Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 290: Chapter 80 The Curtain Rises (For the Alliance Hierarch’s crazy wait of 50,000 rewards plus more 4/5)_1

With the emergence of the first Level 5 lizard-shaped Demon Fiend, behind it, the vortex that the Demon Realm’s Gate had transformed into churned as one after another, lizard-shaped Demon Fiends darted out from the black hole!

These Demon Fiends, apart from their varying sizes, looked identical!

With the appearance of more and more lizard-shaped Demon Fiends, the entire Demon City, every nook and cranny, was filled with these uncanny creatures!

In the sky, the Blood Beast couldn’t help but shiver at the sight of the lizard-shaped Demon Fiends on the ground!

It’s actually... their lair... He connected to Balu’s lair... This madman...

Perhaps it was the Blood Beast, circling incessantly in the sky, that alarmed the Balu Monsters swarming all over the ground. These eyeless creatures all turned their heads simultaneously to look towards the sky!

Several Level Five Balu Monsters, amidst countless lower-level ones, despite not truly possessing the concept of a ’gaze,’ still made the Blood Beast—or rather, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend within it—bristle, its very hairs standing on end.

”Hello... everyone...”

The Blood Beast, trembling in the sky, transmitted a Spiritual Fluctuation, attempting to greet the Balu Monsters on the ground.

Unfortunately, they simply didn’t buy it!

To put it another way, these Terrifying Demon Monsters, dreaded even within the Demon Tribe, would consume anything—except polite greetings!

And as fate would have it, their favorite dish happened to be... Demon Fiends!

A guttural rumbling emitted from the mouths of several Level Five Balu Monsters, and then all the Balu Monsters on the ground gaped wide!

Countless slimy tongues shot towards the Blood Beast in the sky at an alarming speed.

A few Level Five Demon Fiends were particularly quick and powerful, ensnaring the Blood Beast’s ankles in an instant!

Taken aback by this sudden attack from what it considered its own kind, the Blood Beast panicked. It hastily tried to shake off the tongues on its ankles!

Unfortunately, before the Blood Beast could make a move, more slender tongues surged towards it, wrapping around the Blood Beast en masse!

Then, all the Balu Monsters in the city pulled together!

The Blood Beast, utterly incapable of resisting such immense force, spiraled towards the ground like a crashing plane!

”No... we’re... allies...”

Before the Soot Skin Demon Fiend could utter another word, the Balu Monsters in the city, as if they had found a delectable snack, pounced directly onto the Blood Beast!

In an instant, the terrifying sound of chewing rang out from the hulking group of Balu Monsters that surrounded the Blood Beast, accompanied by the pitiful shrieks of the Soot Skin Demon Fiend within!

”Save me... Save me!!!”

Perhaps the Great Demon Lord heard the Soot Skin Demon Fiend’s plea, for a Balu Monster even larger than the others emerged from the black hole.

The only noticeable difference was that atop this Balu Monster’s head stood a grotesquely shaped demon spawn.

This demon spawn had sickly green skin. Its four short legs barely supported its stout body, which was topped by a disproportionately large head. Above its huge single eye, a black Mysterious Crystal was clearly visible.

This, too, was a demon spawn!

The demon spawn frowned slightly upon seeing the Balu Monsters swarming the Blood Beast. At the same time, a sound issued from its mouth.

”Stop it, darlings... This isn’t your prey!”

Its distorted, ear-piercing voice carried a faint Spiritual Fluctuation.

Sensing this Spiritual Fluctuation, the Balu Monsters immediately scattered, revealing the Blood Beast within!

The Blood Beast’s appearance hadn’t changed. After all, with its undying ability, as long as the Blood Beast’s duration hadn’t expired, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend within it would naturally be unharmed.

However, the most terrifying aspect of these Balu Monsters was their mindlessness. They would fixate on their prey, tearing at it relentlessly until either the prey died or they themselves perished.

Without the demon spawn’s command, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend would undoubtedly have been torn limb from limb!

Seeing the Balu Monsters scatter, the Blood Beast within immediately scrambled up and, trembling, approached the demon spawn.

”Master...”

The demon spawn gave the Blood Beast a slight smile, revealing a mouthful of black, terrifying fangs.

”Tell me, what is this place exactly?”

”Master, this is...”

The Soot Skin Demon Fiend, suppressing the trembling in its heart, recounted the rules of this treasure land and the battle that had just transpired.

After listening, the demon spawn nodded.

”Then, you shall follow me. Your ability is at least somewhat useful. Besides, this treasure land can only accommodate beings up to Peak Level 5 strength. The ’big babies’ can’t come out, so relying on these ’little babies’...”

The demon spawn mused for a long time, then slowly shook its head and patted the large head of the Balu Monster beneath it.

”Revert from that state and sit beside me!”

Hearing the demon spawn’s unquestionable tone, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend hesitated before nodding. It immediately reverted from its Blood Beast form to its original appearance and crawled onto the Balu Monster’s body.

Seeing the Soot Skin Demon Fiend’s obedience, the demon spawn nodded in satisfaction.

”A new world... I wonder if the natives of this world are as delicious as Demon Fiends...”

Seeing the demon spawn licking its lips, the Soot Skin Demon Fiend instantly shuddered!

At the same time, it recalled the legends about Balu Monsters within the Demon Tribe.

...

Balu Monsters were a special group within the Demon Tribe.

They inherently lacked intelligence but possessed bizarre combat abilities and a terrifying reproduction rate. Moreover, these creatures would devour any and all flesh.

This led to the Balu Monsters becoming like a plague in the Demon Realm, constantly wreaking havoc.

Furthermore, their terrifying adaptability to any environment made these detestable things impossible to eliminate.

It wasn’t until the Ancient Demon Tribe and the upper echelons of the Demon Palace had studied their habits for a long time that they finally found a way to control the Balu Monsters.

Using the flesh and blood of Balu Monsters, a special biological race was cultivated to guide them.

The plan was a success. A new species emerged.

Although their own combat abilities were very weak, as long as they led Balu Monsters, each member of their race was equivalent to an invincible legion.

However, this newly emerged race inherited a vice from the Balu Monsters.

Compared to other creatures, they had a greater appetite for Demon Fiends...

Fortunately, this new race possessed intelligence, meaning they could communicate, be reasoned with, and would compromise.

Under a series of control measures, the Balu Monsters were successfully integrated into the Demon Legion.

However, no Demon Fiend liked to associate with these Balu Monsters.
