Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 275: Chapter 68: We Are Alike (Extra Updates 10/10 for Alliance Hierarch Bai)_1

A perfectly good Level 4 reinforcement had died so easily at Wen Yu’s hands, without even being able to damage the enemy.

The Ancient Demon only briefly lamented this.

To the Demon Tribe, a Level 4 Demon Fiend was just a grain of sand in the Demon Army. It was impossible for the Ancient Demon to feel any regret.

Besides, in the Ancient Demon’s eyes, the death of the Blue-skinned Demon was not completely worthless.

At least it knew now that the human expert outside was not weak and needed to be dealt with cautiously.

Wen Yu glanced at the Ancient Demon descending the city wall emotionlessly, then at the Blue-skinned Demon’s corpse, a slight sneer playing on his lips.

After instructing Star and Cyclops to enjoy their meal, Wen Yu sat directly on the ground, took out his communicator, and listened to the continuous flow of intelligence it broadcast.

”A Demon Tribe scouting team has been found to the south, comprising one Third-level Demon Fiend and ten Level 2 Demon Fiends...”

”Two stray Demon Fiends have been spotted in the east, both with Third-level strength, requesting support...”

All sorts of information streamed from the communicator, ensuring Wen Yu wasn’t sitting there ignorant of everything.

From these reports, it was clear there were still sporadic Demon Fiends scattered across the treasure land battlefield.

Regrettably, these small fry aren’t worth my effort to hunt down; they can be left for the military’s warriors to clean up.

And with Wen Yu pinning down the Demon City, the scales of victory had slowly begun to tip towards the Human Race—at least, that was how it seemed to most soldiers.

He glanced at his wristwatch; nearly twelve hours had passed.

Wen Yu instructed Cyclops and Star to stay alert, then rested his head on Cyclops’s body.

Though the body was warm and smelled somewhat of blood, Wen Yu didn’t mind such minor details.

Raising his hand, he wished the remaining Level 4 Demon Fiend on guard duty on the city wall goodnight. He paid no mind to its twisted expression and promptly dozed off.

Since I’ve vowed to blockade the Demon City, I absolutely won’t back out halfway!

Going back to the Outpost would achieve nothing, as I’d still be idle. I might as well wait here for the Demon Tribe’s powerful experts!

It’s only a matter of fighting, and my own strength is enough to handle most crises in this treasure land! Even a Level 5 Ancient Demon!

Besides, even if I did encounter a Level 5 Ancient Demon, I still have plenty of defensive items in my space ring, not to mention Faceless! It’s not certain who would kill whom!

「Meanwhile, at the Outpost Command Center」

Upon receiving the intelligence Wen Yu had sent, all tactical commanders immediately sprang into action.

Simultaneously, after receiving images relayed by drones, the Research Department also began studying the protective device.

Of course, since the only available data consisted of a few images, the Research Department was destined to find nothing of significance.

Witnessing the bustling activity in the Outpost, Fang Wenhai nodded in approval and turned to walk out of the city.

As the Chief Commanding Officer of the Outpost, Fang Wenhai naturally understood the current situation perfectly.

Thanks to Sequence Number 2, the Human Race currently held a significant advantage. The Demon Fiends outside the Demon City had also been thoroughly decimated by the military’s warriors.

However, just as the Human Race had powerful experts like Sequence Number 2, there was no guarantee the Demon Tribe wouldn’t also have experts of that caliber.

If Sequence Number 2 were pinned down by an enemy expert, the situation would revert to the previous stalemate where the Human Race dared not make a move.

Therefore, reinforcements were indispensable.

And according to messages relayed by the communicator yesterday, Lin Haifeng would dispatch numerous high-level professionists to the Outpost today.

This also signified that the first major battle between the Human Race and the Demon Tribe was about to erupt.

「Northeast, Harbin, Ice City.」

Gazing at the somewhat desolate Ice City, Peng Jun heaved a sincere sigh.

After a moment of silence, Peng Jun spoke.

”What’s the status on locating the demon spawn?”

The black-robed man respectfully replied, ”Reporting to the Sect Hierarch, the demon spawn is currently nesting on the top floor of Wanda Plaza. All Humans in the vicinity have been slaughtered by it!”

Peng Jun nodded. ”Let’s go.”

The two were naturally swift. In less than half an hour, they had traversed most of Harbin City.

Before they even neared the demon spawn’s territory, a piercing hawk’s cry echoed from afar.

Upon hearing this sound, a flash of excitement flickered in Peng Jun’s eyes before vanishing. His figure then abruptly accelerated, rushing towards the sound’s origin.

Above Haxi District’s Wanda Plaza, an azure giant eagle with a wingspan exceeding twenty meters proudly raised its head. A stream of Deep Blue air erupted from its beak, blasting towards a drone in the sky!

The drone’s reaction was laughable before the azure giant eagle. Before it could make any move, the airflow struck it, instantly encasing it in a large block of ice that shattered upon hitting the ground.

Had Wen Yu been present, he would have instantly recognized this Giant Eagle as the former overlord of Chaihe Town, the one Star had driven out!

The Giant Eagle scanned its surroundings, trying to spot any other little spies. After a moment, its gaze locked onto the area ahead.

There, Peng Jun’s figure flickered in and out of view.

Peng Jun swiftly dodged an incoming blast of cold air, simultaneously retreating two steps while raising his hands to show he had no ill intent.

The Giant Eagle, however, paid this no heed. Seeing Peng Jun dodge its attack, it shrieked furiously. Spreading its wings, its cries echoed far and wide; it was clearly enraged by the tiny insect before it.

Seeing this, Peng Jun sighed, then directly unfastened his military uniform, revealing the black crystal on his chest.

Black Light flowed ceaselessly over it. Simultaneously, the black crystal on the Giant Eagle’s forehead reacted instantly!

The two mysterious black crystals seemed to share some strange connection. Guided by them, Peng Jun’s and the Giant Eagle’s consciousnesses instantly linked.

Kill... kill... kill all these insolent insects...

The killing intent in the Giant Eagle’s mind was incredibly strong. It seemed that, while alone, it had been harassed and hunted by professionists more than a few times. Of course, the outcome was obvious: the Giant Eagle was still alive, while the professionists who had troubled it had become decorations in its nest.

I mean no harm!

Peng Jun attempted to communicate with the Giant Eagle.

The effect was remarkable!

Given the Giant Eagle’s size, it had already advanced to Level 4, and its intelligence was sufficient to understand human speech.

Unfortunately, the black crystal on its head frequently emitted a peculiar Spiritual Fluctuation that disrupted the Giant Eagle’s mind, preventing it from comprehending any attempts at communication.

Whether from Humans or mutant beasts!

The Spiritual Fluctuation originating from Peng Jun, however, seemed to possess a special quality, causing the Giant Eagle’s mind to clear instantly.

Who are you? Why... why do I feel a sense of kinship with you...?

Hearing the Giant Eagle’s Spiritual Fluctuation, Peng Jun exhaled in relief; a great weight had been lifted from his heart.

We are kin! We are both... demon spawn...
