Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 210: Chapter 10: The Military (Sponsored by yang199174, 4/5)_1

”I am Sequence Number 2!”

When he pronounced those words, Wen Yu was no longer the solitary wanderer. He was not just the cannon fodder who had struggled for survival in his past life. He stood at the pinnacle of the Human Race as a super-powerful expert!

Seeing the confused expression on the face of the woman in military uniform on the screen, Wen Yu sighed. The concept of a Sequence was too high-level for an office-bound communications officer like her!

”You may not understand what this title means. You can go ask your superior. If your superior doesn’t know, they can ask their superior! Someone has to know!”

The woman in military uniform glanced at Wang Zhigang, who was standing behind Wen Yu, then at the hesitant communications officer from Mudanjiang City, and shook her head after a moment.

”I’m sorry, this is against the rules! Please have your communications team leader meet me!”

This was the so-called bureaucratic attitude, a clear disadvantage of large organizations!

”I killed him!”

Responding to the woman in military uniform was Wen Yu’s calm voice.

”I am not part of your military. Strictly speaking, I am an independent hero. I initiated this communication to discuss some matters with the military, but these are not matters you can discuss with me. Go find your superior.”

”If you still don’t understand, let me put it this way: I am very powerful—Level 4! And right now, I hold the lives of all the survivors in Mudanjiang Central City in my hands. You can consider me a kidnapper, and I am currently negotiating terms with you. Understand now?”

Then, unseen by the camera, Wen Yu kicked Wang Zhigang a few times.

Wang Zhigang hesitated. Wen Yu’s words just now... there was an upside for him!At the very least, the way Wen Yu put it, he was immediately absolved of any guilt relating to the death of the uniformed man.

Actually, Wang Zhigang didn’t need to react. When the communications officer on the other side of the screen heard the words ”Level 4,” she immediately jerked up in shock.

Wen Yu didn’t know how high the military’s top powerful experts were ranked, but the woman in military uniform did! Currently, the only publicly known Level 4 powerful expert in the military was the War God, and him alone. Even among the military’s super warriors, not one had reached Level 4!

So, when Wen Yu uttered the words ”Level 4,” all problems regarding procedures and rules ceased to be issues!

”Please wait a moment!”

After briefly saying these three words, the woman in military uniform hastily rose from her seat and ran, flustered, towards her superior’s office!

...

When the woman in military uniform relayed Wen Yu’s words to her superior, tragically, this immediate superior also didn’t know what Sequence Number 2 signified. But she absolutely knew what Level 4 meant.

She immediately called her own superior.

Then, the news that Sequence Number 2 had requested communication was passed up the chain of command, one level at a time, until it reached the hands of a particular person!

...

In a luxurious conference room, a meeting of the military’s super-powerful experts was underway.

A large projector beside them clearly displayed the military’s attack routes to retake lost territory, marked with several large black dots. These dots represented the locations of powerful mutant creatures known to the military. They were also the mission targets for the people attending the meeting.

”On the road to Nanjing, a Peak Level 3 mutant beast has been spotted. Its species is a pig...”

”Goddamn it, even pigs aren’t behaving these days!” the man in military uniform holding the stylus grumbled while sharing the intelligence report. The lax way he wore his uniform made it evident that he wasn’t a standard military man but a powerful expert recruited into the military after the apocalypse.

After he finished grumbling, he finally noticed something was off. The one organizing the meeting today wasn’t a super warrior of his rank, but the War God himself! The most powerful expert in the military! The War God!

”Well, haha...” The man scratched his head awkwardly, shooting a sidelong glance at the young man seated at the head of the table.

He looked to be in his late twenties, perhaps not yet thirty. For professionists, the high vitality brought by their immense strength made appearing younger a straightforward feat. A military overcoat was casually draped over his shoulders, covering a very simple leisure outfit.

Hearing the uniformed man’s slightly impolite grumbling, the War God tapped his right index finger on the table.

TAP. TAP. TAP...

The crisp sound was followed by the War God’s calm, magnetic voice. ”Relax. It’s good to have your own style. Besides, as Military Super Warrior Number 7, you don’t need to show me excessive respect. I will be your squad leader. I don’t want my team members to be as stiff with me as they are in that military headquarters, that veritable graveyard!”

Hearing the War God’s words, Number 7 finally relaxed and continued to analyze the situation on the map. However, his subsequent explanation seemed much more ”official.”

”This place—the Level 4 mutant creature we observed last time—has been confirmed dead!” Number 7 pointed to a huge black dot near the Magic Capital. ”Reliable information shows that it was done by Sequence Number 5. The person in charge of the Demon Capital Assembly Site said that Sequence Number 5 is seriously injured and is being treated there. Currently, the Demon Capital Assembly Site requires a large number of personnel, weapons, and equipment. Most importantly, they request the support of military powerful experts. The mutant beasts in the nearby sea have been restless lately!”

”What a load of BS!” one of the professionists seated to the War God’s left immediately cursed disdainfully upon hearing Number 7’s report. ”Seriously injured? That’s crap! What kind of injury can’t a healing potion fix? They’re clearly just trying to get things from us! Does Peng Jun, that old thief, really think we wouldn’t dare wipe them out?”

The TAP. TAP. TAP... grew more urgent. After a moment, the War God shook his head.

”Allocate some of the new high-efficiency healing medicine from the Science Division to them, and transport a batch of heavy weapons to the Demon Capital Assembly Site. Then tell them that regarding the support of powerful experts, Yanjing also doesn’t have enough.”

”Number 10 will handle this. By the way, tell Peng Jun to be mindful that Sequence Number 5 is his only bargaining chip!”

”Understood.” The middle-aged military man sitting at the end of the table nodded to the War God.

Number 7 continued, ”Also, Lord God of War, we’ve just received the latest news: the squad escorting Professor Bai has been hijacked in City CD...”

Number 7’s lips quivered for a moment before he finally managed to get the remaining words out.

”It seems... it was Fang Bai again!”
