Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 840: Chapter 71: Retreat to the Stone Bridge

Looking at Liu Li’s corpse, Su Xiao couldn’t help but think, why is it that others encounter cute girls who are allies and offer all kinds of help, and sometimes even benefits, but when he encounters them, six out of ten want to kill him, and the remaining four feel he’s too strong and flee in advance.

Faced with this situation, Su Xiao couldn’t help but reflect, pondering whether it’s an issue with his own style of doing things. However, he has no intention of changing his ways.

An enemy is an enemy, regardless of beauty or ugliness, without regard for status or prestige; everyone is equal. Though, when facing an extremely ugly opponent, Su Xiao can’t help but slash them a few more times, like the Resentful Orphan·Hughes, a walking mass of bloody bones, extraordinarily hideous.

After dealing with the Liu Li team, Su Xiao planned to continue his ’old business’, which is assassinating Healing System or Support class contractors.

Just as he was approaching the nearby battlefield, he realized the situation was not favorable. Due to the large number of Healing Contractors from the Apocalypse Paradise side, they seemed poised to break through District 2. Before District 2 was breached, Su Xiao must rendezvous with his main forces.

Given that the gap in Healing Contractors is several times in favor of the Apocalypse Paradise side, it was already remarkable that the Reincarnation Paradise side managed to hold District 2 for so long. The main reason is that contractors from Reincarnation Paradise fight like lunatics + madmen, wholly without a concept of retreat or escape. Either they kill their enemies, or they forsake the assault.

Apocalypse Paradise used their numbers and abundance of Healing contractors to their advantage, and after fifteen massive assaults, there was finally hope of breaking through District 2.

...

Deep in District 2, behind a stone wall, a kobold head poked through a crack. It was Bubu Wang.

Su Xiao wanted to rendezvous with his side, of course, he couldn’t charge in like during the Empire and Tribal Army war; that would be suicide. If he attempted that, he’d face a siege by hundreds of Second Tier contractors, ensuring certain death.

Luckily, Bubu Wang could scout the path; if discovered, Bubu Wang would pretend to be a statue or simply infiltrate the enemy lines.

Under Bubu Wang’s cover, Su Xiao avoided many Apocalypse Paradise contractors.

Half an hour later, Su Xiao encountered dozens of contractors engaged in battle; this was already the edge of the combat area for both sides.

”Five seconds, follow me in a charge afterward.”

Su Xiao patted Bubu Wang’s head, beginning to count in his mind.

As five seconds elapsed, Su Xiao suddenly dashed out, racing towards several Apocalypse Paradise contractors whose backs were to him.

Once combat began, both sides had obvious markers. A red light floated above Reincarnation Paradise contractors, while a green light floated above Apocalypse Paradise contractors. This feature was evident; if using an invisibility-type skill, the light would also become invisible, but it couldn’t be turned off and only vanished upon a contractor’s death.

Su Xiao suddenly appeared behind a few Apocalypse Paradise contractors; contractors in battle were momentarily stunned. Upon seeing the color of the light above Su Xiao, an energy arrow was immediately shot in his direction.

After his encounter with Duke Lan, Su Xiao developed a repulsion towards arrow-type attacks and instinctively dodged, but the speed of this energy arrow was too fast, almost instantly hitting him.

...

After the energy arrow hit Su Xiao, over a dozen ranged contractors prepared to focus their fire on him. However, Su Xiao wasn’t controlled and instead rushed behind a close combat contractor, slashing with his knife.

Before being struck by Su Xiao, this miserable close combat contractor was already at only 32% Life Value; one slash later, he wasn’t killed by the blade’s edge but died from the terrifying True Damage of Blue Steel Shadow + Demon’s Mark.

With a breakthrough point ahead, Su Xiao charged into the ranks of his allies, Bubu Wang following closely behind, and everyone’s target was Su Xiao, with no one paying any mind to Bubu Wang.

Su Xiao rushed out of District 2, reaching the vicinity of the Stone Bridge, temporarily safe.

Several contractors were guarding the Stone Bridge, and upon seeing the dark red light above Su Xiao, they clicked their tongues in wonder.

”Brother, how many have you killed?”

”Forgot.”

Indeed, Su Xiao forgot; he only knew he had killed many Healing and Support class contractors, and then wiped out the Liu Li team.

Su Xiao headed towards the interior of the Dusk Palace to rest for a while.

...

There’s certainly someone who deeply hates Su Xiao now, and that is Xi. Not to mention that Su Xiao killed many Healing and Support class contractors, but killing her sister was a mortal feud.

However, Xi now has no time to hate Su Xiao; the Demon Spear Knight holding a Flaming Long Spear before her is difficult to deal with, and his abilities somewhat restrain her.

The melting point of crystals is very high, yet this Demon Spear Knight’s Magic Gun exceeds that temperature.

Though Yan Chen restrained Xi, he’s not in good shape either; his chest has several areas already crystallized, and most of his left arm is crystallized, shattering at the slightest touch.

Due to ability restraint, Yan Chen had been suppressing Xi, but half an hour into the battle, upon using his big move, he discovered that this woman could actually revive! Resurrect on the spot! At that time, Yan Chen’s feelings could only be described by ”What the...”

”She’s already died once, reviving appears with a cat’s shadow, and restores state to over 80%, difficult to handle.”

Yan Chen knew that prolonging the battle was not viable. Enchanting his Magic Gun with the Fire attribute continuously consumed Mana Value, and his Mana Value was running low.

”Withdraw, defend the Stone Bridge.”

Yan Chen ordered on the war channel and began leading the retreat.

Strangely, Xi didn’t pursue aggressively after them; instead, she smiled.

”Perhaps this meeting will be our last farewell.”

Xi’s words puzzled Yan Chen, but now was a good opportunity to retreat to the Stone Bridge, and he temporarily ignored the stinging pain from the crystallized areas.

Soon, contractors from Reincarnation Paradise retreated to guard the three Stone Bridges. Now, they only need to defend the three Stone Bridges and beware of contractors with flying ability, reducing the pressure substantially.

Meanwhile, contractors from Apocalypse Paradise were stationed inside the District 2 Maze, seemingly preparing to make it their headquarters.

After a round of chaotic battle, 658 Reincarnation Paradise contractors remained alive, 137 were dead, while 783 Apocalypse Paradise contractors remained, 202 dead.

This death toll was unfavorable to Apocalypse Paradise, even when they had a numeric advantage and several times more Healing Contractors than Reincarnation Paradise.

Xi held a list in her hand, a battle report obtained through Perception-type practitioners.

”Too many casualties.”

Xi sighed, not because she was heartbroken over the lost subordinates but concerned that too many casualties might cause contractors to give up the mission.

Xi scanned her surroundings; some contractors sat against the walls of the maze, some stared into space, some silently smoked a cigarette oblivious to lighting it the wrong way.

”Xi, given the current situation, we’re not without hope; in fact, we still have a significant chance of winning as the terrain here suits...that thing...”

A female gunman approached.

”I know.”

Xi nonchalantly replied, turning to walk deeper into the maze. Once alone, Xi leaned against a stone pillar.

Drip, drip...

Glittering drops fell; Xi’s sister had died, in war.

When Xi smiled, others would smile with her; when she weeped, she could only do so alone, this was the burden of leadership.

”Goodbye, Liu Li; maybe one day I’ll join you, but before that, I must win this war. You didn’t die in vain, absolutely not. To deal with madmen, one must use even more insane means.”

Xi turned away, her eyes shining brightly as if her previous tears while leaning against the stone pillar were just an illusion. Xi didn’t notice the faint black appearing within the crystal floating beside her.
