Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 297: Chapter 87 Three-Step Strategy (Part 1)_1

Hearing the dissent from below, Lin Haifeng carefully observed the officers who wished to withdraw from the treasure land, then slowly nodded.

It seemed as if he was carefully considering their words, but in reality...

”That old man is ruthlessly cunning,” Kuangliu’s voice, tinged with schadenfreude, reached Wen Yu’s ears. ”I estimate a large batch of people will be removed from their posts after this meeting ends...”

A slight twitch touched the corner of Wen Yu’s mouth.

As the saying goes, no one knows a father better than his son; Kuangliu was perfectly clear about his old man’s methods and intentions!

Lin Haifeng’s strategic philosophy was simple: fight!

This was merely a preliminary skirmish, yet it had resulted in the entire Cathay military shamefully retreating. If that was the case, when the Demon Realm’s Gate officially opened, how would they fight? How would they maintain the will to resist?

In Lin Haifeng’s view, therefore, these conservatives who lacked the will to fight were probably no longer fit for the front lines.

The way Lin Haifeng and Kuangliu were positioned, one above and one below, observing the meeting as if it were a live broadcast with commentary, struck Wen Yu as somewhat amusing.

At this moment, Kuangliu hadn’t finished speaking.

”Look at those officers opposing continued warfare. You should be able to hear their heartbeats... each one is pounding like a drum. I think these fellows are best suited for logistical work in the rear.”

Wen Yu nodded noncommittally.

At this time, Lin Haifeng, seated in the main chair, seemed to have reached a decision and tapped his fingers on the tabletop.

A Third-level professionist possessed considerable power, but Lin Haifeng controlled it perfectly, causing no damage to the table; the sound merely interrupted the discussions below.

”I generally understand your thoughts. Overall, most of you believe it’s better to stay here and engage the Demon Fiends, correct?”

The crowd below nodded in unison. This time, even the conservatives dared not voice any objections.

”In that case, today’s meeting will primarily focus on how we fight.”

After speaking, Lin Haifeng signaled a nearby secretary to distribute some documents. ”First,” he began, ”yesterday, I outlined a few simple strategic objectives for this war. Please pass them around and take a look.”

「 」

Lin Haifeng’s strategic planning was very simple.

”It’s primarily divided into three strategic objectives!”

”The first and most important point is troop training. None of you should have any objection to this, right?”

Everyone present nodded in agreement; even Wen Yu strongly approved of this point.

What was the greatest use of this treasure land?

Undeniably, it could provide a stable source of points, though, of course, not without significant danger!

But it was far better than scouring for mutant creatures!

Setting aside the fact that mutant creatures would be considered allies once the Demon Realm’s Gate opened, their current numbers already posed a significant problem.

Although Earth teemed with a rich diversity of species, the current concentration of Demonic Qi on the planet was insufficient to trigger mutations in all creatures!

At the very least, the vast majority of plants and nearly all insects and microorganisms had not mutated.

Even among animals like rats, cats, and dogs, only a small fraction had undergone mutation.

Furthermore, killing ordinary animals and plants garnered no points.

Lin Haifeng viewed acquiring points by killing mutant creatures as a form of internal attrition.

This also revealed Lin Haifeng’s methods and his attitude towards mutant creatures.

「 」

”However, how to train the troops is a critical point.”

Lin Haifeng continued without waiting for the officers below to offer their opinions.

”Fang Wenhai, you first report on the movements of those Bipedal Lizards.”

Hearing Lin Haifeng’s directive, Fang Wenhai nodded and began to speak.

”Currently, the Bipedal Lizards are holed up in the Demon City. Three consecutive waves of missile strikes have likely intimidated them, as they show no signs of launching an attack. However, our observations indicate that the black vortex within the Demon City is continuously teleporting more Bipedal Lizards. Based on their numbers, the entire Demon City is nearly full!”

”According to estimates from the Outpost Command Center, these Bipedal Lizards might break into smaller units. This would address the Demon City’s limited capacity and help them evade Hot Weapon bombardments.”

After listening to Fang Wenhai, Wen Yu silently considered the information and nodded.

Fang Wenhai’s assessment seemed correct to Wen Yu; breaking down into smaller units was indeed an excellent way to counter missile barrages!

Moreover, these Bipedal Lizards did not fear wars of attrition, thanks to their terrifying reproductive rate, which made the concept of population numbers somewhat abstract for their species.

About ten seconds after Fang Wenhai finished speaking, Lin Haifeng spoke again.

”I believe our response to the Bipedal Lizards’ tactic of dispersing their forces is straightforward. Powerful experts will lead small elite teams to hunt these Demon Fiend squads. Once team members advance to Level 4, they will, in turn, lead other squads. This process will repeat. Should any large concentrations of Demon Fiends appear, we will immediately obliterate them with missiles! While the Bipedal Lizards have superior numbers, we possess heavy weaponry, air superiority, and an intelligence advantage. The risk should not be too great!”

This was Lin Haifeng’s counter-plan.

With Wen Yu and Kuangliu, two Sequence-class combatants, present, even Level 5 Bipedal Lizards would not be too difficult for them to handle.

”What do you think?”

Lin Haifeng ignored the others’ reactions and looked directly at Kuangliu and Wen Yu.

Kuangliu simply nodded, offering no opinion.

Wen Yu, however, frowned in thought for a moment before also nodding.

This, after all, was a trade-off. The price for exchanging darkness attribute magic crystals from the military was to serve as... a babysitter...

”Then it’s decided.”

Seeing Wen Yu’s agreement, Lin Haifeng immediately finalized this strategy.

”Next, let’s discuss the possibility of a full-scale Demon Fiend offensive and our Hot Weapons failing to hold them back!”

This was the so-called ’considering defeat before victory.’

「 」

”If missiles, or even nuclear weapons, fail to effectively intercept the Demon Fiends, it means we will have to confront these Bipedal Lizards head-on!”

Lin Haifeng paused for a moment, then continued.

”You’ve all seen their terrifying reproductive capabilities in the video files. Under such circumstances, our options are limited...”

’Not many options,’ Wen Yu mused, likely meant abandoning the outpost treasure land.

But Lin Haifeng’s response made Wen Yu see him in a new, more appreciative light.
