Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 259: Chapter 52 Fang Wenhai (For Alliance Hierarch Bai, extra 5/10)_1

For the next two days, Wen Yu idled aimlessly in the inner city zone.

It wasn’t that Wen Yu wasn’t in a hurry to improve his strength, but the professionists were just too brutal! Anything that could earn points, they had killed. What remained that couldn’t be killed was either too powerful or too difficult to find. At least around the Yanjing Assembly Site, it was already hard to find creatures that could provide points.

Besides, considering Wen Yu’s current strength, unless he found a large-scale mutant beast tribe, the difficulty of Evolution was considerable. It would be better to wait until this mission was over, cooperate with Lin Haifeng, and obtain some information with ease.

It had been a full two months since the apocalypse started. Based on Wen Yu’s own calculations, even if he traversed mountains and rivers hunting mutant beasts in the remaining time, he should be able to elevate his strength to Level 5 or above, although it would be time-consuming and strenuous.

During those two days, Xiao Xue had come to see Wen Yu once, claiming she wanted to introduce some of her girlfriends to him. Unfortunately, Wen Yu wasn’t interested in such things.

At this moment, Wen Yu was in his room, studying a military map. The map was covered in red lines, all preparations for his upcoming advancement plan. If he couldn’t get the information he wanted from the military, this map would be his guarantee of advancement!

”Leaving Yanjing, we’ll head straight to the Taihang Mountains, then the Qinling Mountains, and the Kunlun Mountains. After that, we’ll fly out of the country and sweep along the coast. Time will be tight, but the estimated points and flesh we can get should be more than enough for our advancement.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Cyclops and Star stood silently to the side.

How would they travel? Of course, Cyclops would be the bus and Star the plane, taking turns.

Foreseeing their upcoming careers as transportation, Cyclops and Star just frowned, staring at the map without a word.

Noticing his two soul pets’ thoughts, Wen Yu patted their heads. ”Work hard and advance quickly. When I get to a higher level, I’ll find a soul pet specifically for transportation.”

Of course, these words were just to mollify the two soul pets. Wen Yu would never be so extravagant as to let a mutant beast, capable only of transportation, occupy his Soul Realm space. Wen Yu realized this, and the two mutant beasts naturally realized it too. Ignoring Wen Yu’s attempt at consolation, Star and Cyclops just squinted, their eyes tracing the route Wen Yu had planned.

It does seem a bit long...

HONK HONK HONK...

The sound of a horn interrupted Wen Yu’s route-planning. Tidying the military map, Wen Yu immediately stored it in his space ring, then picked up Cyclops and Star and headed straight outside.

Outside, Fang Yuan stood in a formal suit in front of a Rolls-Royce, greeting Wen Yu with a smile. ”The time has come. I wonder if Brother Wen Yu is ready?”

Wen Yu nodded. ”I’ve been ready for a long time.”

In the luxurious back seat of the vehicle, Wen Yu and Fang Yuan chatted leisurely. In less than an hour, they arrived at the Fang Family’s old residence.

Though called an old residence, the entire estate’s layout was opulent and magnificent. Even before entering, Wen Yu could hear faint sounds of conversation and laughter coming from within.

”Let’s go, Brother Wen Yu. I’ll take you to meet my grandfather,” Fang Yuan said.

Wen Yu nodded and immediately followed behind him.

Unfortunately, just as they reached the entrance of the residence, they were stopped by the Servants guarding the door.

”Excuse me, sir,” one of the Servants said politely to Wen Yu. ”Could you please hand over your space ring and your two pets to me?”

Wen Yu frowned and glanced at Fang Yuan.

Fang Yuan looked somewhat embarrassed. ”I’m sorry, Brother Wen Yu, this is the rule, you see...”

Wen Yu hesitated for a moment, then said to Fang Yuan, ”I definitely won’t hand over my space ring. I understand why you’re doing this; it’s undoubtedly for safety. How about this: you inspect the items in my space ring, and then I’ll be allowed to take it inside. What do you think?”

Wen Yu’s space ring didn’t contain many items, but unfortunately, there were a few valuable things he absolutely couldn’t let out of his sight, such as the Pitch-dark Divine Light skill scroll and the Book of Black remnant.

Fang Yuan hesitated, looking between the two Servants, who still had their hands outstretched, and Wen Yu, who appeared resolute. For a moment, he was indecisive.

From this perspective, Fang Yuan’s status in the Fang Family was clearly not high!

The situation reached a deadlock until a voice called out from a distance. ”No need. Let him through.”

The voice came from behind. Before Wen Yu could turn around, a figure was already approaching him. The newcomer wore a dark green military uniform. The insignia on his shoulder made it difficult for Wen Yu to determine the man’s military rank.

The man smiled slightly at Wen Yu and introduced himself. ”My name is Fang Wenhai. You could say I’m Fang Yuan’s cousin.” Then, Fang Wenhai pointed to the insignia on his shoulder and calmly stated, ”This is the insignia of a special unit established by the military after the apocalypse began. I serve as a captain in it.”

Fang Wenhai then waved at the two Servants, who immediately retreated to the side.

A hesitant Fang Yuan stepped forward. ”Greetings, Cousin.”

Fang Wenhai paid little attention to his good-for-nothing cousin, merely nodding. ”You can go about your business. I’ll take Mr. Wen Yu in.”

Ignoring Fang Yuan’s sullen expression, he walked straight into the courtyard.

Wen Yu first glanced at Fang Wenhai, who was striding forward, then at Fang Yuan. He shrugged slightly and followed Fang Wenhai.

”Fang Yuan is my cousin, but strictly speaking, our kinship is somewhat distant,” Fang Wenhai said as they walked further in. ”I’m a rather distant relative of the Fang Family. You should be able to guess why I’m here today.”

Wen Yu nodded in understanding. It was for no other reason than Fang Wenhai being Level 4! This level was absolutely dominant among the current professionists.

However, for this fellow to appear here today, it could only be said that his luck wasn’t great.

”Actually, I have another purpose in coming today,” Fang Wenhai suddenly stopped and whispered. ”You take care of the inside, I’ll manage the outside. When you give the signal, I’ll make my move!”

”Also,” he added, ”be careful of the trump cards these Aristocratic Families might hold...”

After saying this, Fang Wenhai turned and walked back out of the mansion.

Watching Fang Wenhai’s figure disappear out the gate, a thought surfaced in Wen Yu’s mind.

Commander Lin clearly doesn’t trust me!
