Chapter 249: Chapter 128: This Time It’s a Swindler (Part 1)_2

Consumable Type it is, then, consumed as she had already successfully exploited a loophole in the system, which left her feeling particularly exhilarated.

Student Xiao D: ...

After a prolonged silence, it finally spoke again, ”Tiantian, do you want to continue with tasks or return to the real world?”

He Tiantian thought for a moment, ”Let’s continue with tasks!”

She had just duped the system, and knowing its character, she guessed it would strike back.

He Tiantian wanted to see what other moves the system had.

”New novel world opening!”

Student Xiao D said in a monotonous voice.

He Tiantian felt the space in front of her twist and invert, and when she opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in a bed.

”... Immortal Nun Su, please take a look at my Xiao Bao, why does he keep crying, did he lose his soul?”

A somewhat aged voice came from the other room.

He Tiantian hadn’t looked at the script yet, but hearing words like ”Immortal Nun Su” and ”lost soul,” she had a rather unpleasant guess.

”Let me see!”

This was a somewhat husky woman’s voice, which, due to its timbre, made it difficult to discern her age from the sound alone.

Yet, He Tiantian found this voice very familiar; it must belong to a relative of the body she now inhabited.

What followed was a strange chanting sound, which seemed like a spell being recited, almost like a religious text.

”... That’s right, this child has indeed lost a soul and a pair of spirits. Did he go to the southern side of Chaotic Tomb Mound these past two days?”

The husky voice spoke with certainty.

”Oh dear, Immortal Nun Su, how did you know? My, my Xiao Bao is naughty, and just yesterday evening, he followed the neighbor’s kid, Xiao Shan, to Nanshan to pick fruit. They took a shortcut and passed directly through Chaotic Tomb Mound!”

The older woman slapped her thigh loudly, asking excitedly.

After saying this, she seemed to realize something and hurriedly added, ”Look at what I’m asking, you are Immortal Nun Su, after all, adept at fortune-telling; just one glance and you know the past. And my damn husband still didn’t believe it; I said we should come to you for help in calling back his soul, and he strongly opposed!”

”I not only know that your Xiao Bao went to Chaotic Tomb Mound in Nanshan, but I also know that this child likes to cause trouble and actually urinated on an unnamed and desolate grave!”

The husky voice was emphatic, and her image as an all-knowing expert was instantly established.

”... You even calculated that? Oh my, Immortal Nun Su, you are truly amazing!”

The old lady was overjoyed and became even more convinced of the village’s renowned witch.

She then pleaded urgently, ”Immortal Nun Su, please save my Xiao Bao. He’s only four years old, and he’s the only successor of our old Chen Family!”

He Tiantian listened intently, barely catching the rustling sound of money.

Indeed, the old lady hesitantly said, ”I, I was in a hurry when I left home today and didn’t bring much money with me. Here, take these 50 yuan for now. Don’t worry, Immortal Nun Su, once my Baobao stops crying, I, I will have my husband bring you the rest!”

He Tiantian raised an eyebrow; the old lady was quite interesting.

Professing faith in ”Immortal Nun Su,” yet she still held back.

What did she mean by ”When my Baobao stops crying, then I’ll bring you more”?

Wasn’t this the case of not releasing the hawk until the rabbit was in sight?

The husky-voiced woman probably thought of this as well, but didn’t seem to care too much and started to recite those weird spells again.

After a long while, she put on an act of weariness, ”Alright, I’ve summoned his soul back. However, your child has offended the ancestors; he must go to their graves to burn paper and make offerings as an apology!”

”Otherwise, even if I bring his soul back today, that ancestor will take it away again!”

The old lady hesitated, ”But, but why is my Baobao still crying nonstop?”

”Don’t rush, a child’s soul is inherently unstable, and his soul and spirits were taken by a hundred-year-old ghost. Having just returned, they cannot fully merge!”

”I have here a pill for calming spirits; if dissolved in warm water and taken by him, he will stop crying and fall into a peaceful sleep within a quarter of an hour!”

The woman with the husky voice said leisurely, while the tone in which she mentioned the pills she had refined carried a heavy sentiment of reluctance.

Sensing the implication, the old lady, a sharp woman herself, immediately understood what the other meant and eagerly said, ”Immortal Nun Su, please quickly mediate for my Baobao. How much for the pill? We will buy it!”

”Given the circumstances, we’re from the same village, and I even held Xiao Bao when he completed his first month. Let’s do this; you give me one hundred yuan for the pill. If an outsider wanted to buy it, they couldn’t have it for less than two hundred and eighty yuan!”
