Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 220: Chapter 19: The Cave (Big Chapter)_1

Looking at the arrangement, and then at Xiao Xue standing aside, Wen Yu nodded, a slight smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.

”Thank you very much.”

Perhaps sensing the forced smile on Wen Yu’s face, Xiao Xue casually wiped her hands on her newly changed casual clothes and nodded.

”It’s nothing. I should be the one to apologize for taking it upon myself to mess with your room.”

”Alright, let’s have dinner first. Xiao Xue is a really good cook!”

Perhaps sensing the tension, Ye Nan’s wife suggested this and tugged at Wen Yu’s sleeve.

”Let’s eat first.”

...

Dinner passed quickly. Thanks to Wen Yu’s jokes and jests, Ye Nan’s children didn’t sense the tense atmosphere at the table.

After Ye Nan’s wife and children left, Wen Yu pointed to the sofa and signaled for Xiao Xue to sit.

”Do you remember our agreement?”

Xiao Xue hesitated for a moment, then took a seat on the sofa and nodded.

”I need to say this again. Do not disturb me! I hope you remember this. In fact, if it weren’t for the woman and child next door, I would have killed you!”

”Don’t play games with your life.”

Xiao Xue looked into Wen Yu’s serious eyes. After a moment, she suddenly burst out laughing.

”Understood, you said it so sternly...”

Before she could finish speaking, a half-meter-long short gun was already pointed at her forehead.

Looking at Wen Yu holding the gun, Xiao Xue slowly raised her hands.

Then, she began to prepare tea.

”You’re such a guarded person!”

At this moment, Xiao Xue’s usual cheerful demeanor vanished, her tone becoming serious.

”When we first met, I was indeed testing you. This was an order from the War God, asking me to observe your strength.”

”To be honest, there wasn’t much to observe. I haven’t seen all of your soul pets. As a fellow Soul Master, I believe your strength must be greater than Lord God of War’s. A single Simba, even if it evolves into a Level 4 mutant beast, probably wouldn’t be a problem for you.”

As Xiao Xue said this, she skillfully heated the pot and warmed the cups.

”However, this order wasn’t mandatory. I haven’t received any professional training in this area, and my attempt to test you this morning was crude and, I’m sure, annoying for you.”

”So, after you left, I tidied up your room. Firstly, since you plan to live here for a while, I thought your living space should feel more like a home. Secondly, it was also to apologize.”

”Maybe I’m too clumsy. I couldn’t even handle these small things properly and ended up making things worse.”

”If you’re really angry, I promise I won’t bother you again. This cup of tea serves as my apology!”

After finishing her words, Xiao Xue’s smile reappeared. She respectfully lifted the teacup and handed it to Wen Yu.

Wen Yu, gun still in hand, studied Xiao Xue carefully for a few moments before slowly nodding.

He accepted the teacup and drained it in one gulp.

”I accept your apology, but you should know there will never be a next time! Never!”

”Now, you can leave!”

”Mm.”

Xiao Xue finally recovered some of her normal demeanor, nodded primly, and slowly walked out of Wen Yu’s room.

After a moment, Wen Yu put Mad Medley away and once again surveyed the layout of his home.

”Not bad.”

Star’s voice slowly emerged.

”Yeah, not bad.”

...

「In the afternoon」

When Ye Nan returned, he visited Wen Yu’s room. Ye Nan felt somewhat apprehensive about the new tenant who had moved in—of course, it was mostly fear. Wen Yu reassured him, adding that he and the soldiers would be leaving in a few days. Only then did Ye Nan finally feel relieved. He then invited Wen Yu to join them for dinner.

Dinner was enjoyable.

The main reason was because Xiao Xue was also invited by Ye Nan’s wife.

As a powerful expert from the army, Xiao Xue had plenty of supplies in her space ring. The variety of dishes was more than enough for Wen Yu to eat his fill.

Moreover, the people Xiao Xue had brought with her had already located Simba.

After setting an agreed time to take action the next day, Wen Yu returned to his room and went to bed early.

...

「Early the next morning」

Wen Yu was awakened by a knock on the door. Upon opening the door, the first thing he saw was Xiao Xue in her military uniform. And, in Xiao Xue’s arms, was Cyclops.

Cyclops had indeed been very obedient. Wen Yu had told him to come back at night, and he had.

Unfortunately, Wen Yu had gone to bed early, so Cyclops had to spend the night lying in the hallway.

Of course, given Cyclops’ strength, it didn’t really matter where he slept—he wouldn’t catch a cold.

Perhaps noticing Wen Yu’s gaze shift to Cyclops, Xiao Xue spoke up.

”This isn’t my soul pet, you know. This morning, when I went out, I saw this little dog lying in the hallway. I felt sorry for him, so I gave him something to eat.”

Xiao Xue sighed softly and continued.

”I don’t know how such a small dog managed to survive. He must have gone through so many hardships. He’s truly pitiful!”

As soon as Xiao Xue finished speaking, Cyclops whined twice.

You’re the pitiful one! Your whole family is pitiful!

But the garlic-flavored dog food I had for breakfast this morning was delicious.

Of course, Xiao Xue had no idea what Cyclops was saying!

”See? This little dog is very intelligent. He must have been thanking me just now!”
