Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 264: Chapter 57 Lin Haifeng’s Suggestion_1

”These are the Danger Level mutant creatures detected by the military command, including both individuals and groups.”

”When I say ’Danger Level,’ I mean creatures that even the military command considers dangerous. Kuangliu, with his current strength, definitely couldn’t handle clearing them out.”

Upon hearing Lin Haifeng’s words, Wen Yu immediately nodded and said, ”This is exactly the kind of information I need.”

Seeing Wen Yu’s somewhat fanatical eyes, Lin Haifeng chuckled.

”Then let me walk you through the situation in these areas.”

Finishing his sentence, Lin Haifeng pointed directly to a location in the Tibet Autonomous Region—a huge, shiny black dot was marked there.

”Here, a divine beast species dwells. It has Level 4 strength. Satellite images showed that entire Lhasa had been utterly destroyed by this creature and the mutant beasts under its command.”

”This divine beast species’ original form was likely a canine creature. However, after becoming a divine beast species, it transformed into a peculiar creature resembling a black Qilin.”

”The last time I sent Kuangliu and Vermilion Bird to negotiate with it, they were driven back! It has a terrible temper!”

”Moreover, it’s truly hideous, so we named it the Ghost-faced Qilin.”

After hearing Lin Haifeng’s words, Wen Yu nodded.

After pondering for a moment, Wen Yu replied, ”Continue.”

Wen Yu couldn’t take down this divine beast species. Its strength was formidable, and it had too many subordinates. Those were among the reasons. More importantly, a divine beast species would be invaluable in resisting the Demon Tribe’s invasion.

”Here.”

Lin Haifeng pointed to a place near Guangxi.

”This is also a divine beast species, known as White Tiger! And yes, this one is a genuine White Tiger!”

”This White Tiger is extremely aggressive! It’s a loner with no subordinates, but its combat power is terrifying!”

”And over here, there is another divine beast species—a Nine-tailed Fox...”

”...And over here...”

”Wait a minute.”

Wen Yu immediately cut off Lin Haifeng.

”Are all these black dots divine beast species...?”

Seeing Lin Haifeng nod in affirmation, Wen Yu was left speechless.

”There are seven in total. These are all the divine beast species currently known within Cathay’s borders. However, I can’t be sure if there are more.”

Wen Yu examined the map in detail. Seven divine beast species, each living in different locations. Although their territories bordered each other in places, their domains were sharply distinct.

”Phew...”

Wen Yu took a deep breath.

”Let’s not talk about divine beast species. The price to hunt them is simply too high.”

Based on Wen Yu’s estimation of his own combat strength, he, along with Cyclops and a Cyclops-ized Faceless, might barely be able to kill one divine beast species. Adding Star to the mix, at best, their combined strength could contend with two divine beast species! However, such combat strength was far from enough to guarantee a complete victory against divine beast species! Therefore, hunting divine beast species was, from any angle, illogical!

...

Seeing Wen Yu’s helpless expression, Lin Haifeng nodded, placing his finger on the red dots.

There was a substantial number of red dots, all located near mountains and rivers.

Lin Haifeng explained, ”These red dots mark large mutant beast gathering sites. They’ve formed complete food chains within them. For ordinary professionists, these are forbidden zones. But for you, I don’t think there’s anything to fear, unless there’s a divine beast species I’m unaware of lurking inside.”

”Divine beast species aren’t that common!” Wen Yu asserted.

Indeed, in a land as vast as Cathay, only seven divine beast species had been observed so far. Including Star and Vermilion Bird, that made a total of nine. That number was already quite small!

Lin Haifeng shrugged. Seeing Wen Yu intently studying the map, Lin Haifeng took a sip of tea and continued, ”Actually, I’m not showing you this map for you to go kill them.”

Upon hearing this from Lin Haifeng, Wen Yu instantly looked up in confusion.

”You might have forgotten; I mentioned earlier that we’re cooperating. But if you go around killing these mutant creatures, what’s in it for us?”

Lin Haifeng’s words were blunt and realistic, and Wen Yu preferred dealing with pragmatic people.

”Besides, at this point, I’d rather you didn’t hunt large numbers of mutant creatures. Because, as you should know, these creatures will be fighting alongside us in the future.”

Upon hearing Lin Haifeng’s words, Wen Yu nodded.

That was true, but Wen Yu wouldn’t abandon his advancement for that reason! Improving his own strength was paramount!

After Lin Haifeng finished speaking, he began to roll up the map and said slowly, ”You’ve likely memorized this map by now. Consider it an extra reward for your efforts this time. After all, just finding a woman for me didn’t require that much effort from you. This deal itself is rather unfair.”

”I have a suggestion you might want to hear. If you don’t agree, you can still go after those mutant beasts later; it won’t be too late.”

Upon hearing Lin Haifeng’s words, Wen Yu gave a nod.

Seeing Wen Yu’s attitude, Lin Haifeng chuckled lightly and slowly said, ”I believe leveling up by killing members of the Demon Tribe would be much better than killing mutant beasts. What do you think?”

...

”I think so too, but the Demon Tribe hasn’t appeared yet!” Wen Yu rubbed his temple and said gently.

Strictly speaking, Wen Yu had only encountered the Demon Tribe on Earth once, during the War of Two Worlds. He had encountered them a few more times in treasure lands, though...

Hold on a moment!

At this thought, Wen Yu suddenly looked up at Lin Haifeng.

Lin Haifeng just sat there, sipping his tea and smiling.

”You have treasure lands with large numbers of the Demon Tribe in them?”

Even Li Quan’an managed to hide one back then. Wen Yu found it impossible to believe the military command wouldn’t have some for its own use.

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s words, Lin Haifeng nodded and started to elaborate, ”We have many treasure lands. These things get closed and reopened constantly. The military command maintains control over about 100 of them at any given time.”

”However, most are single-use; once the treasures are taken, they’re gone. A few are challenge-type treasure lands, accessible to most professionists.”

”But not long ago, the military discovered a Super Treasure Land! This one is rather special. Interested in taking a look?”

Upon hearing Lin Haifeng’s words, Wen Yu nodded immediately.

This was something he absolutely couldn’t miss.

Seeing Wen Yu’s reaction, Lin Haifeng smiled and nodded.

”In that case, I think our deal is as good as made.”
