Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 212: Chapter 12 Trading and Friendship_1

Seeing Kuangliu’s straightforward attitude, Wen Yu smiled at him.

”Thank you.”

”It’s nothing. Now, can we discuss the important matter?”

The trivial issue just now wouldn’t warrant Sequence Number 2 personally going through the effort of establishing communication with military headquarters. Kuangliu was well aware of this.

After a moment’s consideration, Wen Yu slowly began to speak.

”I want to make a trade with you!”

「...」

”I had a very close friend! Before he died, he entrusted his daughter to me.”

”I am currently in Mudanjiang City and have some matters to attend to here, so I won’t be able to reach Yanjing City for some time. Therefore, I want to ask the military to help me find someone and protect her until I arrive in Yanjing.”

”In exchange, I am willing to solve one matter for the Yanjing Military Department!”

”However, it’s only one matter, and I reserve the right to refuse the mission!”

After listening to Wen Yu, Kuangliu, on the screen, nodded.

”For us, that’s simple. But you need to understand, the mission we would assign you will definitely not be easy!”

”That’s fine. Of course, this is provided the person you’re looking for is still alive! If she is already dead, then naturally, the deal is off!”

”Agreed.”

Kuangliu didn’t concern himself with such minor details.

Finding her would be ideal, but it wouldn’t matter if they couldn’t. As long as they had Sequence Number 2’s contact information and current location, future cooperation would always be possible. With sufficient benefits, anything could happen.

”Here is a photo and some information about the person I’m looking for.”

Wen Yu showed Sun Xuewei’s photo to the camera and then shared details such as her age and last known location.

”We will have news within three days. When we do, we will initiate communication with Mudanjiang City.”

”Okay.”

Wen Yu nodded, about to leave his seat, but Kuangliu stopped him again.

”By the way, I heard that a Peak Level 3 lion-type mutant beast has appeared in Mudanjiang City. Is that your target soul pet?”

Wen Yu thought for a moment and instantly understood that Kuangliu was talking about Simba.

”No, it’s not qualified to be my soul pet.”

”Hmm, in that case, I will send our military’s Super Warrior No. 1 to Mudanjiang City, and I would like to ask you for a personal favor!”

”Is this part of the mission from our trade?”

Kuangliu shook his head.

”No. This is a favor. We’ve established a bit of rapport now, haven’t we?”

Wen Yu remained silent for a while before slowly nodding.

”Just a reminder, I don’t like trouble.”

Kuangliu nodded.

”It’s a small matter. You don’t have to intervene when No. 1 is taming the soul pet. But if No. 1 fails, help us protect her life and kill that Level 3 mutant lion!”

After hearing Kuangliu’s words, Wen Yu pondered briefly.

Originally, my intention was to kill Simba directly, but now with the military’s request, I have to weigh my options.

After a moment, Wen Yu nodded.

”Okay.”

「...」

Killing Simba wouldn’t be difficult. Even if Simba currently possessed Level 4 strength, it definitely couldn’t withstand me and my two soul pets. The dilemma for me is whether to kill it or not! When Kuangliu brought up the Simba issue, I made a simple assessment. Instead of killing Simba, it would be better to let No. 1 form a contract with it, allowing Simba to contribute to the Human Race and Earth.

Having made his decision, Wen Yu terminated the call and headed downstairs.

Downstairs, Wang Zhigang had prepared a lavish feast for Wen Yu.

「...」

In the luxurious conference room at military headquarters, Kuangliu remained seated after ending the call. His head leaned back against the chair, eyes gazing at the ceiling, lost in thought.

After a while, Kuangliu collected himself and waved at the people waiting below.

”You can all go. Oh, and No. 1, you stay.”

”Yes, Sir!”

Following a crisp military salute, everyone except for No. 1 filed out of the conference room.

Once they were alone, No. 1 asked, ”Can we confirm it’s Sequence Number 2?”

Kuangliu nodded.

”His eyes, that confident gaze—it’s enough to prove his conviction. Even if he’s an imposter, he’s an extremely powerful expert!”

Kuangliu paused for a moment before continuing, ”At least, he’ll be stronger than Fang Bai!”

”And he’s a Soul Master too,” No. 1 added, covering her mouth as she couldn’t help but laugh.

Kuangliu looked at No. 1 with slight confusion and asked, ”What’s so amusing? He’s not one of us.”

Kuangliu’s tone had lost its earlier seriousness; his exchange with No. 1 resembled a conversation between close friends.

No. 1 shook her head, but her laughter didn’t stop.

After a moment, she finally said, ”I just find it interesting. I always thought I was the only Soul Master. I never expected another one to appear, and a Sequence Number 2 at that! Sequence Number 2, oh! He might even be stronger than you!”

Hearing No. 1’s slightly teasing tone, Kuangliu shook his head helplessly.

”Sequence numbers don’t truly represent combat capability. Take Fang Bai, for example. He’s definitely stronger than Sequence Number 5!”

”The number at least represents combat power to some degree!” No. 1 retorted.

Kuangliu shrugged and said no more.

CREAK...

The conference room doors opened.

Seeing the elderly man who entered, Kuangliu’s brows furrowed instantly.

Throughout the entire military department, only one person would dare to enter without knocking while knowing I’m in here!

The Supreme Commander of the Military—Lin Haifeng!

”I heard Sequence Number 2 initiated a call?” the elderly man asked, even before reaching Kuangliu.

Kuangliu slowly nodded. ”Yes. What are your thoughts on handling it?”

”Try our best to win him over,” Lin Haifeng stated. He then asked, ”Anything else?”

”I’m planning to send No. 1 to Mudanjiang City. The official reason is to form a contract with the mutant lion there. The actual purpose is to make contact with Sequence Number 2.”

”Very good.”

After listening to Kuangliu, Lin Haifeng casually pulled over a chair, plopped down, took a cigarette from his pocket, and began to puff away.

Watching Lin Haifeng, Kuangliu couldn’t help but frown.

”Your injuries haven’t healed yet. The doctor said you can’t smoke!”

Lin Haifeng shook his head. ”What they say doesn’t count.”

”It’s for your own good.”

”Having a smoke is what’s good for me.”

After a long silence, Kuangliu shook his head. ”Suit yourself. By the way, No. 1 and I will depart tomorrow. She’s going to Mudanjiang, and I’m heading to Chengdu.”

Lin Haifeng paused for a moment, then gave a slight nod. ”Regarding Fang Bai... if possible, don’t kill him.”

”I understand.”

In a short time, the cigarette in Lin Haifeng’s hand had burned down to the filter. Carefully extinguishing the butt, Lin Haifeng stood up and walked towards the door.

”By the way, today is my birthday,” Kuangliu’s calm voice sounded from behind him.

Lin Haifeng, who had been striding forward, stopped abruptly. ”Take half the day off. Consider it a leave from the military.”

”And... happy birthday.”

With these brief well wishes, Lin Haifeng opened the conference room doors and walked away without looking back, leaving Kuangliu and No. 1 alone.

No. 1 reached out her smooth right hand, gently taking Kuangliu’s slowly clenching fist, and softly comforted him, ”He’s very busy.”
