Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 224: Chapter 22 Simba_1

The Cyclops in mid-air entered combat mode directly, his muscles frantically swelling. He transformed into a ten-meter-tall giant dog even before landing.

His mouth filled with the Flames of Tyranny, brewing madly before violently spewing forth towards the people before him!

At the same time, the continuous gunshots from Palpitation and Mad Medley rang out!

Mad Medley’s rate of fire wasn’t fast, only two shots a second.

However, Palpitation was different; its rapid fire resembled a miniature submachine gun. A mysterious blue light flashed from the muzzle, and bullets showered down like rain, engulfing the people before them!

Star’s body began to heat up. This was a sign he was about to enter a combat state!

Witnessing this, the leading black-robed man cursed.

”Damn it! Your companion is in my hands. Do you want her to die?”

This ”companion” referred to Xiao Xue, whom Guan Tao held, already unconscious.

Wen Yu heard this and scoffed coldly.

Companions are for fighting side by side, not for causing trouble for oneself!

Not to mention he’d barely met Xiao Xue a few times. Even if Xiao Xue truly were his companion, if she fell into enemy hands, she’d have to rely on her own luck!

The person capable of threatening Wen Yu hadn’t even been born yet!

Wen Yu’s murderous intent intensified, his bullets flew faster, Cyclops’s attacks grew more violent, and Star’s aura turned fiercer. The black-robed man watched as the sand and stone shield he had erected flew apart, his own stamina draining rapidly.

The black-robed man yelled, ”Scatter and run!”

As soon as he spoke, the five scattered. Simultaneously, the sand and stone shield blocking them disintegrated. The scattered stones, like bullets, thudded against Cyclops’s hide, slowing his advance!

Cyclops targeted the leading black-robed man and gave chase.

The black-robed man had simply been too arrogant, drawing Cyclops’s attention.

Judging by the black-robed man’s speed, he was also surprisingly Level 4!

However, there were huge disparities even within Level 4!

Without powerful weapons or items, Cyclops’s skill set allowed him to easily defeat most Level 4 professionists.

Wen Yu glanced at Cyclops chasing the black-robed leader, then at the scattered black-robed figures. After a moment’s thought, he instructed Star to pursue one while he himself chased after Guan Tao.

...

Guan Tao was only Mid-Third Stage. Carrying Xiao Xue, it took Wen Yu less than five seconds to catch up.

Seeing Wen Yu’s gun already aimed at him, Guan Tao placed Xiao Xue at his feet and stood still, watching Wen Yu.

”Are you going to kill me?”

Wen Yu thought for a moment, then slowly shook his head.

Then...

BANG!

Mad Medley roared.

The bullet struck Guan Tao directly, sending his entire body flying!

Unfortunately, Guan Tao didn’t die.

Despite a nearly fivefold difference in their physical attributes and the amplified power of Mad Medley’s bullet, Guan Tao remained alive and even unscathed!

Protective Jade Pendant (A-Class item): Can withstand 100 Third-level or lower attacks, 10 Level 4 attacks, and 1 Level 5 attack.

The power of Mad Medley, augmented by negative effects like Annihilation and explosion, meant its damage output was definitely Level 5 or higher!

With just one hit, the Protective Jade Pendant hanging around Guan Tao’s neck shattered completely!

Guan Tao looked at Wen Yu, a grim expression on his face as he scrambled to his feet. He moved behind a large tree, saying indignantly, ”Didn’t you say you wouldn’t kill me?”

Wen Yu nodded. ”I suddenly changed my mind!”

Wen Yu ignored Guan Tao, who wanted to flee but dared not. He picked up Xiao Xue and carefully examined her. Her injuries weren’t severe; she had merely fainted. He retrieved a bottle of the remaining advanced healing potion from his space ring and administered it to her.

This person should be saved if possible. Saving her would put the military in his debt.

Even if this favor wasn’t much, and Wen Yu himself probably wouldn’t need it, gifting it to Sun Xuewei so she could receive better treatment seemed like a good choice.

After all, Wen Yu couldn’t possibly waste his time caring for Sun Xuewei, nor could he divert too much energy to her.

He barely had enough time for himself; how could he possibly spare any to worry about the life, death, or strength of others?

...

After a while, Xiao Xue groggily awoke. The first person she saw was Wen Yu.

”Thank you.”

Wen Yu nodded. ”You’re welcome. If you don’t blame me for implicating you all.”

Xiao Xue remained silent for a long moment.

”Now, you can leave. Go back to Central City first. I’ll find you once I’ve settled things here.”

”I, I...”

After a long hesitation, Xiao Xue finally spoke. ”I want to stay and avenge my comrades.”

”Do as you wish.”

Whatever Xiao Xue wanted to do was her own business. He had already done more than enough by saving her.

Perhaps noticing Wen Yu’s impatient expression, Xiao Xue fell silent for a moment before slowly backing away.

”Now, it’s your turn, Guan Tao!”

Looking at the figure hiding behind the tree, Wen Yu wordlessly unleashed a torrent of bullets from Palpitation and Mad Medley, engulfing Guan Tao!

...

Cyclops chased the black-robed leader, speeding directly into the distant, deep mountains!

Cyclops was fast, but the black-robed man was no slower!

The chase—one man and one dog, one fleeing and one pursuing—lasted nearly three minutes before the black-robed man in the lead abruptly stopped.

Sand and dust billowed from the ground, shooting towards Cyclops like bullets.

Cyclops didn’t dodge, simply smashing through the obstacles. He opened his massive jaws to bite the black-robed man, a red light simultaneously flaring on his claws.

Savage Strike (C-Class, Active Ability): Consumes a small amount of stamina to deliver a strike far exceeding normal power, also causing the enemy to Bleed.

This was an ability Cyclops automatically mastered upon reaching Level 4. Though not high-level, it was simple and brutal!

Cyclops himself had no single-target attack skills. Wen Yu considered this ability a godsend for him, but Cyclops wasn’t satisfied.

As Cyclops himself put it, ”I’m destined to be a creature on par with ten S+ alpha male hounds!”

The red-glowing claws slashed towards the black-robed man, the immense force tearing through the air and creating a Sound Explosion!

Cyclops’s claws were huge, almost the size of the black-robed man himself. The massive shadow of his claws descended from the sky like a dark cloud.

Yet, facing Cyclops’s furious assault, the black-robed man remained remarkably calm.

A silver light flashed in his eyes, and the black-robed man vanished without a trace.

Instantaneous Movement (S-Class, Active Ability): Shifts spatial position to appear elsewhere, consuming stamina based on the distance traveled.

Cyclops’s claws slammed into the empty ground, the impact echoing like an explosion.

Four deep gouges spread across the earth, kicking up a large cloud of dust that slowly settled.

Cyclops carefully sniffed the air for the black-robed man’s lingering scent. After a moment, he turned his head, looking behind him.

There, he detected not only the black-robed man’s scent but also another aura—strong, familiar.

Strong, familiar, and incredibly irritating to Cyclops!

Cyclops slowly tensed his body, coiling for an attack!
