Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 292: Chapter 82: Artillery Strike (Extra Chapter as a reward for Alliance Hierarch Bai’s contribution!)_1

It didn’t take long for Wen Yu to catch up with the Demon Fiends that had departed earlier.

First, he summoned Cyclops, then drew blood, and finally, summoned Faceless, copying Cyclops’s power.

Wen Yu directly threw the two large dog-like soul pets down from Star’s back.

Then, Wen Yu entered battle mode, his physical fitness boosted to just over 400 points. Standing on Star’s back, he summoned Mad Medley and Palpitation, launching continuous attacks on the Demon Group below.

Kuangliu, naturally, wasted no words on these Demon Fiends; he certainly had no intention of leaving them for the military’s soldiers to practice on. He quickly activated his skills and leaped directly off Star’s back.

A huge, spectral White Tiger flickered incessantly around Kuangliu, its fierce power sweeping down a large number of Demon Fiends.

Star also swooped down, tearing apart the leading Ancient Demon and several surrounding Level 4 Demon Fiends. It didn’t even leave the magic crystals for Wen Yu, directly devouring them.

Without suppression from top-tier combat power, these low-level Demon Fiends couldn’t withstand the assault of two humans and three soul pets for even a moment; they were completely wiped out.

They cleaned up the battlefield, disposing of the Demon Beast Corpses.

After witnessing how the Blood Beast was summoned, Wen Yu resolved not to leave even a trace of these Demon Fiends’ blood or corpses for the pursuing Soot Skin Demon Fiends.

The method of disposing of the corpses was simple: Cyclops, Star, and Faceless spat out huge pillars of fire from their mouths. These flames instantly incinerated the consumed Demon Beast Corpses on the ground, conveniently evaporating all the Demon Blood as well.

Of course, since Wen Yu hadn’t seen the Balu Monster legion’s reproduction method from further back, this tactic of burning the corpses to ash was an unintentionally effective move on his part.

However, Wen Yu’s ignorance did not mean the military’s surveillance capabilities had also missed it.

As early as when the Balu Monster army was devouring the Demon Fiend corpses outside the Demon City, the military had already gained a general understanding of these monsters’ reproduction methods.

This method of Fission Reproduction, akin to that of single-celled organisms, struck great fear into the military personnel who witnessed it.

It was predictable that if close combat ensued with these Balu Monsters, their numbers would only multiply as they relentlessly killed and devoured. This would continue until the military’s professionists were completely annihilated by the sheer mass of Balu Monsters.

In the outpost, a discussion focusing on the Balu Monster army was nearing its end.

Fang Wenhai, presiding over the meeting, tapped the table twice and stated directly, ”Then, let’s proceed with the plan we just discussed.”

The plan they had just discussed undoubtedly concerned the Balu Monsters currently rushing towards the outpost.

With Fang Wenhai’s order, the massive military machine sprang into action.

In the streets of the outpost, countless missile trucks, acting on intelligence from the front lines, quickly calibrated their targets.

Within minutes, upon the commander’s order relayed via communications, the short-range missiles mounted on the vehicles launched into the sky. They sped quickly towards their designated target location.

Wen Yu and Kuangliu, positioned between the outpost and the Balu Monsters, naturally witnessed the countless short-range missiles streaking across the sky, trailing flames.

”What’s going on?” Wen Yu asked Kuangliu, his brow furrowed.

Wen Yu and Kuangliu had briefly discussed this. According to Kuangliu, the best approach to dealing with these newly emerged Demon Fiends was to establish the battlefield in front of the outpost. Leveraging the advantage of their Hot Weapons, they could confront these bizarre Demon Fiends head-on. Firstly, they had the fortifications and heavy firepower for support; secondly, it would serve as an excellent training exercise for the troops.

In the eyes of the high command, the second point was paramount.

Kuangliu also frowned, took out his communicator, and contacted the Outpost Command Center.

Before long, Kuangliu returned, his expression grim. He handed his tablet to Wen Yu and said, ”See for yourself. This is how the monsters further back are dealing with this wave of missile strikes!”

The military’s short-range missiles accurately hit their targets.

From Kuangliu’s explanation, Wen Yu understood one crucial point: most missiles could essentially be considered large bundles of explosives. The difference lay in the yield of the warhead’s explosive charge. The warheads currently launched by the military were not high-yield nuclear weapons, but their explosive payload was still considerable and not to be underestimated.

The screen clearly showed that just as the missiles were about to land, a demon spawn leading the charge, mounted on a colossal lizard-like Demon Fiend, issued an order. At its command, the Bipedal Lizards rapidly scrabbled with their feet, digging large pits in the ground and diving into them. Their speed was astonishing.

Then, a barrage of missiles rained down, precisely striking the area.

Instantly, smoke billowed everywhere, and even the drone signals experienced a brief interruption. The initially blank screen flickered, and the signal was restored shortly after.

The ground was pockmarked with craters and littered with corpses, some still bearing the marks of scorching flames.

However, soon after, the entire impact zone seemed to spring to life as countless Bipedal Lizards crawled out from underground.

This missile barrage, for all its intensity, had managed to eliminate at most one-fifth of the Bipedal Lizards. Moreover, most of the casualties were smaller-sized monsters.

But it didn’t end there.

Without any command from the leading demon spawn, countless Bipedal Lizards quickly pounced on the corpses of their kin. Their mouths wide open, they ceaselessly gnawed at the flesh and blood of their fallen comrades.

Then came Fission Reproduction...

To Wen Yu’s astonishment, it didn’t take long for the number of Bipedal Lizards to return almost to its original level. Perhaps they had only lost about a thousand monsters in total.

Wen Yu looked at Kuangliu, then back at the Balu Monsters on the screen, and swallowed hard.

”These creatures...”

Kuangliu, his face grim, interrupted before Wen Yu could finish, ”You’ve seen their reproduction method. What’s even more terrifying is their efficiency in utilizing energy from flesh and blood.”

”According to military estimates, these creatures utilize the energy from flesh and blood with nearly one hundred percent efficiency!”

”This means that for every corpse of a Level 1 creature they consume, they can generate one Level 1 monster!”

”Once they reach the outpost and engage in close-quarters combat, you can imagine the kind of situation that will unfold, can’t you?”

Hearing Kuangliu’s words, Wen Yu nodded.

From a certain perspective, this ability was equivalent to an undying body!

They devour the corpses of their kin and generate new ones!

They devour the corpses of their enemies and can also regenerate their own kind!

Perfect assimilation!

Coupled with their considerable individual combat abilities, these Bipedal Lizards could convert every living being on the battlefield into more of themselves!

It was like a plague...
