Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 299: Chapter 89 Departure_1

”Abroad.”

Lin Haifeng’s two words explained the entire situation. Wen Yu understood immediately.

In the early days of the apocalypse, human civilization hadn’t collapsed overnight. There must have been communication between countries. It wasn’t strange at all that Lin Haifeng could contact officials in other countries!

Instead, Kuangliu frowned and asked, ”Relying on them, who owns that device?”

”Ours. It all comes down to interests, and now we hold the initiative.” Lin Haifeng sipped his tea calmly, evidently already having a firm grasp of the situation.

”Then we can give it a try. And...” Wen Yu raised an eyebrow at Lin Haifeng, which made Lin Haifeng give a wry smile.

”You’ll get your share of the benefits.”

”Then I have no problem!” Wen Yu stated definitively.

If powerful experts of such caliber—more than five from the top ten of the Sequence—couldn’t even seize a Demon Qi Shield Generator, how could they possibly contend with the Demon Tribe?

Kuangliu, however, pondered for a long while before slowly nodding.

Seeing their reactions, Lin Haifeng smiled. ”Then there should be no problem!”

After a brief discussion, Lin Haifeng was the first to leave the conference room. Given Lin Haifeng’s status, there was indeed no need for him to take any risks in this treasure land.

In the vast conference room, only Wen Yu and Kuangliu remained.

Wen Yu first sized up Kuangliu. His gains from the battles outside Demon City were not insignificant. Of course, Wen Yu couldn’t determine Kuangliu’s exact physical attributes, but he was certain they had undergone a leap in improvement!

This was what truly troubled Wen Yu.It was predictable that these top-ranked powerful experts would have a much easier time advancing than he did.Although his own class, Soul Master, ensured he held a significant advantage in battles against those of the same level, unfortunately, in terms of advancement speed, Soul Masters required several times the resources of ordinary professionists.Of course, his speed of acquiring points was also several times faster, so it was hard to say whether this was a net positive or negative.

As for Kuangliu, he certainly wouldn’t understand Wen Yu’s current thoughts.

He took a communicator directly from his space ring, spoke briefly into it, and then said to Wen Yu, ”Xiao Xue will deliver the magic crystals shortly. Afterward, I’ll make arrangements and assign you a few capable individuals. That should lighten your workload a bit.”

Wen Yu nodded. These matters were best left for Kuangliu to arrange. As for himself, he could only promise to do his utmost.

A short while later, Xiao Xue and the other military super warriors entered the conference room.

Wen Yu received the 30 darkness attribute magic crystals from Xiao Xue and directly fed them to the little Soul Beast.

This scene made Star and Cyclops practically drool, their spiritual fluctuations constantly broadcasting complaints like, ”The boss is playing favorites!” ”The boss isn’t treating us well anymore!” and ”We should just form our own union!”

Once the little Soul Beast finished digesting the magic crystals, its physical attributes rising to 248 points, Kuangliu spread out a map and spoke quickly, ”This is a map of the entire treasure land. I’ve divided the central part in two, creating two hunting zones.”

After speaking, Kuangliu drew a straight line with Demon City and the outpost as its two endpoints.

”Wen Yu, you’re responsible for the right half; I’ll take the left. Then, the super warriors will lead the teams. Each of you will lead 30 elites, forming a small squad. There will be five squads on each side.”

”Numbers 1, 2, 5, 8, and 9, you are on the right side. Wen Yu is responsible for your safety and will command you when necessary. The rest are on my side. Any questions?”

”No, sir!” the ten military super-experts immediately saluted and replied loudly.

”Alright, depart immediately.”

Having settled the matter decisively and efficiently, Wen Yu and Kuangliu walked out of the conference room shoulder to shoulder.

”Oh, right. This is for you.” Kuangliu took out a silver-white communicator and handed it to Wen Yu.

”The channel is already tuned. Someone will notify you if high-level Demon Fiends appear or if any squad is in danger. But I estimate they won’t be that foolish; after all, our informants and scouts are spread throughout the entire treasure land.”

Wen Yu nodded, accepted the communicator, exchanged a few words with Kuangliu, and then headed directly outside.

He first returned to his temporary lodging for a short rest.

A few hours later, Wen Yu set out directly, riding Star toward Demon City.

Along the way, Wen Yu constantly fiddled with the communicator, gathering a good deal of information. The military’s super warriors had already departed in squads as per Kuangliu’s arrangements and were currently awaiting further orders in the central area of the treasure land.

According to reports from the frontline scouts, there was still no major activity in Demon City. The only change was the increasing number of Demon Fiends; not only were the city streets packed, but even the rooftops were crawling with Bipedal Lizards. However, these creatures didn’t venture out of the city. Perhaps they feared the power of the humans’ hot weapons, or perhaps there were other reasons.

In a video sent back by frontline intelligence personnel, Wen Yu saw the familiar Soot Skin Demon Fiend. It was currently sitting atop the head of a giant Bipedal Lizard, chatting with an oddly shaped demon spawn. And the black vortex in the center of Demon City continued to disgorge vast numbers of Bipedal Lizards.

”So, basically, nothing’s happening right now, is that it?”

”You could put it that way...” Kuangliu’s voice came through the communicator.

Wen Yu took a deep breath and directed Star to increase speed.

Inside Demon City, watching the drones constantly flitting about outside, a ferocious glint flashed in the demon spawn’s eyes.

”These creatures...” Its words were filled with killing intent, causing the Soot Skin Demon Fiend beside it to shiver.

”Have you figured out a way to deal with those exploding things?”

Hearing the demon spawn’s question, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend shook its head slightly.

After a long pause, the demon spawn slowly said, ”This is why your race is so inferior—weak bodies and no brains!”

Anger flashed in the Soot Skin Demon Fiend’s eyes, but it quickly lowered its head and said humbly, ”You are correct, Master...”

The demon spawn glanced impassively at the Soot Skin Demon Fiend, then spoke. ”You, go and deactivate the Devil Qi Matrix.”

Hearing this, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend was greatly alarmed! ”But, Master...”

Before it could finish, the demon spawn cut it off. ”As long as it’s not attacked, no one outside can tell if the Devil Qi Matrix is active or not. Do as I say!”

Having said this, the demon spawn immediately emitted a spiritual fluctuation.

The vast numbers of Bipedal Lizards throughout Demon City instantly stirred. Those below Level 4 rapidly scrambled out of Demon City, while the Level 4 and Level 5 Bipedal Lizards remained motionless within the city!

Seeing this, a ruthless glint flashed in the demon spawn’s eyes. ”You just want points, don’t you? There are plenty to be had! But don’t you choke on them!”

Then, the demon spawn activated a skill.

Fog of War (C-Class, Active Ability): Create a large area shrouded in Fog of War. The area cannot be moved, and it is immune to most visual detection methods!

As the fog gradually enveloped most of Demon City, the distant drones instantly became ineffective.
