Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 223: Chapter 21: Demon Worship Sect_1

”A dog, a man, and something that looks like a lizard—it’s too small for me to make out clearly.”

Magpie continued to relay the information.

”Get a little closer then. Also, tell Simba to get over here quickly. There are three Level 4s. Without Simba, it’ll be tough to deal with them.”

”Understood.”

Magpie simply replied. He first commanded a small mouse near Simba to deliver a message to him, then controlled the bird to fly towards Wen Yu’s direction.

The distance was getting shorter and shorter!

Then, he saw a bullet getting bigger and bigger!

”BANG.”

A clear gunshot resonated from the Palpitation in Wen Yu’s right hand.

Then, the bird dropped straight from mid-air.

The bullet shattered the bird’s head.

”The ’eye’ was shot down! The attacker... Ah, AHHHHHH...”

Just as Magpie was about to relay the information, an unknown force suddenly intruded his mind!

The eerie power incessantly ripped through Magpie’s nerves, as if a sharp knife had been stabbed into his brain and was being stirred wildly!

Soul Strike activated.

Magpie’s soul grafting was equivalent to extracting a part of his own soul and implanting it into the body of the grafted target.

However, this part of the soul wasn’t isolated but maintained a profound connection with Magpie.

When Palpitation’s bullet hit the bird, it destroyed the bird’s body, along with the part of Magpie’s soul that resided in it!

According to Magpie’s script, when the grafted subject was killed, this part of the soul should have returned to his main body within a short time. Unfortunately, Magpie did not live to see that moment.

Palpitation could increase the power of Soul Strike, but the extent of this enhancement was vaguely described.

As it turned out, Wen Yu was very satisfied with this enhancement!

The power of Soul Strike annihilated the soul fragment within the bird’s body. With much of its power unspent, it directly surged into Magpie’s mind through the soul connection between him and the bird!

Waves of terrifying power, like massive tsunamis, repeatedly crashed into the depths of Magpie’s soul!

Each wave of attack made Magpie scream in extreme agony.

Until, Magpie’s consciousness was directly obliterated by the power of Soul Strike!

「...」

Magpie’s screams ceased, and he lay still on the ground.

The leading black-robed man stepped forward to check Magpie’s pulse and noticed his blood-filled eyes. After a moment, he shook his head.

”He’s dead. It seemed to be a kind of mental impact skill.”

”Hmm, note it down. Be careful of this skill later.”

There wasn’t much regret in the black-robed man’s words.

”It doesn’t matter, Magpie has completed his task. As for the upcoming battle, his abilities wouldn’t be of much use anyway.”

There wasn’t much fluctuation in Wanping’s voice either.

The black-robed man nodded, then knelt before Magpie, clasped his hands together, and muttered a string of incomprehensible words.

After a while, this simple ceremony was over.

The black-robed man stood up straight, took a final glance at Magpie’s corpse, and spoke out loud.

”Congratulations, Magpie! Return to the embrace of our Demon Lord! May he attain eternal life in the Demon Realm!”

”May he attain eternal life!”

The remaining few echoed immediately.

In their voices, it wasn’t hard to discern a fanatical emotion.

The black-robed man looked at the four people below, including Wanping and Guan Tao, their faces alight with fervor. Regardless of whether their fanaticism was genuine or feigned, he raised his hands high and shouted forcefully.

”Long live the Demon Tribe! Long live the Demon Worship Sect!!!”

”Long live the Demon Tribe! Long live the Demon Worship Sect!!!”

The black-robed man nodded with satisfaction. Looking at the already dead soldiers and Xiao Xue, who was held by Guan Tao, he began to speak slowly.

”Let’s move. The target is nearby. Kill him! Use his corpse as a building block for our great Demon Worship Sect!”

Looking at the fanatical group around them, Wanping and Guan Tao exchanged a glance, a complex emotion flickering in their eyes.

These guys—both Wanping and Guan Tao understood them well.

Others called them the Forgotten, and in fact, some time ago, they referred to themselves as the Forgotten as well.

Unfortunately, under the leadership of a mysterious individual, these Forgotten, these man-eating monsters, had united. They had even acquired an alternative method of evolution!

Now, they called themselves Angel Envoys!

To put it bluntly, they wanted to voluntarily serve as the Demon Tribe’s lapdogs—in other words, human traitors!

Under the banner of faith, they committed all manner of sins!

This was the sect that hid within the shadows—the Demon Worship Sect!

「...」

When the group emerged from the cave, they saw Wen Yu standing not far from the entrance.

”Hello there.”

Wen Yu greeted them calmly, then looked at this shifty-looking bunch.

”By the way, may I ask why you are looking for me?”

His tone was relaxed with a hint of enthusiasm, as if he were meeting an old friend he hadn’t seen in a long time.

But in his heart, Wen Yu had already sentenced these individuals to death!

No, he wasn’t just planning to kill this group in front of him; he would also meticulously investigate if they had any backers. If they did, complete eradication—down to the roots—would be the best outcome!

The man in the black robe looked at the calm-faced Wen Yu and slowly nodded.

”We have a prospective follower who holds a grudge against you, so we would like to borrow your head for a while.”

Wen Yu nodded, then aimed Mad Medley in his left hand at the black-robed man and pulled the trigger!

”I was just joking with you, and you’re fucking here acting all cultured and pretentious with me? Just go die!”

”BOOM!”

The explosion thundered, and smoke instantly filled the air.

When the dust eventually settled, what Wen Yu saw was a giant shield made of compacted soil and sand.

This shield had defended against Mad Medley’s attack!

Wen Yu’s physique was 200 points, which doubled to 400 points in a combat state!

The damage inflicted by Mad Medley was equivalent to twice his current physique, compounded by the shape of its bullets.

One strike from Mad Medley was as powerful as a full-strength attack from a professionist with 800 physique points swinging a warhammer!

At present, there were very, very few professionists who could block an attack of this magnitude!

The leader in the black robe slowly made a gesture, and the Sandstone Shield in front of him gradually dispersed, revealing the figures of several people behind it.

Mad Medley’s attack wasn’t entirely ineffective. At the very least, the fierce gust from the explosion sent their robes whipping loudly, and one of them even had his hood blown off.

Looking at the somewhat familiar face before him, Wen Yu slowly lowered his gun, stared intently at the professionist, and said slowly.

”Guan Tao, right? Long time no see!”

Guan Tao nodded.

”Indeed, it’s been a long time. I didn’t expect you to still remember me.”

Wen Yu nodded.

”I have a good memory, so when I saw you, I roughly understood what this is all about.”

”So, you’re saying we’re enemies now?”

”That’s not necessarily true. Our only target is that dog.”

Wen Yu’s answer was very straightforward!

”Alright, you can have him.”

After speaking, Wen Yu promptly picked up Cyclops and forcefully threw him towards Guan Tao and his group!

At the same time, Wen Yu’s voice sounded again.

”He’s all yours. Not that you seem capable of killing him anyway!”

「...」

The moment he saw Guan Tao, Wen Yu had already communicated with Cyclops and Star!

It was simple: his and his two companions’ task was to kill this bunch of shifty-looking individuals in front of them.

Of course, the fact that Mad Medley’s direct shot had been blocked already told Wen Yu that these opponents were not weak; Cyclops alone might not be able to handle them.

Therefore, in an instant, Wen Yu and Cyclops had already begun their coordinated attack!
