Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 148: Chapter 104: The Road to Survival (13) (2nd update!)_1

While Wen Yu’s injuries were healing, Sun Ruixing and William also had ointment applied and bandages wrapped on their wounds.

The dwindling supply of healing potions forced them to treat minor injuries with primitive methods.

The Cyclops, which had been standing guard outside, quickly ran to Wen Yu’s side. It stared fixedly at the trembling stones in front of it, continuously whimpering.

The Cyclops sensed danger!

Wen Yu stared intently at the pile of trembling stones before him and shouted to everyone, ”Let’s go! Leave this place!”

This place was strangely unpredictable, and for some unknown reason, the enemy had yet to appear. Since that was the case, there was no need for Wen Yu to wait here for a danger from an unknown source!

”Kekeke, run? Where can you run to?”

A wicked, sharp voice echoed from above the umbrella-shaped Stone Pillar where everyone was camped!

The moment the voice fell, everyone felt the ground beneath them tremble. Then, a deep gray light screen materialized, enveloping the area around the stone pile and trapping everyone inside!

’Twilight Zone’ (S-Class, Active Ability): Controls the power of darkness to create a gray light screen. This screen forms an isolated space, preventing entry or exit.

Seeing the flying sand and dust strike the light screen, erupting in a series of CRACKLES and POPS, everyone stopped in their tracks.

This thing clearly possessed offensive capabilities; no one was willing to step forward and test it.

”Oh, by the way, did you like the gift I gave you earlier?”

The unknown Demon Fiend had barely finished speaking when a commotion immediately erupted within the crowd!

A professionist from their rear drew his steel saber and mercilessly slashed at the teammate beside him.

The attack was so sudden that no one had time to react!

Blood sprayed out. The unexpected assault killed the targeted professionist instantly!

”Don’t kill him, restrain him!”

The person who cried out was, surprisingly, Princess Consort Feina.

Just as Chu Ziling’s flame-wreathed fist was about to strike the professionist, he heard Princess Consort Feina’s words. The flames on his fist vanished instantly. He changed his punch into a claw and, relying on his vastly superior physical conditioning, dislocated both of the professionist’s arms.

At that moment, Princess Consort Feina’s explanation came.

”This is ’Mind Control’ (A-Class, Active Ability), an innate skill of the Nightmare Demon Clan. It can only control beings one level lower than the user. Moreover, it can only control one unit with a weak will at a time. If the controlled individual is killed, the Nightmare Demon can use this ability again.”

Wen Yu silently nodded; this also explained why, back then, only Ba Song had launched a suicidal attack!

”Kekeke, it’s no wonder the Silver Moon Tribe has contended with our Demon Tribe for so many years. Alas, what a pity, what a pity...”

After he finished speaking, the figure of the Nightmare Demon slowly emerged from atop the umbrella-shaped Stone Pillar.

It was a somewhat frail, humanoid creature draped in a black robe. The hands visible beneath the robe were wrinkled, resembling dry tree bark.

Its exposed head was like a swirling black mist, from which only two green dots could be seen, flickering with a horrifying light.

Any Level 2 professionist who met the Nightmare Demon’s gaze would feel their very spirit tremble.

”Hey, you there, why are you always so slow?”

The Nightmare Demon opened his mouth again, but this time, he was not speaking to Wen Yu and the others, but...

To the pile of stones beneath him!

”It’s not... that I... don’t want to... be fast... it’s just... I can’t... speed up...”

A deep and heavy voice emerged from the stones beneath the Nightmare Demon. Before everyone’s shocked eyes, the umbrella-shaped Stone Pillar suddenly transformed!

The trembling stones from the surroundings flew rapidly towards the umbrella-shaped Stone Pillar, fusing firmly onto its surface.

As more and more stones gathered, the umbrella-shaped stone formation rapidly expanded. In no time, a gigantic figure appeared before them!

It was an enormous, earthy-yellow Stone Giant! Standing nearly twenty meters tall, it loomed over everyone on the ground.

And the Nightmare Demon stood upon the Stone Giant’s shoulder!

Seeing the mountain-like stone Demon Fiend before him, Wen Yu’s heart grew heavy! The pressure from these two Demon Fiends combined felt almost as overwhelming as that of the Ancient Demon!

The Nightmare Demon’s eerie cackle echoed once more.

”Kekeke. I heard that idiot Barr was killed by you? Well done! That fool, just because of his Ancient Demon status, dared to look down on me.”

”Tsk, tsk, tsk. To think he could complete this mission alone with just three to five Mobs. I must say, a brain is a good thing. Something without a brain is better off dead quickly!”

”You... are cursing... me... again... for not... having a brain...”

The Stone Demon beneath him rumbled, his deep voice betraying no emotional fluctuation.

”Idiot! I was talking about Barr, not you!”

”You see... you’re calling me... an idiot... again... I’m not... stupid... I’m just... a bit... slow... to react...”

”...”

The Nightmare Demon wisely chose to end the conversation.

”Allow me a simple introduction. I am Lesath, of the great Nightmare Demon Clan. I’ve come this time to claim all your lives.”

”Kekeke, so, will you choose to die? Or die? Or perhaps... die?!”

As the Nightmare Demon’s voice fell, a massive fireball charged directly at everyone!

’Flame Explosion Technique’ (B-Class, Active Ability): Launches a massive fireball that violently explodes upon hitting any target!

The moment Lesath unleashed his Flame Explosion Technique, the Stone Demon beneath him also launched his attack.

The Stone Demon’s method of attack was exceedingly simple: he strode forward and slammed down his fist!

A simple attack, yet combined with his enormous size and ferocious strength, everyone instantly understood they couldn’t possibly withstand it head-on!

This was the advantage of large creatures! Generally, the larger the physique, the greater the strength.

Empowered by the Stone Demon’s immense strength, a fist the size of a car slammed down where the group had just been standing.

A thick cloud of dust billowed up, and two deafening BOOMS echoed!

One from the Flame Explosion Technique, and one from the Stone Demon’s heavy blow!

The coordination between the Stone Demon and the Nightmare Demon was impeccable; their two attacks blanketed the group’s previous positions!

As dust filled the air, a figure carrying Princess Consort Feina charged out of the swirling cloud.

It was William.

Following William’s lead, other figures scattered in all directions.

None of the professionists who had made it this far were weaklings or fools. Faced with these two artillery-like Demon Fiends, scattering was the best option!

When the dust settled, all that remained were two enormous craters and three corpses!
