Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 261: Chapter 54: This Isn’t a Personal Grudge_1

”Grandfather.”

Fang Yuan squeezed through the crowded room with Wen Yu in tow. Of course, the crowd parted mostly due to their recognition of Fang Yuan.

Old Master Fang glanced at Fang Yuan, then at Wen Yu standing behind him, accompanied by two soul pets, and nodded slightly. He then spoke in a slightly aged voice, ”This one behind you must be Brother Wen Yu. Come, sit here.”

Hearing Old Master Fang’s words, Wen Yu nodded and walked straight to the front, sitting next to Old Master Fang.

Old Master Fang examined Wen Yu closely, then turned to Fang Yuan and said, ”Go, call Wenwen over.”

Fang Yuan nodded in response.

After a short while, Fang Yuan returned with his reluctant sister following.

Old Master Fang appraised Wenwen for a moment, then addressed Wen Yu. ”This is my granddaughter. She’s been somewhat stubborn since childhood, but you’re both young. With regular interactions, I think you will gradually get to know each other.”

It was clear that Old Master Fang was keen on setting Wen Yu up with his granddaughter.

Wen Yu also acknowledged that assimilating someone you want to win over into your own circle was the best way to do so. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the purpose of Wen Yu’s visit today.

Wen Yu nodded, acknowledging Old Master Fang’s question. However, his aloof demeanor caused Old Master Fang to frown, giving rise to some ominous thoughts. Having been in politics for so many years, Old Master Fang was one of the best at reading people on Earth.

”What’s wrong? Are you not quite satisfied with my granddaughter?” Old Master Fang chuckled as he said to Wen Yu, observing him even more closely.

Wen Yu looked around and then at Old Master Fang’s impassive face before slowly shaking his head. ”Everyone is here, right? Then I shall begin.”

After saying this, Wen Yu gradually stood up and took a gift box from his space ring.

Wen Yu’s voice was very soft, so soft that those around him could not hear.

Seeing the gift box, Fang Yuan’s expression changed slightly as he looked at Wen Yu, then he slowly gave him a thumbs-up. It was obvious that Fang Yuan was somewhat surprised by Wen Yu’s thoughtful gesture.

Wen Yu gently brought the gift box before him, faced Old Master Fang, and said with great respect, ”Best wishes to Old Master Fang for happiness as boundless as the East Sea, longevity as enduring as Nanshan.”

After he finished speaking, he directly took out the Space Blocker from the box and twisted it open!

A deep blue light immediately enveloped the entire banquet hall, even shrouding the courtyard outside!

Seeing the abruptly appearing blue light screen, the hall fell silent for a moment before erupting into chaos! The banquet attendees, all ”elite figures,” naturally understood that this blue light curtain was definitely not a congratulatory gift.

”What are you doing?” Fang Yuan stepped forward quickly and shouted at Wen Yu.

Wen Yu looked at the guests behind him in chaos, the security personnel rushing into the banquet hall, Fang Yuan’s grim expression, and Old Master Fang’s calm demeanor before finally speaking. ”This is a congratulatory gift from Commander Lin for Old Master Fang. Of course, I am also part of the gift. And I must say, this is not personal.”

As Cyclops and Star rapidly enlarged, the banquet hall immediately plunged into even greater chaos. As soon as the light curtain formed, Wen Yu had given orders to Star and Cyclops: Kill everyone within the light curtain!

With the full manifestation of the two Level 4 mutant beasts, the hall was instantly painted in blood and flesh! For Cyclops and Star, eliminating these ordinary people, low-level professionists, and some low-ranking security personnel was a piece of cake.

Wen Yu slowly walked past a dumbfounded Fang Yuan and sat right next to Old Master Fang, whose face remained calm. He then took a pack of expensive cigarettes from the side, lit one, and took a deep puff.

Possibly due to the scent of the tobacco, Old Master Fang showed some discomfort, coughing heavily. After glancing at the bloody Shura Field before him, then back at Wen Yu smoking beside him, he gently nodded. ”I knew a day like this would come... I knew it all along...”

Wen Yu leisurely exhaled a cloud of smoke, smoothly taking over the conversation. ”So, aren’t you going to bring out your life-saving measures?”

Wen Yu knew that these aristocratic families were bound to have some trump cards. Fang Wenhai had just warned him to be cautious of the hidden measures of these families.

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s words, Old Master Fang nodded, pointing directly at two pieces of decorative armor standing in the banquet hall. ”They’re over there. Two Steel Puppets from a treasure land, possessing Peak Level 3 strength. But they’re not much use, are they?”

Wen Yu nodded in response.

”So, there’s no real need for them to be activated. Better to leave them for Haifeng and let him bring out their combat strength!” Old Master Fang shook his head, speaking with a sigh. ”Nothing else needs to be said. I’ve known a day like this would come, sooner or later...

”I’ve watched Little Lin climb his way up, step by step, to where he is now. I understand his thoughts, and I agree with them.

”Unfortunately... I failed to resist the corrosion of power, and I couldn’t withstand the pleas of my family...

”This is my home; these are my children...”

The matters of country and family were far too complex, particularly for Old Master Fang; they demanded careful consideration. Old Master Fang’s choice was family. Of course, Wen Yu neither knew nor needed to know the innermost thoughts of Old Master Fang’s heart!

In less than two minutes, Wen Yu finished his cigarette and slowly stood up. He addressed Old Master Fang, ”Let’s get this over with. I’ll try to let you die with some dignity.”

Old Master Fang didn’t say anything, simply giving a nod.

”Wait... wait, don’t kill my grandfather! Wen Yu, our family has given you so much. Isn’t that enough for you?” Fang Yuan trembled as he walked forward, positioning his body between Wen Yu and Old Master Fang.

The power of Palpitation began to manifest in Wen Yu’s right hand, and he shook his head. ”I’ve told you, this is not a personal vendetta!”

BANG!!!

Palpitation’s physical damage capability wasn’t strong, but given Wen Yu’s physical constitution, even Palpitation possessed enough Lethality to inflict critical injuries on both Fang Yuan and Old Master Fang!

Just like that, two lives with one shot.

Seeing the bodies of Fang Yuan and Old Master Fang lying on the ground, Wen Yu showed no reaction. He simply walked over to Old Master Fang’s corpse and took the space ring off his right hand.

There were definitely many life-saving items in there, but unfortunately, with the Space Blocker active, he couldn’t open it. Wen Yu didn’t intend to open it now either—it was his war loot, and he certainly wasn’t going to leave it for Lin Haifeng.

Standing up, Wen Yu surveyed his surroundings. All the guests and armed personnel in the vicinity had been utterly eliminated by Cyclops and Star.

Thanks to the Space Blocker, the life-saving trump cards these people possessed were completely locked within their space rings. This undoubtedly saved Wen Yu a lot of trouble.

SOB...

The sound of sobbing reached him. Wen Yu slowly walked towards the large chair where Old Master Fang had been sitting earlier.

TAP, TAP...

The footsteps echoed. With the Hearing of a Level 4 professionist, Wen Yu could feel the heartbeat of the person hiding behind the chair quickening bit by bit.

Eventually, Wen Yu came face to face with the banquet hall’s last survivor. ”Hello, Wenwen...”

Hearing Wen Yu’s greeting, Wenwen clapped her hands tightly over her mouth, tears streaming down her face. Underneath her, a puddle of pale yellow liquid was rapidly growing larger!

”Don’t... kill me...”

Wen Yu slowly shook his head. ”I’m just a mere Martial Artist. If I don’t kill, I lose my reason for being...”

”So, goodbye!”
