Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 114: Chapter 71: Falling Out!_1

Cyclops’s body shivered, then the sound of cracking bones resonated.

It was as if a chicken had been run over by a heavy truck. The sound of exploding bones was incessant, sending chills down everyone’s spine!

Cyclops opened its mouth wide, letting out a loud wail, the pain in its voice clear for all to hear.

As the sound of its exploding bones became more frequent, Cyclops’s body grew larger and larger—from 2.5 meters, to 3 meters, until it reached 4 meters tall. Only then did its growth cease.

But this was just the beginning.

”His soul pet is evolving!”

Accompanied by Monkey’s exclamation, a loud gunshot rang out!

It was a sniper shot from the burly man!

But before Cyclops’s body had completed its growth and begun its advancement, Wen Yu had already recalled it to the Soul Realm space. Thus, the burly man’s sniper shot missed its target!

”Oh? You know Cyclops is my soul pet? Have you heard this term before? Or have you seen anyone else with my profession?” Wen Yu asked, a smile playing on his lips as he earnestly scrutinized the three members of Sequence Number 29, his body subtly swaying. This was a good habit when facing a sniper.

”Never mind that, but have you forgotten our little agreement from just now?” Wen Yu’s teasing voice echoed in their ears.

A moment ago, Wen Yu had been gently tapping the ground, actually sending a Morse code message to the three from Sequence Number 29. Being military personnel, and not ordinary ones at that, the three of them undoubtedly understood it. As for how Wen Yu knew Morse code? It was a useful tool for deceitful communication in the post-apocalyptic world; Wen Yu, having been cannon fodder in his previous life, naturally knew it well.

As it turned out, Wen Yu’s deduction was correct: the three from Sequence Number 29 understood and had clearly accepted his proposal. The alliance was simple: Wen Yu would hold off William, while the three of them would drive away Chu Ziling. Afterward, they would team up to deal with William.

Originally, they were supposed to act before the Magic Box opened again, but now, that was no longer necessary.

”We have no choice but to act now,” Sequence Number 29 said, his brows furrowed as he looked seriously at Wen Yu. ”There has been a... slight change in the situation.”

Wen Yu’s smile widened. ”So, this means the alliance is off?”

Sequence Number 29 solemnly nodded, directly taking out a fearsome pair of Knuckle Dusters from his space ring.

At the same time, the burly man’s sniper rifle fired once more.

Wen Yu simply sidestepped. An openly aimed rifle was easy to dodge; a hidden sniper was the real threat. This one clearly wasn’t.

He took a deep look at everyone present, then vanished into the woods, escaping their lines of sight.

”What’s happening?” William asked, staring at the three from Sequence Number 29, his brow furrowed.

William had seen Cyclops’s advancement, but his absolute confidence in his own strength meant he didn’t consider Cyclops and Wen Yu a major threat. Instead, Sequence Number 29’s group attacking first annoyed William somewhat. This meant the breakdown of their cooperative agreement.

Chu Ziling also frowned, looking at the three from Sequence Number 29.

”This could be troublesome,” Sequence Number 29 explained softly to his companions. ”I hope this is just my misperception.”

A unique skill had allowed him to sense an intense, life-threatening danger from Cyclops moments ago.

”It’s not... a misperception!” a slightly mocking voice echoed from the woods just as Sequence Number 29 finished speaking.

”Besides, you made a mistake just now. The situation has... changed drastically. So much so that there’s no need for an alliance anymore!”

Then, the figure of Wen Yu, who had just left moments ago, reappeared in everyone’s view.

Behind him stood a formidable dog, over four meters tall, its dark gray fur bristling like steel needles.

In that short time, Cyclops’s advancement had completed.

This meant the time to turn on each other had finally arrived!

As Cyclops drew closer, the danger signals in Sequence Number 29’s mind intensified.

This was the effect of his skill.

Sequence Number 29: Military Super Warrior Program NO.3.

Name: Jiang Wentao. Level 2 Professionist.

Profession: Fighter.

Skill One: Bestial Instincts (A-Class, Passive ability): With superhuman combat instincts, your ability to anticipate danger reaches its limit.

Skill Two: Unarmed Combat (B-Class, Passive ability): When fighting unarmed or with gloves, knuckle dusters, or similar weapons, it gives the host extra damage capabilities.

These two abilities seemed simple, but combined with Jiang Wentao’s status as the champion of the national military combat competition, they were terrifying. In fact, when it came to killing with his bare hands, Jiang Wentao was even superior to so-called martial arts masters. Such a person represented the peak of human close-combat capability in peacetime.

It was this Bestial Instincts skill that had just sent Jiang Wentao the death warning. Every step Cyclops took made Jiang Wentao feel the Grim Reaper drawing nearer.

”Burly Bear, fire a shot at that big dog.”

Burly Bear, the muscular man, immediately fired at Wen Yu.

Wen Yu tilted his head slightly. The bullet grazed past his hair and slammed solidly into Cyclops.

Given the modified sniper rifle’s lethality, it was enough to injure Cyclops, whose physical constitution was rated at 78 points.

As if struck by a ten-thousand-jin hammer, Cyclops staggered, swaying for a few seconds before regaining its footing. The sniper shot left a horrendous wound on Cyclops’s abdomen.

”Does it hurt?” Wen Yu asked without turning his head.

”WHIMPER.”

”It feels... nothing,” was Cyclops’s reply.

The onlookers stared from a distance, their mouths agape in disbelief at Cyclops’s wounded body.

The wound was gruesome and terrifying, yet the bullet seemed to have struck a stone statue rather than flesh and blood. A large chunk of flesh had been blasted from Cyclops’s waist, clearly exposing its internal organs. However, even its organs pulsed with an eerie grey light. The ruptured blood vessels within had also turned a pale, greyish-white. Blood continuously flowed from the severed vessels, but strangely, it didn’t spill out. Instead, as if manipulated by some mysterious force, it formed thin streams in the air, reconnecting to the other ends of the breaks and ”squeezing” back in to rejoin the circulatory system.

This was the power of the Blood and Flesh Badge. Its potent S-Class ability effect meant Cyclops had no weak points; in fact, its Internal Organ Defense Ability was now as strong as its skin!
