Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 150: Chapter 106: The Road to Survival (15) (4th update!)_1

Both Demon Fiends were aware that the balance of victory was once again tilting towards the humans, but for some reason, they did not consider fleeing.

A pillar of fire engulfed the Stone Demon. The Nightmare Demon, originally perched on the Stone Demon’s shoulders, jumped down and was immediately locked in combat with the arriving Wen Yu.

The Touch of Greed swiftly tore the Nightmare Demon’s black cloak, revealing its dark grey skin.

With one swipe, Wen Yu smashed one of the Nightmare Demon’s arms and used his Dislimning ability to dodge an incoming Burst Flame Technique.

The Nightmare Demon’s strength was around 100, but its close-combat ability was abysmal. If things went as expected, Wen Yu would finish it off in a few more blows.

Behind them, the Stone Demon was powerless against Cyclops’s Flames of Tyranny and disintegrated into a cloud of dust that scattered across the ground.

”Your companions are dead. Now, it’s your turn!”

Wen Yu forcefully plunged his Touch of Greed into the Nightmare Demon’s body, strenuously expanding the wound with his hand.

Large gouts of grey fluid—the demon’s blood—sprayed from the Nightmare Demon’s body.

”COUGH. COUGH.”

The Nightmare Demon coughed twice. The green light in its eyes flickered—a sign of impending death.

”Are you so sure my companion is really dead?” a weak, yet sarcastic voice emanated from the Nightmare Demon.

”Have you forgotten your mission? And do you know what ours is?”

Wen Yu’s eyes narrowed. He withdrew the Touch of Greed from the Nightmare Demon’s body and immediately directed his gaze to where Princess Consort Feina was.

The Nightmare Demon had fallen, unquestionably dead. Meanwhile, the scene unfolding in the distance made Wen Yu’s eyes burn with fury!

When the Stone Demon and the Nightmare Demon separated, the Little Stone Demons rushing towards William suddenly transformed.

All the Little Stone Demons collapsed, and then the sand in front of William began to ripple.

In less than a second, before William could react, the massive figure of the Stone Demon appeared right before him.

Its twenty-meter-tall body stood before William and Feina, casting a gigantic shadow over them.

This body contained the entire strength of the Stone Demon.

Then, a fist the size of a car crashed down towards Princess Consort Feina with incredible force.

From the very beginning, the Stone Demon and the Nightmare Demon never intended to kill everyone.

That was unrealistic; after all, even the Ancient Demon Barr had perished at the hands of this group.

Although the Nightmare Demon scorned the Ancient Demon Barr, it was keenly aware of Barr’s power.

Their targets had always been Feina and the Fourth Prince.

From controlling Ba Song to self-destruct, to the targets of their initial attacks, everything was calculated to give the impression that they aimed to kill everyone. This undoubtedly created an illusion for everyone present: that the two Demon Fiends’ goal was to slaughter them all.

The moment the Stone Demon split, its core had already transferred from its original body into a Little Stone Demon rushing towards William.

This had been the Nightmare Demon’s ultimate motive from the start.

Their intent: to go down fighting, taking Princess Consort Feina and the Fourth Prince with them!

The enormous fist, vast enough to blot out the sky, landed where Princess Consort Feina stood in less than a second.

William had no time to activate his King’s Dignity before the colossal force struck the sword he raised to block the Stone Demon Fist.

The vast disparity in physical strength sent William flying, shattering countless bones in his body.

But the Stone Demon’s attack did not stop there. And now, no one was left to protect Princess Consort Feina.

”BOOM!”

Another punch! At this moment, it was a crisis of life and death.

If this punch landed, their mission would fail—a consequence no one present could bear.

A flash of resolve lit Princess Consort Feina’s eyes! Her hand suddenly emitted a burst of light as a giant fist of sand met her delicate, fair hand.

A ray of white light flashed. Princess Consort Feina and the Stone Demon disappeared without a trace.

Only the Fourth Prince remained, crying uncontrollably. Princess Consort Feina was also a professionist; what she had just activated was her ability.

Death Match Battlefield (A-Class, Active Ability): The caster and an enemy enter an unknown, small space together. After ten minutes, the skill’s effects will lift. However, only one of them can survive. If both are still alive after ten minutes, the space will be permanently closed! This ability can only be used against a single target.

Wen Yu staggered to where Princess Consort Feina had stood, staring blankly at the spot now occupied only by the Fourth Prince.

”Is it over? Is it all over?” a despairing voice arose. It came from Chu Ziling, who had hurried over from a short distance away.

Wen Yu’s mouth moved as if to say something, but no words came out.

Both Demon Fiends had vanished. They had won the battle, yet no one could smile.

Princess Consort Feina was gone! No one else present knew what her ability was, but judging by the situation, her chances looked grim.

A feeling of despair began to spread. ”It’s not over, not yet!” Wen Yu, clutching the Fourth Prince, roared.

”Just because Princess Consort Feina is gone doesn’t mean she’s dead!”

”We wait! We wait here!” Wen Yu said resolutely to everyone present.

But in everyone’s eyes, there was only despair. What Wen Yu said was only a possibility.

”And, we still have the Fourth Prince!” Jiang Wentao said. ”The key to the mission was to preserve the last ray of hope for the Flashing Bluestar! As I see it, the Fourth Prince is the most important, not Princess Consort Feina!”

His statement was far more rational and convincing than Wen Yu’s.

「Ten minutes went by in a flash.」

A ray of white light suddenly flashed on the empty ground, and then a huge figure appeared before them.

It was the Stone Demon.

”Kill it...” Wen Yu ordered Cyclops, then turned his head away, unable to bear looking at the bloody, mangled mess on the ground.

From the remnants of clothing, it was clear that it was Princess Consort Feina.

Cyclops immediately engaged the Stone Demon in battle, sending its massive body flying with a powerful blow.

Other than that, no one else intervened in the battle between these monsters.

William, who was nearby drinking a healing potion, stared at Feina’s mutilated remains. ”I’m sorry... I’m sorry...” he murmured, tears welling in his eyes.

Everyone knew it wasn’t William’s fault, but he couldn’t overcome the crushing guilt.

”HUFF... HUFF...”

Wen Yu took a couple of labored breaths. ”From now on, he’s your responsibility,” he said, handing the Fourth Prince to William. ”He is your life, and the lives of everyone here!”

With tears streaming down his face, William shakily embraced the Fourth Prince and gave Wen Yu a trembling nod. He then slowly walked over to the mangled remains.

Bending down, he carefully picked up a gleaming silver space ring from amongst the flesh and blood before falling to one knee.
