The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 241: Chapter 125: Mother Who Favors Sons Over Daughters (12)_3

The family could just about afford to build a big tile-roofed house, which might even cover Xiao Chuan’s education expenses.

”Pah! In your dreams!”

”Xiaoya is my daughter, and if you kick me out, she’ll have to come with me!”

”Besides, what gives you the right to drive me away? I may not have borne you a son, but I still found a way to get you one, didn’t I?”

”Zhao Baozhu, you heartless Chen Shimei, I went out to look for our daughter, and you’ve been messing around at home...”

He Tiantian was jumping up and down, angrily cursing, drenching Zhao Baozhu in a shower of abuse.

Zhao Baozhu’s face turned beet red with embarrassment, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into.

His real mother, seeing this, cursed inwardly, ”What a spineless wimp,” but out loud she shouted, ”You’re the one who ran off first, and even sold our Old Zhao’s Family’s granddaughter!”

”Such a shrew, a wicked woman, who else should I divorce but you?!”

”Fine, fine, take Xiaoya and go, Baozhu is going to register his marriage with Xiao Fang, now they are a proper couple!”

”He Xiaotian, I advise you to be smart about this, otherwise, I’ll sue you. Humph, Eldest Fan from the next village was shot for human trafficking, the police said, even a real mother can’t sell her daughter!”

The old lady was coaxing and threatening with harsh words in equal measure.

He Tiantian seemed genuinely frightened, her mouth protesting, ”I didn’t sell Daniu, she’s still in the Provincial City,” but her eyes were evasive, revealing a guilty conscience.

Zhao Baozhu and the crowd grew more certain that Zhao Daniu had been sold by He Tiantian.

They used this as an excuse to force her to leave quickly.

”I’ll go, but we have to make a written agreement!”

Backed into a corner, He Tiantian said through gritted teeth, ”From now on, I, He Xiaotian, will have nothing to do with Zhao Baozhu ever again!”

”And my three children, Zhao Daniu, Zhao Xiaoya, and Zhao Xiaobao, will also have nothing to do with Zhao Baozhu. You don’t need to take care of them, and when you get old, don’t come to them for help!”

Including Zhao Baozhu, no one took He Tiantian’s words seriously.

They thought she was just making threats, not wanting to be driven away, so she brought up these terms.

Zhao Baozhu: ”I, I have Dachuan and Xiao Chuan, two sons, who will take care of me in my old age!”

A glint flashed in the widow’s eyes, but when she looked up, her face was all submission, the very image of a devoted wife.

The boy Zhao Baozhu was holding, Dachuan, quickly chimed in sweetly, ”Right, Dad, I’ll take care of you when you’re old!”

Inside, Zhao Baozhu felt so comfortable. Although he felt a bit sad at losing Xiaoya, an obedient little helper, getting rid of He Xiaotian was far more important!

”We’ll make the written agreement, then. I have sons, so I don’t need to rely on a loss-making daughter!”

Zhao Baozhu spoke with such bravado, not caring in the least how deeply his words wounded his own daughter, Zhao Xiaoya.

Zhao Xiaoya: ...I disown you too!

You’d rather care for someone else’s son and not your own daughter, Zhao Baozhu, you, you don’t deserve to be a father.

Zhao Baozhu had no clue about Zhao Xiaoya’s inner anguish, and even if he did, he wouldn’t care.

Fearing He Xiaotian might change her mind, he rushed to find the village chief to draft a written agreement, to serve as a witness, then firmly pressed his thumbprint in vermilion ink on the black and white paper.

He Tiantian also pressed her thumbprint in feigned anger.

From then on, the marital relationship between Zhao Baozhu and ”He Xiaotian” that lasted over a decade was declared over.

The father-daughter bond between Zhao Xiaoya and Zhao Baozhu was also severed.

Such an agreement had no legal standing, but it had a profound psychological impact on Zhao Xiaoya.

The image of Zhao Baozhu resolutely imprinting his thumbprint was etched indelibly in her memory, unforgettable for a lifetime.

”Mom, Dad doesn’t want us anymore. We... we don’t want him either.”

”Mom, don’t worry, I will study hard, work hard to master skills, make money, and take good care of you and my brother!”

Zhao Xiaoya took He Tiantian’s hand, and the mother and daughter returned to Zhaojiawa with excitement, only to be tragically driven out again in half a day.

She turned her head to look at the dilapidated mountain village and her haggard mother, shrouded in mist, and Zhao Xiaoya made a solemn promise.

”Alright, I’ll just wait to enjoy the blessings from my daughter. And Xiao Bao, he’s also counting on his sisters to buy him a house, a car, and find him a wife!”

He Tiantian spoke with a seemingly twisted set of values, but without any sense of incongruity.

It’s as if she wasn’t pressuring her daughter into being a Helping-Brother Demon, but rather encouraging her to strive for a better life!

Even the female lead, Zhao Xiaoya, nodded in agreement wholeheartedly, ”Mom, don’t worry. We’ve got this...”

Mom’s life was far from easy, driven out of her marital home, yet she never abandoned her. She would be doubly filial.

And the brother, alas, a simpleton. If she and her sister didn’t look after him, could they really expect someone else to?

Buying a house, a car, finding a wife – she would study diligently, earn money, and everything would get better.

Student Xiao D: ...I’m bowing again, folks, do as you please.
