Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 227: Chapter 25: The Three Fronts are at War!_1

Wen Yu frowned at the sight of the charging Cyclops, his eyes filled with solemnity.

Wen Yu was well aware of Cyclops’s strength. Once that guy went berserk, few creatures within Level 4 could best him.

But now he was being chased around; clearly, some unforeseen changes had occurred.

”What happened?” Wen Yu couldn’t help asking as he heard the loud noises coming from behind Cyclops.

”WOOF WOOF.”

”Another me appeared.”

”Another you? What do you mean?”

”WOOF WOOF.”

This time, Cyclops’s barks held no particular meaning, just pure threat—a threat aimed at the creature pursuing him from behind!

Wen Yu glanced at Guan Tao, who was slowly walking away, then at the gigantic creature about to appear before him. After pondering for a moment, he chose to ignore Guan Tao’s actions.

Compared to the creature capable of chasing Cyclops away, Guan Tao’s threat was pitifully small.

Ahead, accompanied by thunderous footsteps and a slight trembling of the earth, an earth-yellow figure slowly materialized before Wen Yu.

Wen Yu naturally recognized it; it was Simba.

Examining Simba’s ten-meter-tall body, Wen Yu fell silent for a while, then turned to Cyclops and said, ”It can’t be this guy who’s got you running around like this, can it?”

Ever since Cyclops had become his companion, his strength had increased at an accelerating rate, and his skill combinations were terrifyingly effective—all plain to see. To say that Cyclops, also Level 4, couldn’t defeat Simba, whose physical attributes were nearly identical, was something Wen Yu refused to believe!

After all, despite Simba’s strength, he was merely a minor overlord from a fourth-tier city. Wen Yu, on the other hand, was an authentic Sequence Number 2 of the Human Race!

”WOOF WOOF.”

”There’s another one...”

Actually, Wen Yu already knew why Cyclops had fled the moment the familiar figure appeared beside Simba; Cyclops didn’t need to explain.

”WOOF WOOF.”

”Same skills, same fighting style.”

Wen Yu listened to Cyclops’s explanation and, after a moment, nodded.

”Your decision to flee was correct!”

As Cyclops’s owner, Wen Yu was well aware of his pet’s monstrous nature. Without hesitation, he immediately activated the 3rd Soul Realm and summoned Star back!

...

With a flicker of purple light, Star’s small body squeezed out of the spatial rift.

In its miniature state, Star’s power was still formidable; it could, at the very least, hunt down and kill a mid-Third Stage human without needing to adopt its battle form.

”I killed two, but I couldn’t find the other one.”

As soon as Star landed, it telepathically relayed the results of its battle to Wen Yu before assessing the surroundings.

Nearby were Wen Yu and Cyclops, along with Xiao Xue, who still hadn’t left Wen Yu’s side.

Behind Wen Yu and the others stood Guan Tao.

Guan Tao had already shuffled to the edge of the forest, about to leave the main battlefield. Wen Yu, fully aware of this, chose to ignore him.

In front of Star stood two ten-meter-tall figures, one yellow and one gray.

Looking at the familiar figures ahead, Star was evidently caught off guard.

It first turned its head to look at its companion, Cyclops, then at the Faux Cyclops in front. Visibly perplexed, Star scratched its head.

”Brother Dog, your sibling.”

”WOOF WOOF.”

”That’s a fake. It’s something that transformed.”

Cyclops relayed every detail of what had just transpired to Wen Yu and Star in their minds.

”A sacred beast? Are you sure that’s a mutant creature and not some strange item?”

”WOOF WOOF.”

”That’s what the black-robed man said.”

Wen Yu nodded in understanding.

Staring at the Faux Cyclops before him, Wen Yu squinted. A torrent of emotions welled up inside him.

Clearly, Wen Yu was tempted!

Currently, his Fourth Soul was vacant, but mutant beasts capable of catching his eye were few and far between.

If he had a soul pet that could transform into other appearances, its potential usefulness would be tremendous!

Perhaps even greater than Star’s.

Even if that creature wasn’t a mutant beast, the most it would cost him was the three-day cooldown period for his contract.

That was time Wen Yu could afford to wait!

...

Behind Simba and the Faux Cyclops, the black-robed leader and another black-robed man slowly emerged.

”Wen Yu, long time no see,” a somewhat suppressed voice came from the other black-robed man.

”And who are you?”

The black-robed man removed his hood, revealing the face hidden beneath.

Recognizing the familiar figure, Wen Yu nodded.

”Indeed, it has been a long time. But you don’t look so well; it seems you won’t survive today.”

The black-robed man who had removed his hood was Wanping.

”It’s not as grave as you make it sound.”

After a moment of contemplation, Wanping finally understood that Wen Yu was implying he would definitely die here today.

”As for you,” Wanping continued, ”we don’t have a deep-seated grudge. If you hand over your dog, I can guarantee you a way out alive.”

”Wanping, that won’t do. Haven’t we already agreed? You get your revenge, and then this man and his mutant beast’s body are ours,” the other black-robed man interjected.

Hearing this, Wanping fell silent for a moment, then slowly nodded. It now seemed that even with the Demon Worship Sect’s manpower and their sacred beast, they couldn’t be certain of overpowering Wen Yu.The possibility of annihilating everyone present was no longer realistic.

Then...

”Brother Tao, you should leave. The upcoming battle is beyond your capabilities.”

Guan Tao, who had already retreated to a distance, heard Wanping’s words, nodded immediately, turned, and fled down the mountain.

”You should leave too,” Wen Yu said to Xiao Xue without turning his head. ”And you owe me one.”

Xiao Xue looked at the remaining combatants; none were below Level 4. She realized how ludicrous her desire for personal revenge was. Immediately, she summoned her soul pet, Qi Qi, and fled.

Only Wen Yu and his two soul pets remained, facing two men and their two beasts.

...

Wen Yu eyed Wanping, whose face was pale, and the still-hooded black-robed man. After a brief telepathic exchange with Cyclops and Star, he launched an attack on Wanping!

Gunfire roared. Bullets struck where Wanping had been standing, but he had already dodged.

Simba roared furiously and charged straight at Wen Yu, only to be intercepted by a figure of similar size!

It was Cyclops who blocked Simba.

Cyclops’s front paws mercilessly pounded Simba’s body, while Flames of Tyranny continuously spewed from his mouth, making Simba stagger.

The two Level 4 mutant beasts, entangled, rolled away into the distance.

”Follow them! Kill that dog!” the black-robed man commanded the Faux Cyclops, which still stood motionless. Just as it was about to turn, a much larger black figure seized it!

Two of its hind claws clamped onto the Faux Cyclops’s spine. Simultaneously, Star spread its wings—a span of nearly thirty meters—blotting out the sky!

Its gleaming scales, fearsome fangs, razor-sharp claws, and its twenty-meter-long body—all of it wordlessly conveyed the terror of this monster to anyone who had never witnessed Star’s battle form!

The black-robed man stared dumbfounded at the terrifying monster. He watched as Star flapped its wings, whipping up a furious wind on the ground, and then saw it carry the Faux Cyclops away into the distance!

This was Wen Yu’s plan: Divide the battlefield and, using the overwhelming individual power of Cyclops and Star, swiftly eliminate Simba and the Faux Cyclops.

As for these two individuals before him...

Wen Yu himself would be no easy opponent!
