting his wildness and strength.

With just a glance, Wen Yu had discerned that he was at Peak Level 3.

This was a sort of relative level suppression—the powerful can easily gauge weaker individuals’ approximate strength through their heartbeats and blood flow rates. Of course, it would be a different story if the weaker individual were a professionist with special abilities.

The stage was not small and was designed similarly to an Ancient Roman Colosseum. Various protective devices were installed all around it to ensure that the mutant beasts could not run into the audience area.

Just as the man called Overlord was bellowing, a large iron door on the other side of the stage screeched open. Then, a mutant wolf, five meters tall, slowly emerged from within.

A strong smell of blood instantly pervaded the entire arena, briefly quieting even the monstrous shouts from the crowd.

A mutant creature at Peak Level 3 was an insurmountable terror for most of the audience!

Claus, standing next to Wen Yu, enthusiastically explained, ”Overlord is one of the ace fighters in our skill competition arena. His strength is quite good. And once Overlord advances to Level 4, he will join Yang Hong’s main team! Actually, most of Yang Hong’s team members have fought in the skill competition arena before.”

”That demonic beast’s strength is also very formidable. I spent a great deal of money to buy it from Yang Hong. This skill competition is a life-and-death battle. It’s been advertised for a week. Sir, wouldn’t you like to try your hand and place a bet?”

Seeing Claus’s smile, Wen Yu glanced down casually and slowly shook his head.

”If I were to try my hand, you’d die of heartache.”

”Haha, sir, you jest.”

Claus chuckled, not pressing the matter.

Because Claus understood one thing: when it came to wealth, he very likely couldn’t compare to Wen Yu. He then changed the topic, ”So, sir, who do you think will win this skill competition?”

Wen Yu gently swirled the red wine in his glass. ”That fellow called Overlord is doomed!”

「...」

The battle began quickly.

Overlord’s strength was indeed considerable. His fighting style was extremely aggressive, and his combat experience was quite outstanding. Within a short time, he had already bloodied and battered the mutant wolf.

Claus, by Wen Yu’s side, said with a smile, ”I haven’t told you yet, sir, but in my skill competition arena, Overlord has dispatched three Peak Level 3 mutant beasts. All were crushing victories because Overlord’s skill set is very well-suited for single combat. It looks like you’ve miscalculated this time, sir.”

Wen Yu smiled and shook his head, his expression extremely serious as he stared at the passively beaten mutant wolf below, then lightly sipped his red wine.

”How many days have you starved it?”

The voice was very soft, and Claus, not hearing it clearly, asked, ”What?”

”Have you seen its eyes?” Wen Yu changed the topic.

Claus shook his head in confusion.

”Eyes are the windows to the soul. Through them, one can see many, many things. From the moment that wolf emerged, I knew that the professionist called Overlord was one hundred percent doomed.”

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s words, Claus immediately chuckled, ”Sir, you really say interesting things. That’s just an animal. Their eyes only hold killing intent and rage!”
