Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 122: Chapter 79: Pre-war Preparations_1

”Well, then it’s settled.”

Wen Yu observed William’s expression and immediately understood his choice.

Those who have not experienced the demon plague could never comprehend its terror!

Moreover, William might not understand an old Chinese saying.

Fear not a god-like opponent, but a pig-like teammate!

”What about you?”

He turned his head to look at Chu Ziling, who was standing alone to one side.

Chu Ziling’s face was full of arrogance.

”I can handle it myself; there’s no need for your concern.”

”Alright, you’re all such big shots!”

Wen Yu was truly exasperated with these guys. One’s a bleeding heart, the other is unreasonably arrogant, and to top it all off, they’re both quite strong.

”Then, how about you, Old Sun?” Wen Yu asked Sun Ruixing, who looked hesitant.

”I... I plan to be with William. Apologies, Brother Wen Yu, I think William’s ideas and methods are more suitable for me!” Sun Ruixing quickly made up his mind.

Wen Yu nodded; he felt no sense of betrayal.

It was merely a choice, hardly a betrayal.

Besides, Sun Ruixing couldn’t even be considered his subordinate!

”If you guys can’t hold on later, come find me. But don’t bring others! Remember, we won’t accept anyone else! Trust me, they are doomed!” Wen Yu said indifferently.

”Although I don’t entirely agree with what you’ve said, I still thank you for your kind intentions!” William gave Wen Yu a standard Knight’s salute, then went to the rear to organize a team.

Given William’s strength, many people were eager to ride his coattails!

Soon, William had gathered a large, disorganized group and began his speech about love and justice!

Wen Yu could only stand a few sentences before tuning out. He turned his head to look at the people behind him: Jiang Wentao and his two men, Sun Aotian, and himself.

The quality is acceptable, but the numbers are pathetic.

Especially Sun Aotian, who was clearly just there to make up the numbers. If Wen Yu didn’t have some connection with this naive young man, he would have kicked him out of the team long ago.

”Then, let’s just have a simple combat briefing.”

Wen Yu looked awkwardly at the few people before him. So, I’m the captain this time?

Seeing the four people before him staring at him so intently—Jiang Wentao and his men even standing at attention in perfect military posture—made Wen Yu’s face flush.

”Okay, I’ll briefly explain what I know about the situation, and then Jiang Wentao can devise the battle plan!”

”Yes.” Jiang Wentao nodded seriously.

”The truly terrifying aspect of the demon plague is their sheer numbers. I estimate that once the battle begins, there won’t be an inch of clear ground left here.”

”Quality is also a critical factor. The strength of an average Demon Fiend is nearly equivalent to that of a professionist of the same level. Furthermore, the powerful races within the Demon Tribe are exceptionally formidable!”

Silence fell as Wen Yu finished speaking.

Jiang Wentao asked, his expression inquisitive, ”Is that all?”

”That’s all!” Wen Yu felt his face grow warm again.

Fortunately, given Jiang Wentao’s personality, he wouldn’t mock me.

”Alright then, I’ll outline a basic operational plan.” Jiang Wentao squatted down and began sketching on the ground with his finger. ”Our position—the five of us—should be near the Exchange Stone Pillar, with our backs to a wall. This will reduce our defensive perimeter. Yes, right here.” He pointed to a spot not far away.

”This spot is very close to William’s group, which has its pros and cons. The advantage is that they can help by drawing some of the Demon Fiends’ attention. The disadvantage is that their group is a much larger target, so many Demon Fiends will likely head in this direction.”

”This spot is fine,” Wen Yu interjected. ”As for the disadvantage you mentioned, it doesn’t exist. Trust me, once the fighting starts, you’ll find the density of Demon Fiends is the same everywhere in this space.”

Jiang Wentao’s finger paused for a moment at Wen Yu’s words, then he nodded. ”Then, our battle position will be here.”

”Next, I’ll assign positions. Wen Yu, your dog will take the front of the formation. Any problem with that?”

Wen Yu nodded directly.

”Then, you’ll be on the right; I’ll take the left. Monkey, you’ll be positioned behind me. This young brother...”

”My name is Sun... Aotian,” he finished.

”Okay, Brother Aotian, you’ll be positioned behind Wen Yu. Burly Bear will be in the center of our formation, providing fire support. Everyone maintain about three meters’ distance from each other to give Burly Bear a clear field of fire.”

”Brother Aotian, if you can’t hold your position, shout out. Monkey will provide you with sufficient fire support.”

”That’s the plan for now. We don’t know how long this battle will last. I have a few things here to distribute beforehand.”

As Jiang Wentao finished speaking, he took out a green medicinal potion.

”Energy Recovery Potion (Small): Rapidly restores stamina. You’ll feel fully energized, ready for three hundred more rounds!”

”This description is a bit awkward; the research department guys added that last part. If you’re struggling, use it. I have plenty of these medicinal potions and similar items.”

Wen Yu and Sun Aotian accepted the medicinal potions from Jiang Wentao. After a brief inspection, Wen Yu casually stored his in his space ring.

Although the Touch of Greed could heal injuries and restore stamina, who knew how much it could actually recover in one go?

Besides, it was free stuff from someone else; it’d be a waste not to take it!

”That’s settled for now. Let’s go claim our spot.” With that, Jiang Wentao stood up and headed towards William’s group.

...

By this time, William’s group had finished their pre-battle pep talk, and William was assigning defensive sectors to everyone.

Watching William organize everything so competently, even Wen Yu had to admit the man’s caliber was exceptionally high. He was a true social elite, a pillar of society.

Seeing Wen Yu’s group take up their predetermined positions, William nodded at Wen Yu and assigned that section of the defensive line to them.

Wen Yu immediately activated his 2nd Soul Realm and summoned Cyclops.

”A battle could start at any moment. Be ready.”

After giving Cyclops a brief command, Wen Yu turned and walked towards the Exchange Stone Pillar.

He recalled receiving 20,000 points when he opened Roger’s treasure. These points were more than enough for his advancement.

Facing the demon plague, Wen Yu knew he couldn’t rely on luck. Every additional bit of strength would be an advantage.

”’Query points.’”

”Remaining points: 20,056.”

”’Select Advancement Trial.’”

”DING. Scanning... Current host physical fitness: 50 points, Peak Level 2.”

”DING. Host’s profession detected as Soul Master. Scanning Soul Beast’s physical fitness...”

”Scan complete. Soul Beast’s current physical fitness: 50 points, Peak Level 2. Advancement requirements met.”

”DING. Deducting 5,000 points. Advancement Trial commencing.”
