Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 271: Chapter 64: The Next One! (Extra updates 9/10 for Alliance Hierarch Bai)_1

Ten minutes later, the last Demon Fiend was killed by Wen Yu’s spear. The entire battlefield was left with nothing more than corpses and Demon Blood, leaving behind only magic crystals. Not a single living Demon Fiend remained! Similarly, not one Demon Fiend chose to flee, which undoubtedly lightened Wen Yu’s workload and also increased his spoils.

Upon witnessing the end of the battle, Star and Cyclops buried their heads and began voraciously consuming the surrounding Demon Beast Corpses, occasionally chewing on some magic crystals. The flesh and blood of the Demon Tribe, as well as the magic crystals, provided the primary energy sources for Cyclops and Star’s advancement. Of course, the evolutionary effects produced by low-level flesh, blood, and magic crystals on the two were almost negligible.

Ignoring Cyclops and Star, who were feasting heartily, Wen Yu began to check his loot while picking up the magic crystals scattered everywhere.

One Level 4 magic crystal, almost 200 Third-level magic crystals, and thousands of Level 2 and Level 1 magic crystals...

After roughly estimating the points he had gained, which approached 2,000,000, Wen Yu nodded in satisfaction.

The Level 4 bull demon had provided Wen Yu with over 10,000 points and one Level 4 magic crystal. The rest came from the cannon fodder!

From this, one could see that hunting creatures of the same level to increase one’s power was definitely a thankless task!

He made a quick internal calculation: a Level 4 attributeless magic crystal cost 20,000 points, and an Attributed Magic Crystal cost 50,000 points. So, 2,000,000 points equated to 100 Level 4 attributeless magic crystals, which meant 50 physique points! Plus, there was the vast number of magic crystals he had collected! The treasure land itself had an Exchange Stone Pillar, located within the city of the Human Race. After returning to the city and assimilating all the gains from this battle, his physique could soar to around 270 points, already more than halfway to the Peak Level 4 threshold of 500 points!

So, as they say, war creates powerful experts; this is much faster than sweeping up mutant beasts! The harvest could only be described as very satisfying. At this pace, if he swept away the remaining three Demon Tribe Troops, his physique could increase to at least around 400 points! It’s just that the small Soul Beast is a big consumer of magic crystals! And the strengthening speed of Cyclops and Star is a bit slow.

Wen Yu glanced again at Cyclops and Star, who were feasting heartily nearby.

The flesh and blood obtained in this battle were nowhere near enough to bring about any significant strengthening for Cyclops or Star. If his and the Soul Beast’s physique advanced to Peak Level 4 while Cyclops and Star still lagged behind, Wen Yu would have no choice but to spend points on same-level magic crystals to improve their physique.

Meanwhile, a doubt arose in Wen Yu’s mind. Because of the Exchange Stone Pillar, the speed of Human evolution was just too fast! After pondering for a long while with a frown, Wen Yu finally understood. Not everyone could encounter such a favorable combat environment! And not everyone possessed the strength to single-handedly crush an entire Demon Tribe Army!

It could be foreseen that when the Demon Tribe invasion began, a polarization would inevitably occur among Human professionists. Powerful experts would find it easier to obtain points, and their strength would also increase faster, significantly widening the gap between them and the weaker individuals!

Gazing at the mangled corpses scattered on the ground, a flicker of greed flashed in Wen Yu’s eyes!

After exerting tremendous effort and enduring countless trials since the beginning of the apocalypse, he had finally reached this day! Finally, today, the strong foundation he had painstakingly laid was beginning to pay off! His formidable power would undoubtedly bring him a bountiful harvest in this outpost battle!

「Half an hour later.」

Wen Yu had already finished collecting the magic crystals on the ground. He lay quietly on a small earthen mound, looking up at the perpetually pale sky in this treasure land.

Cyclops and Star were still eating.

When quality was lacking, quantity had to compensate. The Demon Tribe corpses scattered all over the ground could also bring some minor evolutionary effects to Cyclops and Star.

Behind him, from the direction Wen Yu had come, a panting figure ran over quickly.

Judging by the sound, it was that stubborn Zhao Mingming.

Before Zhao Mingming could get close, he saw Wen Yu lying on the ground.

”Commander, Commander, are you all right?”

The tone of his voice clearly indicated his worry for Wen Yu’s safety.

Wen Yu shook his head and gestured towards the battlefield below.

Only then did Zhao Mingming look down the earthen mound.

Amidst the corpses and mangled flesh scattered everywhere, two gigantic soul pets were rapidly feasting.

”This...”

Zhao Mingming silently observed the battlefield for a moment, then turned his head and spoke seriously to Wen Yu, ”Reporting, Commander. I believe there was an error in our intel this time. The Demon Tribe you annihilated might have been a small unit that split off from the main force.”

”Oh?”

Hearing this, Wen Yu was quite surprised!

”So, what was the approximate number of Demon Fiends in the main force you mentioned?”

”Reporting, Commander. Based on our observations, this unit of Demon Tribe Troops had one Level 4 Demon Fiend, less than 300 Third-level Demon Fiends, and nearly ten thousand other Demon Fiends!”

Hearing Zhao Mingming’s answer, Wen Yu nodded and glanced again at the devastated battlefield.

Cyclops and Star each possessed a fire-type ability—Flames of Tyranny and Dragon Flame! The Demon Fiends killed by these two abilities were completely incinerated, naturally leaving no trace. Moreover, these two skills were the beasts’ primary means of crowd control. Combined with the fact that the two had also consumed a portion, it meant that at least four-fifths of the Demon Fiends on the battlefield appeared to be missing!

Wen Yu had no intention of explaining. He just nodded to Zhao Mingming and said, ”Contact the others and find the location of the next Demon Tribe Army.”

Zhao Mingming nodded, then said to Wen Yu with a hesitant expression, ”Commander, I think it’s better not to look for the main force. There are Level 4 Demon Fiends in it. I’m afraid you...”

Zhao Mingming didn’t finish his sentence, clearly worried he might hurt Wen Yu’s pride.

Wen Yu shook his head. ”Just do as I said and find them. Also, inform headquarters that this Devil Army has been eliminated. One Level 4 Demon Fiend, two hundred Third-level Demon Fiends—that count is correct.”

With that, without waiting for Zhao Mingming to say anything, Wen Yu walked down from the battlefield and said to the two soul pets still eating, ”Let’s go! On to the next one! We’ll ride Star this time; it’ll be faster!”

Cyclops forcefully swallowed the Third-level Demon Fiend in its mouth, then its body immediately shrank, and it hopped onto Star’s back.

Wen Yu said to the bewildered Zhao Mingming at his side, ”Hurry up and get on, then quickly search for intel!”

Although Zhao Mingming was still skeptical of Wen Yu’s earlier words, he quickly carried out the order. He swiftly climbed onto Star’s back, took out a walkie-talkie, and began rapidly communicating with the other scouts.
