Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 231: Chapter 28 Demon Dragon_1

The black-robed man first glanced at Cyclops, then at Simba, who lay pinned beneath the beast.

On its enormous body, huge, gruesome wounds tore open Simba’s belly.

Caught off-guard by this ”sneak attack,” Simba’s most vulnerable spot had suffered the brunt of Cyclops’s most violent assault.

Its abdominal organs had spilled onto the ground, and fresh blood continuously oozed from its exposed veins.

The amount of blood spilled from its 10-meter-tall body could only be described as a river of blood.

And thus, the Level 4 mutant beast, a creature considered invincible at this stage, was dead!

Watching Cyclops rip out Simba’s heart and swallow it whole, the black-robed man gulped and immediately activated his third ability.

Life-Strength-Equal Exchange (A-Class, Active Ability): Consumes the vitality (can be understood as life force) in one’s body cells to quickly recover strength. Usage is unlimited, but beware: the price you pay, though unseen now, will one day lead to regret! Remember, there is no love without reason, and no reward without cause!

This ability synergized very well with Instantaneous Movement!

This was an ability gifted to him by the Sect Hierarch of the Demon Worship Sect!

In fact, all abilities of the Angel Envoys were bestowed by the Sect Hierarch!

In the current situation, the black-robed man could no longer afford to care about his so-called life force.

When life was hanging by a thread, who would cherish such illusory things?

The ability took effect rapidly, his almost depleted strength quickly replenishing. Then, as Cyclops continued to eye him, slowly tensing its body, the black-robed man quickly used Teleportation and vanished in the blink of an eye!

Cyclops watched the black-robed man disappear, then tried to pick up his scent in the air.

Unfortunately, there was no scent. Perhaps Teleportation left no trace.

Cyclops first sensed Wen Yu’s location and, after a brief mental exchange with him, proceeded to gorge itself on Simba’s carcass.

The battle was over. Now came its favorite part: gathering the spoils of war!

「...」

While Cyclops had been battling Simba, drawing further away from Wen Yu’s position, Star had grabbed the fake Cyclops and was flying towards the far side of the mountain.

Star was fully aware of Cyclops’s abilities. Despite never having fought Cyclops, Star would never underestimate its skill set.

It was a skill set purely for combat—born for battle, to die in battle!

Especially since the fake Cyclops before him possessed no intelligence!

No intelligence meant no rational thought, meaning the fake Cyclops before him wouldn’t care about its own life in the slightest!

The destructive power of a creature that disregarded its own life was bound to be terrifying!

Let alone a reckless Cyclops!!!

Star’s wings beat rapidly. Enduring the burning sensation from the Flames of Tyranny emanating from the fake Cyclops in his claws, Star quickly found a suitable location.

It was a large patch of farmland on the mountain’s far side.

This area lacked tall trees—for a flying creature like Star, trees were an impediment to combat.

After dropping the fake Cyclops to the ground, Star soared high into the sky, looking down at the fake Cyclops roaring incessantly where it had landed.

A fiery heat, tinged with tyranny, began to gleam in his eyes.

Cyclops and Star, being Wen Yu’s soul pets, naturally wouldn’t fight each other.

However, every creature desires to establish dominance over others, regardless of how close their relationship. This was competition, even against another Cyclops—or, in this case, its likeness.

Under normal circumstances, Star would never fight Cyclops, so their relative strength could not be determined. But now, circumstances had changed! A creature had appeared with combat power identical to Cyclops!

As a divine beast, Star was undeniably proud.

Therefore, this time, Star resolved to use his full strength to send this fake Cyclops to HELL!!!

「...」

Raging Flames of Tyranny erupted from the fake Cyclops’s body, swiftly forming into armor that enveloped it completely.

This was a special application of the Flames of Tyranny. As an S-Class elemental ability, its versatility in skill application was absolutely incomparable to the mere A-Class Flame Flow!

This also showed that the fake Cyclops was more adept at skill application than the original Cyclops.

Billowing waves of heat surged from the dark armor as it flickered with flames, then it rapidly changed form!

Countless spikes of black flame first sprouted from the dark armor, then shot towards Star. The fake Cyclops had actually attacked first!

Star watched the approaching black spikes, a flash of arrogance in his eyes.

The fake Cyclops on the ground had few injuries and physical attributes of just over 200 points, comparable to Star’s. If Star still needed to dodge under these circumstances, it would truly shame his divine beast lineage!

ROAR!!!

A violent roar erupted from Star’s mouth. Red light surged, and a colossal pillar of Dragon Flame blasted down towards the fake Cyclops.

Its scale and the heat it emitted were far greater than any fire pillar Cyclops or Simba could produce!

Confronted by the overwhelming Dragon Flame, the black flame spikes launched by the fake Cyclops were instantly scattered and annihilated. The Dragon Flame then poured directly onto the fake Cyclops.

And yet, the fake Cyclops didn’t move a muscle!

The Demon Worship Sect’s sacred beast was truly bizarre. Though lacking intelligence, its skill application was even stronger than the original’s!

The flames poured onto the fake Cyclops’s body, instantly vaporizing the black armor surrounding it. The flames then scorched its body, emitting a burnt, CRACKLING sound.

Its grey fur was instantly evaporated by the Dragon Flame, and then its grey skin also began to slowly carbonize. The fake Cyclops, bathed in the torrential Dragon Flame, slowly fixed its gaze on Star.

In its eyes, extreme murderous intent and battle spirit began to brew!

Star in the sky, the fake Cyclops on the ground—neither made another move. Only the CRACKLING sound of burning flesh filled the air.

The fake Cyclops was waiting, waiting for its Mortal Combat ability to enhance its physical attributes to their limit!

Star was also waiting!

Waiting for the fake Cyclops to enhance its physical attributes to the extreme, and then to have a showdown with a peak-state Cyclops!

For a moment, the entire battlefield fell into an eerie silence.

「...」

A figure appeared at high speed in the air at the outer edge of the battlefield.

It was the black-robed man!

Seeing the standoff between the fake Cyclops and Star, the corner of the black-robed man’s eye twitched violently.

The black-robed man had appeared, naturally, to recover the Demon Worship Sect’s sacred beast. Even with the Sect’s resources, a creature of this caliber was irreplaceable!

Unfortunately, after one look at Star hovering in the sky and another at the Dragon Flame enveloping the fake Cyclops, the black-robed man made an instant decision: he turned and darted into the forest. He neither wanted to, nor could he, get involved in the battle between these two monsters.

If he entered the combat zone, Star would undoubtedly unleash a torrent of Dragon Flame without hesitation.

And if hit by Star’s Dragon Flame, he would struggle to survive.

Therefore, waiting for the right moment outside the battlefield was the best choice for the black-robed man!
