When he saw that silhouette, Wen Yu thought of many things. It was hard to explain what kind of feeling it was. Perhaps there was some guilt, perhaps a bit of embarrassment, but more than anything, it was the awkwardness of not knowing how to face Sun Ruixing’s daughter.

Sun Xuewei turned around and looked at Wen Yu.

”Who are you?”

Her clear voice reached him, but he didn’t know how to respond.

Wen Yu remained silent for a long moment before the woman who had led him in spoke.

”He says your father entrusted him to find you. This is what he gave me outside the door just now.”

After speaking, she produced the pendant Sun Ruixing had given Wen Yu.

The moment she saw the pendant, Sun Xuewei was overcome with emotion.

”This... This is...”

Seeing Sun Xuewei take the pendant with trembling hands, tears streaming down her face, struggling to speak, Wen Yu was silent for a moment before he finally said, ”This was given to me by your father, Sun Ruixing.”

Sun Xuewei sobbed for a long time, her hands covering her mouth and nose. She eventually calmed her surging emotions and managed to ask, ”Then... he...”

Wen Yu simply stood there, silent.

That expression, that response! It explained so much!

...

Wen Yu sighed softly. He looked at Sun Xuewei, who was on the verge of collapse, then at the women comforting her, and said gently, ”Could I trouble you all to step out for a moment? I have some things I’d like to discuss with her alone.”

Hearing Wen Yu, the surrounding women shot him a cold look but didn’t move.

In their eyes, Wen Yu was no Sequence Number 2; at best, he was just a Death Harbinger Raven, a bearer of bad news.

Only when Sun Xuewei managed to speak did the women turn and leave the room.

When only the two of them remained in the room, Sun Xuewei wiped her tears and asked again, ”What about my mother?”

”Old Sun told me your mother didn’t survive the first wave of zombification.”

Hearing this, Sun Xuewei showed no particular reaction; she just stared blankly at Wen Yu.

Wen Yu sighed, found a chair, and sat down. Looking earnestly into Sun Xuewei’s eyes, he said, ”Before your father passed away, he asked me to ensure your safety. I previously had the military try to find you, but I heard you declined to join them. I’d like to understand your current thoughts.”

Sun Xuewei nodded, sniffling heavily.

”I... I...”

After uttering ”I” twice, Sun Xuewei found she still couldn’t control her emotions and just shook her head.

Wen Yu nodded and continued, ”So, you want to stay here?”

Sun Xuewei nodded.

”But this place isn’t safe, and their abilities are quite limited.”

Sun Xuewei nodded again, finally speaking. ”But they’re the only people I know left.”

”Mm, I understand.”

Wen Yu immediately stood up and began to pace around the room.

After a while, Wen Yu walked over to Sun Xuewei and took two items from his space ring: a damaged shield and a scroll.

Then, Wen Yu said, ”This is the weapon your father left behind, and a skill he entrusted to me to give to you. These two items are his relics. I’m giving them to you now.”

Sun Xuewei looked at Wen Yu. She first took the shield from his hand, gently caressing a damaged area on it, before asking, ”How did my father... die?”

”He was a hero. He died... in a war!”

Wen Yu didn’t tell the truth. These details might be important to him, but they weren’t for Sun Xuewei. If Old Sun’s spirit was watching, he probably wouldn’t want Wen Yu to tell Sun Xuewei the truth.

Sun Xuewei nodded. She was silent for a moment, then carefully placed the shield by the bed and pushed the scroll Wen Yu offered back towards him.

”Please take this as your service fee. I’m truly grateful that you traveled all the way to Yanjing to find me.”

Hearing Sun Xuewei’s words, Wen Yu actually laughed.

”Honestly, you and your father sound exactly alike. Tsk, tsk.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Sun Xuewei’s sorrow eased somewhat.

”You can look at it first before deciding whether you want it or not.”

Wen Yu offered the scroll again.

This time, Sun Xuewei hesitated for a couple of moments before accepting it.

Then, Sun Xuewei’s eyes suddenly widened.

Indestructible Flashing Bluestar (SSS-Class, Active Skill): Upon activation, summons the dead heroes’ spirits of Flashing Bluestar to fight for you. The number and quality of summoned spirits depend on the host’s level and remaining stamina! This is a skill created by Flashing Bluestar Sequence Number 1 with his unparalleled power, incorporating the heroic souls of Flashing Bluestar warriors who died in battle. When the host reaches Level 10, the Flashing Bluestar Sequence Number 1 dwelling within this ability will awaken.

Wen Yu, of course, already knew the skill’s attributes, but Sun Xuewei did not. To be precise, she had never encountered a skill of such high quality.

”This is...” Sun Xuewei looked at Wen Yu’s face in surprise, asking hesitantly.

”I told you, it’s what your father left for you before he died.”

Seeing Wen Yu’s resolute gaze and hearing his confident tone, Sun Xuewei was silent for a moment before offering the scroll back to Wen Yu.

”Thank you. But this skill, I...”

Wen Yu shook his head and stepped back a couple of paces, not taking the scroll.

”It’s a gift from your father to you, a father’s love for his daughter. I hope you can use it well. Let’s put this aside and discuss another matter from Old Sun’s last wishes.”

Sun Xuewei looked at Wen Yu, then at the scroll in her hand. After hesitating for a moment, she placed it by the head of her bed.

Then, Wen Yu slowly began to speak. ”Old Sun asked me to take care of you. My original plan was to arrange a clerical job for you in the military, where you’d at least be safe. However, since you’re not planning to leave, let me ask you again: will you come with me?”

Hearing Wen Yu’s question, Sun Xuewei immediately shook her head.

”Alright then, how about I resolve this matter as follows? I can promise you two things. Whatever they are, I’ll do my utmost to accomplish them for you!”

These two promises were to settle his debts—one incurred during the treasure land trial, and the other on the Two-Realm Battlefield.

Sun Xuewei looked at Wen Yu’s earnest expression. Perhaps recognizing his insistence, she nodded.

Seeing Sun Xuewei’s acquiescence, Wen Yu smiled and said, ”If you have any problems or difficulties, or if you change your mind, you can go directly to the military district and find Lin Kuangliu. He’s currently the military’s Lord God of War. He’ll help you with some things, and he can also contact me.”

Upon hearing the title ’War God,’ Sun Xuewei immediately looked up in surprise. Obviously, anyone from the Yanjing Assembly Site would recognize this renowned title.

”I’ll give you his contact information later. From this, you should be able to see I have some influence. So, are you sure you don’t want to consider a comfortable position in the military?”

Wen Yu shamelessly used Lin Kuangliu’s name for leverage, showing no embarrassment whatsoever.

Unfortunately, Sun Xuewei’s reply was firm.

”I’m doing fine here. It’s safe, and more importantly, I have many companions here. I can’t leave them, and they can’t leave me.”

Hearing Sun Xuewei’s reply, Wen Yu nodded.

”Remember, I owe you two favors! Their value will be immense!”

”Well then, good luck!”

With that, Wen Yu turned, left the room, and headed downstairs.
