Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 128: Chapter 85 Enemy Attack! Enemy Attack! _1

”Brother Wang, what’s this trial all about?”

The professionist who spoke took out a cigarette and handed it to Brother Wang.

Brother Wang studied the cigarette in his hands. Hmm, Hongta Mountain.

Before the apocalypse, Brother Wang would have scoffed at this brand of cigarettes, but now... things were different!

Carefully putting the cigarette in the lining of his protective suit, Brother Wang spoke.

”What else could it be? Have you ever played a game?”

”Of course I’ve played!”

”This trial is just like running a dungeon in a game. We’re supposed to defend the city now. Let me tell you something,” Brother Wang said mysteriously.

”See that man with the big dog?”

Brother Wang gestured in Wen Yu’s direction.

”Just follow him. Whatever he does, we do. He’s currently the strongest. Maybe we can even latch onto a powerful expert’s coattails!”

”Got it?”

Brother Wang, full of superiority, finished speaking. He then took out a half-smoked cigarette butt from his pocket, lit it, and took a satisfying drag!

”Hey, why aren’t you saying anything?”

It wasn’t until he’d taken several puffs that Brother Wang realized. Almost a minute had passed, yet the person beside him hadn’t reacted at all.

He glanced curiously at his teammate, only to see the man who had just been speaking to him staring blankly, mouth agape, unable to utter a word.

”Hey, what’s wrong?” Brother Wang asked, then examined the man more closely.

His teammate’s eyes were filled with terror and despair, his face paling at a visible rate!

His experiences in the apocalypse allowed Brother Wang to react immediately!

”Enemy attack! Enemy attack!” Brother Wang opened his mouth and roared loudly, then quickly retreated, trying to get away from his teammate.

But it was too late!

A pale yellow, long, rope-like thing shot out from his teammate’s body. Its front end then abruptly opened, revealing a sharp spike.

Before anyone could react, this spike pierced through Brother Wang’s skull!

”GUR... GUR...”

Facing everyone, Brother Wang lost the strength to move forward. He made gurgling sounds until the spike morphed again.

Like a blooming flower, the spike piercing Brother Wang’s skull slowly opened. The immense force instantly pulverized his head, splattering red and white matter everywhere!

As the spike fully opened, a faint red eye appeared at the end of the fleshy rope.

Its brutal, bloodthirsty gaze swept fiercely over everyone!

”Prepare for battle!”

William was the first to react. He swung his giant sword, and a massive Sword Light slashed directly at the fleshy rope, which nimbly dodged it!

In the blink of an eye, the fleshy rope disappeared from everyone’s sight!

”Here they come!” Wen Yu squinted, looking at the vast open space beyond the city!

Outside, the effects of the Illusion Technique were gradually fading. With his Third-level professionist strength, Wen Yu could clearly see a dense swarm of dark creatures rapidly rushing towards Silver Moon Holy City!

Their numbers were so vast they stretched beyond the horizon!

It was only then that sharp, piercing bells began to ring.

This was the alarm signaling an enemy attack on Silver Moon Holy City!

「...」

The moment the bells faded, a dense, grating sound of friction reached everyone’s ears!

It was the sound of wall-climbing Demon Fiends scaling the city walls.

As everyone drew their weapons and cautiously watched the top of the city wall, the flesh whip that had just vanished reappeared before their eyes!

Its icy eyes stared at everyone. As the flesh whip extended, a figure slowly climbed up!

This was a creature resembling a salamander, over a meter tall and more than six meters long. Its pale yellow body was hairless and looked slick from a distance. Its massive tail bore a row of terrifying barbs!

Its round head had no eyes; the flesh whip was its tongue and also its sensory organ!

”Go to hell!”

With William’s roar, the Sword Light slashed out once again.

But! It had no effect!

The immense force struck the Salamander Demonic Being, and a flash of light erupted from its body!

The power of the Sword Light was directly nullified by this Demon Fiend’s defense skills!

”HISS. HISS.”

The Demon Fiend made an unintelligible hissing sound, and its huge body lunged at William!

The first Demon Fiend to scale the city wall actually possessed Third-level strength!

”Should we help?” Jiang Wentao asked Wen Yu quickly.

”Burly Bear, open fire and help William. The rest of you, prepare for battle,” Wen Yu said seriously.

The moment Wen Yu finished speaking, at least thirty somewhat thinner flesh whips appeared at the top of the city wall!

These are Demon Fiends. Regardless of numbers or quality, they completely crush human professionists!

「...」

With the appearance of numerous Level 2 Salamander Demonic Beings, the battle erupted instantly!

For these members of the Demon Tribe, who knew only slaughter and destruction, no words were necessary!

The first to engage the Demon Fiends were William’s team.

With William, their team’s strongest fighter, tied down by the Third-level Demon Fiend, the other professionists were, at best, evenly matched against the more than thirty Level 2 Salamander Demonic Beings!

The brutal fight started immediately.

In just a few seconds, both sides had casualties!

The first to die was an Early Stage Level 2 professionist.

This person was directly whipped into pulp by a Salamander Demonic Being’s tail. Then, the roar of a sniper rifle echoed!

Before the Demon Fiend that killed the professionist could make another move, its head was blown apart by a bullet from Burly Bear’s sniper rifle.

Burly Bear reloaded with lightning speed; in less than a second, he fired another shot!

With the roar of the rifle, another Demon Fiend was taken down!

But this was merely a drop in the bucket.

As the dense hissing continued, Demon Fiend reinforcements appeared at the top of the city wall in the blink of an eye.

A mass of Soot Skin midgets, about 1.5 meters tall, opened their wide mouths, revealing jagged fangs, and charged forward maniacally.

Like a tidal wave, they crashed hard against the professionists’ defensive line!

The Level 2 professionists in front of Wen Yu and the others simply couldn’t withstand the overwhelming tide of Demon Fiends; the defensive line was instantly torn to shreds!

”Run fast!”

The more adverse the situation, the more thoroughly the baser aspects of human nature erupted.

When the first professionist began to retreat, the defensive line instantly collapsed!

Everyone scrambled with all their might toward Wen Yu. At this moment, Wen Yu, currently the strongest among them, was the savior in the eyes of these ’Deserters’!
