Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 277: Chapter 70: Military Reinforcement_1

”Wen Yu, do you need my assistance?”

Wen Yu immediately recognized the speaker as Kuangliu.

After a brief pause, Wen Yu replied, ”This side isn’t under much pressure right now. If you’re free, you could come over and take a look.”

”Give me half a day!” Kuangliu responded, then promptly hung up the comm.

「Meanwhile, in the outpost.」

Countless military vehicles poured out from the entrance of the treasure land, loaded with either heavy weapons or soldiers in uniform! The Aristocratic Family incident at the Yanjing Assembly Site had been largely resolved by Lin Haifeng yesterday, so the remaining elements were no longer a cause for concern. Besides, most of the defense lines outside the Yanjing Assembly Site had also been significantly drawn back.

Although they were called defense lines, their primary purpose was to defend against mutant creatures. However, at present, the territories of humans and mutant creatures were distinctly divided, with no significant conflicts between them.

Furthermore, the environment within the outpost treasure land was extremely suitable for training troops. Lin Haifeng had already decided to transfer the majority of the military’s forces into the treasure land, preparing for a frontal confrontation with the Demon Tribe!

With the influx of a vast number of troops, the relatively small outpost was soon filled to the brim with military personnel and all kinds of weapons.

Next to the entrance of the treasure land, Kuangliu had just hung up his communicator and said to Fang Wenhai with a smile, ”Old Fang, I heard Wen Yu really showed off his might here yesterday and gave you all quite a scare.”

Kuangliu’s words were clearly teasing.

Fang Wenhai didn’t show much reaction, merely nodding. ”Sequence Number 2’s strength is beyond my imagination—absurdly strong! I find it hard to believe a human can possess such power! Central Castle has drone footage of Sequence Number 2’s battles. Do you want to see it?”

Having witnessed Wen Yu’s power, Fang Wenhai had gained a new appreciation for the strength of Sequences. As a Sequence Number 3, even if Kuangliu was considered a weakling, he couldn’t be *that* much weaker than Wen Yu.

Before Kuangliu could reply to Fang Wenhai, a young man in civilian clothes, appearing no older than twenty, spoke up from behind Kuangliu. ”If you ask me, Brother Fang, it’s because you’ve been cooped up here for too long! You don’t understand Lord God of War’s true power, that’s why you hold a Sequence Number 2 who just popped out of nowhere in such high esteem. You need to understand, Lord Kuangliu’s power is Invincible!”

The young man’s voice was filled with confidence—not in himself, but in Kuangliu.

Kuangliu showed no reaction to this, merely waving his hand to signal Fang Wenhai to lead their group to Central Castle.

However, Xiao Xue, who was behind Kuangliu, calmly said, ”I’ve witnessed Sequence Number 2’s strength... I’m afraid Lord God of War might not be his match.”

Hearing Xiao Xue, the young man in civilian clothes gave a slight sneer but said nothing more.

Kuangliu nodded slightly at Xiao Xue’s words. ”Setting other things aside, just the divine beast seed Wen Yu has is something I can’t defeat. Anyway, let’s drop it. Wen Yu will be our comrade-in-arms for the foreseeable future. You’ll all see who’s stronger or weaker eventually; there’s no need to argue about such useless things here!”

”And especially you!” Kuangliu pointed at the young man in civilian clothes behind him. ”How does that saying go? ’One rabid fan is as bad as ten haters.’ With that mouth of yours, you’ll cause big trouble for me sooner or later!”

The young man’s mouth twitched, and he mumbled under his breath, ”But Boss *is* the strongest...”

He was clearly resentful of Kuangliu’s earlier admission of inferiority.

Kuangliu chuckled and shook his head, ignoring the young man’s grumbling, and followed Fang Wenhai directly towards Central Castle.

Ten individuals in varied attire followed closely behind Kuangliu.

These were the military’s main reinforcements this time: the War God and the military’s top ten powerful experts!

「Inside Central Castle.」

After Fang Wenhai gave Kuangliu and the others a detailed introduction to the current situation in the treasure land and showed them the recordings of Wen Yu’s battles from the previous day, everyone fell silent.

The military’s top ten powerful experts were silent because of Wen Yu’s overwhelming strength, while Kuangliu was silent because of the protective barrier around Demon City.

”This thing... have you sent anyone to investigate it on-site?” Kuangliu was the first to ask.

Fang Wenhai shook his head. ”The ones strong enough and daring enough to get close to Demon City’s edge are all soldiers; they lack the specialized knowledge.”

”The experts lack strength, so it’s too dangerous for them to go. Zhao Xiang won’t allow his scientific personnel to risk going to the front lines.”

He continued, ”The military has many scientific personnel, but a task like this must be assigned to top-tier researchers. Considering our current scientific resources and education system, talents of this level are precious; losing even one is a great blow.”

Kuangliu nodded slightly upon hearing this. ”Alright, how about this: I’ll take a team to the front to investigate. I’ll personally be responsible for protecting those ’precious assets’.”

Fang Wenhai nodded. ”That settles it then. I’m confident they’ll be safe with you there.”

Hearing Fang Wenhai’s response, Kuangliu turned and headed for the exit.

”Oh, by the way, Kuangliu,” Fang Wenhai called out, seeing him about to leave. ”How are the preparations for the nuclear weapons coming along?”

At this question, Kuangliu immediately pointed out the window. ”Ten have been brought in—various yields—along with their launch systems. But Commander Lin has given orders: they’re not to be used unless it’s a critical situation.”

”After all, using large-scale weapons of mass destruction like nuclear missiles to kill Demon Fiends won’t earn any points. Commander Lin wants you to remember: the purpose of this treasure land isn’t necessarily to fight the Demon Fiends to the death, but to cultivate a group of experts as quickly as possible. So, if you see that a situation is untenable, prioritize preserving more professionists.”

Kuangliu paused briefly before adding a final reminder, ”Also, don’t worry too much about casualties. The military needs Level 4 professionists, not Level 1 or Level 2 cannon fodder!”

Fang Wenhai nodded in understanding.

「By the time Kuangliu was ready.」

Five military vehicles carrying him, his group, and two researchers from the Academy of Science advanced towards Demon City.

Meanwhile, Wen Yu was standing before Demon City, observing Cyclops’s slaughter unfold below.

Just after Wen Yu finished his call with Kuangliu, a large horde of Demon Fiends suddenly surged out from Demon City.

At first, Wen Yu felt a pang of nervousness, thinking these Demon Fiends had gathered their strength and were preparing for a direct assault.

However, when Cyclops annihilated a tenth of them with a single blast of its Flames of Tyranny, Wen Yu quickly realized that wasn’t what was happening.

These were merely cannon fodder sent out by the Demon Tribe to die!
