Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 117: Chapter 74 Flames of Tyranny and Touch of Greed_1

”Hey, hey, that doesn’t seem right, does it? Why should I have to give up so many things? This is unfair!” Chu Ziling, standing behind Wen Yu, shouted in dissatisfaction when he saw Wen Yu had only taken one medicinal potion from William.

”You’re weak, so keep your mouth shut!” Wen Yu immediately retorted, shutting Chu Ziling up.

Chu Ziling’s face turned livid. As things stood, he was indeed the weakest among them.

After taking the advanced healing potion from William and putting it into his space ring, Wen Yu walked over to Jiang Wentao and the other two. ”Give me one of those red potions. This isn’t Life-saving Money, merely a ticket to the Second Stage. That’s not too much to ask, is it?”

Without a word, Jiang Wentao directly took a red potion out of his space ring and handed it to Wen Yu. Jiang Wentao still had many medicinal potions; it was clear Wen Yu was merely curious about them.

When Wen Yu took the red potion, a notification sounded in his mind.

”advanced healing potion (improved): Based on the advanced healing potion, various trace elements and special mutant plant components have been added, greatly enhancing the potion’s healing effect and granting the ability of Limb Regeneration!”

This was a testament to the military’s resources. The military didn’t just possess a vast number of professionists and Hot weapons; what was more terrifying was its scientific research power! The Cathay military, being the most powerful force on Earth currently, it was no surprise, whatever card they chose to play.

”Alright, everyone. If you want to go appreciate the scenery of Cacodemons Island, you have plenty of time. If you want to watch me open my treasures here, suit yourselves. Now that I’ve received payment, I, Wen Yu, always deliver on my word. Sequence Number 29, you can take back your grenades now. Looking at them is quite unsettling. Since I promised to take you to the Second Stage, that definitely won’t change.”

”When it comes to promises, I, Wen Yu, have no precedent for breaking them.”

Calmly delivering a boastful declaration befitting a victor, Wen Yu then directly examined the wound on Cyclops’s head.

In contrast, the others didn’t move after hearing Wen Yu’s words. Jiang Wentao didn’t retrieve his plasma hand grenades either. This was a precaution, a form of self-protection.

The wound on Cyclops’s head was horrendous. A good portion of his skull was missing, and even part of his brain matter had been blasted away! However, thanks to the Blood and Flesh Badge’s ability, for a wound that would have been fatal to any ordinary creature, Cyclops only felt slight pain.

Wen Yu gently touched Cyclops’s brain matter; it didn’t feel soft like that of an ordinary creature. Instead, it felt like touching Cyclops’s skin.

The Blood and Flesh Badge... truly bizarre and terrifying!

Cyclops’s second ability—Enhanced Healing—was taking effect. As the wound healed, his physical attributes were constantly declining.

Actually, if the other five had seen through Cyclops’s abilities, they would definitely have stood a chance against me. William could keep Cyclops busy, then Chu Ziling and Jiang Wentao’s trio could combine forces to kill me. In that scenario, my only option would be to flee. Too bad none of them knew Cyclops’s skills!

Cyclops’s massive form was sprawled at Wen Yu’s feet. As Cyclops advanced, his body grew larger; even when prone, he was taller than Wen Yu!

Wen Yu continuously fiddled with Pandora’s Magic Box in his hand, the corner of his eye sweeping over the few people present and the other indistinct figures flickering in the woods.

Is destruction what lies beyond greed? For the moment, Wen Yu hadn’t been overwhelmed by the massive reward, and this phrase naturally came to mind. But who could resist such an enormous temptation?

...

「Over ten minutes passed in a flash.」

As the timer on Pandora’s Magic Box counted down to zero, Wen Yu directly opened the Magic Box.

The light dissipated. When Wen Yu picked up the scroll lying quietly in the box, he couldn’t help but stare!

A notification flashed through his mind.

”Flames of Tyranny (S-Class, Active Ability): Ignite the black Devil Flame, bringing fear and destruction to all in the world!”

It was an elemental type ability, similar to Chu Ziling’s Sovereign Flame, but judging by the skill level alone, its power was definitely a tier above Sovereign Flame.

Wen Yu’s hand holding the scroll trembled slightly.

An S-Class ability! This was a level he hadn’t even been qualified to encounter in his two lifetimes, a level that existed only in legends!

Trying his best to appear normal, Wen Yu feigned composure and put the skill scroll into his space ring.

This ability would go to Cyclops. Cyclops’s attack methods were somewhat mediocre; the Flames of Tyranny ability would render his attacks more bizarre and impossible to defend against!

”What treasure is that?” Chu Ziling, from a distance, was somewhat covetous of the brilliantly shining scroll and couldn’t help but ask.

Wen Yu glanced at everyone present. Seeing curiosity in everyone’s eyes, he said, ”It’s a profession-change scroll for a hidden profession.”

Upon hearing it was a profession-change scroll for a hidden profession, Chu Ziling and William instantly lost interest. Jiang Wentao’s eyes, however, lit up.

”If possible, I’d like to buy the scroll in your hand on behalf of the military. You name the price. Trust me, in such matters, the military will be quite generous!”

”Heh. No need. This scroll is very important to me!” Wen Yu chuckled and directly refused.

”Hmm.” Jiang Wentao said nothing more. He might have realized Wen Yu was just brushing him off, or perhaps, given the military’s strength, their need for a single hidden profession profession-change scroll wasn’t significant.

...

「Thirty minutes passed in a flash.」

It was time to open the treasure chest again.

Figures moved indistinctly in the distance; these were all people wanting to enter the Trial Second Stage to reap some benefits.

Wen Yu picked up Pandora’s Magic Box, its countdown at zero, took a deep breath, and opened the Magic Box for the eleventh time!

Appearing inside the box was a pair of black half-finger gloves. The gloves seemed to be made of leather—very soft and extremely comfortable to the touch.

As Wen Yu gently picked up the gloves, a notification sounded in his mind.

”Weapon: Touch of Greed. Claw Weapons.”

”Level: Special weapon, unrated.”

”The Touch of Greed normally appears as a pair of black half-finger gloves. In combat, they can be manipulated by the host’s will, transforming the gloves into black claws with blades ranging from 10cm to 100cm in length.”

”Special Ability One: Fit: The special material allows the Touch of Greed to achieve a high degree of compatibility with the host, as if an extension of their own body. It can be imbued with various abilities inherent to the host.”

”Special Ability Two: Growth: As the host’s level increases, the strength of the Touch of Greed and the sharpness of its claw blades will also increase.”

”Special Ability Three: Greed: The power of Greed imbues the claw blades. Each time they inflict damage on an enemy, they will absorb the enemy’s blood and vitality, restoring the host’s injuries and stamina!”
