Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 209: Chapter 9 I am Sequence 2_1

When Wen Yu finished his personal grooming and stood before the mirror, he suddenly felt much more vigorous.

Wen Yu wasn’t handsome, but at least he wasn’t ugly!

Furthermore, his powerful strength had transformed his body, making it seem like a precisely crafted machine!

Combined with the cold, sharp aura honed by what could only be described as savage combat experience, his overall presence gained significant points!

His sharply defined muscles rippled with even the simplest movement.

That ”simple movement” was him scrubbing Cyclops on the floor—with his foot.

”WOOF.”

”Boss, I was wrong.”

”You realize your mistake now.”

”WOOF.”

”Understood.”

”What did Boss teach you?”

”WOOF WOOF.”

”Admit your mistakes; stand straight when being punished!”

Wen Yu nodded, then gave Cyclops a strange smile.

”Well then, accept your punishment.”

「...」

When Wen Yu, dressed in a black long coat, stepped out of the room, Star stumbled out from behind, convulsed with laughter.

Accompanied by Star’s ”HEH HEH HEH” laughter, Cyclops walked out looking pitiful.

He was dressed in a pink pet outfit, with a large red flower tied to his head.

Yes, with this getup, Cyclops at least qualifies as a cute pet.

Seeing the pleading look in Cyclops’s eyes, Wen Yu squatted down and patted Cyclops’s head.

”One whole day. You have to wear it for one whole day.”

Cyclops’s head drooped, and he instantly fell silent.

”Don’t worry, you look quite cute. This is an outfit Boss carefully picked for you. It will definitely awaken the tender hearts of young girls!”

Hearing Wen Yu’s reassurance, Cyclops’s eyes instantly lit up.

”WOOF WOOF.”

”Is it true, Boss?”

”Absolutely. Very handsome.”

”Haven’t you ever seen a pet dog in clothes? They look great! Besides, you just had a bath, so you should change into new clothes. Didn’t I, your Boss, just change into a new set?”

”WOOF WOOF.”

”It just feels a bit strange.”

When Wen Yu heard Cyclops’s words, he stood up straight, but the corners of his eyes couldn’t help twitching.

Clearly, Wen Yu was also struggling to suppress his laughter.

「...」

When Wen Yu found Wang Zhigang, Wang Zhigang was in his office organizing documents.

Don’t assume office work is obsolete in the apocalypse. At least in the current environment, humanity’s living space isn’t small. While they might not be the absolute Dominators of this planet, they are undoubtedly the most powerful race!

As the big boss of Central City, Wang Zhigang had a tremendous amount of work to process!

When he saw Wen Yu entering his office, Wang Zhigang nodded and then looked curiously at Cyclops, who was in Wen Yu’s arms.

”This is...”

”Oh, my battle pet.”

Wang Zhigang’s eyes couldn’t help but twitch a couple of times.

This is a Level 4 battle pet! What on earth are you doing, dressing it up like this?

A Level 4 battle pet! Anyone else would be cherishing it like an ancestor!

”Does he look nice?”

Hearing Wen Yu’s question, tinged with amusement, Wang Zhigang simply nodded.

Cyclops, upon hearing Wang Zhigang’s affirmative response, immediately became gleeful. ”What do you think? What do you think? What did Boss say?”

”WOOF WOOF! The Boss is truly mighty and impressive!”

He then wriggled out of Wen Yu’s arms and began hopping joyfully around on the ground.

Before Cyclops could gloat for more than a moment, Wen Yu grabbed him by the tail.

”Alright, alright, business first. Then you can do whatever you want.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Cyclops immediately quieted down.

Playtime was playtime, but when it came to serious business, there was absolutely no room for joking around.

”Now, I want to contact the military.”

At Wen Yu’s words, Wang Zhigang immediately stood up.

”Let’s go. I’ll take you to the communications room.”

「...」

In the early stages of the apocalypse, utilities such as electricity and communications had naturally been mostly destroyed by zombies or mutant beasts.

But once humanity reacted, everything was quickly restored to normal!

After all, thanks to the existence of the Exchange Stone Pillar, the speed of Human Evolution wasn’t inferior to that of mutant beasts. The reason their high-end combatants were fewer than those of the mutant beasts was not only due to the divine beast species but also because the mutant beasts vastly outnumbered Humans!

When the military passed through Mudanjiang City, its technical personnel had already restored communication capabilities between Mudanjiang City and the military headquarters!

”Ordinary wired communications are no longer usable. The military now uses satellite communication. According to their technicians, at the start of the apocalypse, the invasion of Demonic Qi caused changes in Earth’s magnetic field, rendering the original satellites unusable. The satellites currently used for communication are a ’modded version’ exclusive to the military’s technical personnel.”

Saying this, Wang Zhigang pushed open the door to the communications room.

Then, he muttered under his breath.

Who the hell knows what this Demonic Qi even is.

A thought flashed through Wen Yu’s mind.

It seems the military high command has suppressed information about Demonic Qi and Demon Fiends.

Then he glanced at the dazzling array of instruments inside the communications room.

The military’s hidden depths?

Clearly, the military hadn’t abandoned technological strength just because the evolution system had appeared.

After all, technology is the true foundation of humanity’s dominion over Earth!

「...」

”Commander!”

The uniformed personnel inside, seeing Wang Zhigang enter, immediately stood at attention and gave him a respectful military salute.

Noticing the slightly amused look in Wen Yu’s eyes, Wang Zhigang turned and explained.

”As the commander of Central City, I naturally hold a position in the military as well. Hmm, my current rank is Captain.”

”Captain Wang!”

Wen Yu jokingly gave Wang Zhigang a less-than-standard military salute.

”Oh, come on. You think I want this? Being constrained everywhere because of this rank... If it weren’t for my old comrades I can’t bring myself to leave, I’d have been out there roaming the world like you long ago.”

”Alright, no more joking. Connect the communications.”

Wang Zhigang said to the communications officer.

Instead, the communications officer looked hesitantly at Wang Zhigang and Wen Yu.

”Um, Captain Xiao isn’t here. I don’t have the authority to initiate communications...”

When Wen Yu killed the uniformed man, Wang Zhigang had suppressed the news.

”He’s dead. I’m authorizing the connection now; it’s in accordance with emergency regulations.”

”Yes, Commander!”

Hearing Wang Zhigang’s words, the communications officer offered no pointless objections and immediately turned to work the console.

That’s a true soldier—obeying orders, swift and decisive.

And from a certain perspective, it was also clear that the uniformed man hadn’t been well-liked.

With a series of CRACKLING sounds, the large screen mounted on the communications room wall quickly lit up.

Then, a woman in military uniform, appearing to be under 30 years old, appeared on the large screen.

Her neat uniform and a serious, unsmiling face made her otherwise quite attractive features seem several degrees less appealing.

Behind the uniformed woman, the bustling interior of the military’s massive communications center was clearly visible, teeming with numerous busy military communications personnel.

”Heilongjiang Province, Mudanjiang City settlement, greetings. I am from the 7th Squad, 13th Company, Military Communications Department, internal ID 115896, responsible for this call with the Mudanjiang City settlement. How may I assist you?”

Hearing the words of the uniformed woman on the screen, Wen Yu gently pushed aside the communications officer sitting before the screen and took the seat himself.

Cradling the pink-clad Cyclops, with Star perched on his head, he calmly observed the military headquarters’ communications officer on the screen, then spoke.

”I am Sequence Number 2!”
