Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 241: Chapter 38: The Last Lunch_1

”Tsk, tsk, the end of the world...”

Wen Yu didn’t mean anything special; it was just a simple sigh. He put the photo back in its place and then took a careful look around the room.

After a while, Wen Yu stopped behind the desk.

”Cyclops, can you smell what this is?”

Wen Yu pointed at a damp spot on the floor.

Cyclops stepped forward and sniffed forcefully.

”WOOF WOOF.”

”He can’t smell anything,” Wen Yu observed. He nodded, then turned and left the room.

It was clear that Wanping had run away and had used something to eliminate his scent.

When Wen Yu left the factory, he hesitated at the gate for a while before heading towards Central City.

Wanping had run away. Wen Yu had caught some of the more powerful professionists and questioned them carefully about Wanping’s whereabouts, but regrettably, no one knew.

”This kid isn’t stupid!” Wen Yu sighed and shook his head.

Wen Yu understood. Wanping must have guessed that I would come looking for trouble, regardless of whether Guan Tao or he himself survived, so he fled first. As for pursuing him further? My only means of tracking is Cyclops’ nose. Besides, a Level 4 professionist running wild? Who could possibly keep up? How long would it take to find him? Eradicating someone completely depends on the effort required! The cost-effectiveness of chasing Wanping is simply too low.

Shaking his head, Wen Yu made his way directly towards Central City.

By the time Wen Yu returned to Central City, it was already completely dark.

First, he found Wang Zhigang and asked him to keep an eye out for Wanping.

Although Wen Yu inwardly doubted whether Wang Zhigang’s men could find Wanping, he still had to try.

After chatting casually with Wang Zhigang for a bit, Wen Yu went to his room, preparing to have a good night’s rest.

Too many things had happened that day, leaving Wen Yu somewhat tired.

The night passed uneventfully. Early the next morning, Wen Yu was already up.

Downstairs in Wang Zhigang’s room, Wang Zhigang had already arranged for breakfast, and Xiao Xue was also there.

Seeing Xiao Xue, Wen Yu spoke directly, ”In a little while, I plan to go home to pack a few things, and then we’ll go to Yanjing together.”

The so-called packing was really just an excuse for him to take one last look at his little den.

Xiao Xue nodded upon hearing Wen Yu’s words. ”I’ll go with you.”

Xiao Xue reflected on her trip to Mudanjiang City. Her original purpose hadn’t been achieved, and she’d even lost all her trusted subordinates. Fortunately, being able to bring Sequence Number 2 back to Yanjing meant it wasn’t a complete failure.

Wen Yu nodded at Xiao Xue, then turned to Wang Zhigang.

”When I leave in a bit, I won’t be coming back. There are a few things I need to tell you.”

Seeing Wen Yu’s somewhat serious expression, Wang Zhigang nodded and listened intently.

”In the near future, communicate with the military. Ask them to send some powerful experts and heavy firepower here. I don’t know when I’ll be back from my trip to Yanjing. If I haven’t returned to find you within three months, then you must organize the survivors of Mudanjiang City and collectively relocate to Yanjing. Remember, this is very important!”

Wang Zhigang looked at Wen Yu in confusion, then nodded.

”Remember, this is really important. It concerns the lives of everyone in this city!”

Wen Yu stressed this point to Wang Zhigang once more, then turned and headed outside.

After killing Simba, Wen Yu couldn’t guarantee that Mudanjiang City would still stand strong in the demon plague as it had in his previous life. Although this was his hometown, if anything delayed him and prevented him from returning the moment the demon plague began, the survivors of Mudanjiang City would have absolutely no chance of withstanding it!

Behind him, Xiao Xue, who had caught up, spoke in a deliberately lowered voice, ”You also know what’s going to happen in four months?”

As the military’s Number One Super Warrior, Xiao Xue naturally knew about the demon plague.

Wen Yu nodded.

”Actually, sending them to Yanjing is indeed the best option,” Xiao Xue continued. ”Although Yanjing is currently being rebuilt, various facilities and structures are still incomplete and require a large number of people and warriors. Commander Lin also intends to gather all survivors in Cathay to Yanjing when the demon plague starts. Unfortunately...” Xiao Xue trailed off, shaking her head with a somewhat troubled expression.

It’s probably due to some internal military squabbles over power and benefits. As the saying goes, wherever there are people, there are conflicts. The military is a deep and murky pond! Wen Yu thought.

”Stop thinking about all that useless stuff,” Wen Yu said to Xiao Xue. ”Let’s go home, pack up, and then leave for Yanjing immediately!”

Xiao Xue nodded, her tone shifting. ”When we get to Yanjing, I’ll take you out to have some fun! There are so many fun places in Yanjing now, and I can introduce you to some new friends. You have no idea about my girlfriends...”

Listening to Xiao Xue’s cheerful chatter behind him, Wen Yu shook his head helplessly.

Still, going to Yanjing with Xiao Xue would undoubtedly be much more convenient.

Standing at the door of his room, Wen Yu took one last look at his little den and then sighed.

He had only been back for a few days, but this simple place had undoubtedly stirred many emotions within him.

He closed the door decisively. Xiao Xue had already fixed the lock.
