Chapter 837: Chapter 68: I’m Not a Mage Lord

Bang!

Holding a magic wand, Yan Chen was pushed back, the wand wrapped in a layer of ice crystals.

Staggering back a few steps, Yan Chen looked at the ice crystals on the wand, the fire element reattached to the wand, and the ice crystals shattered.

”Ice Assassin Ability, it seems Xi is quite familiar with my details.”

Yan Chen took off his mage robe, bared his upper body, which was tattooed with numerous magic circuits. Seeing these circuits, not far away, Winters furrowed his brow.

”In Xi’s view, am I a Mage Lord or a Fire Element Mage?”

While speaking, Yan Chen twisted the wand in his hand. With a ding sound, the improved golden quality wand extended significantly, and a thirty-centimeter-long blade appeared at the tip. The golden wand suddenly transformed into a fire magic gun over two meters long, with intense heat rising from it, distorting the surrounding air. This is one of Yan Chen’s abilities, supported by several passive skills for his melee combat.

Magic Wand Transformation Lv.26 (Passive): Can transform the wand into a magic gun and grant the same quality ability to the magic gun, magic gun quality (Gold).

Long Weapon Mastery Lv.30 (Passive): Increase the attack power of long weapons by 92%, significantly improving long weapon use techniques.

Weapon Attribute Enchantment Lv.10 (Exclusive Passive for this Profession): Can compress the system element at high concentration and apply it to the weapon. The system element is fire, and using enchantment will add 100 points of fire attribute damage to weapon attacks, along with a subsequent burning effect, which can stack.

Flame Demon Spear Knight Lv.32 (Exclusive Passive for this Profession): In mounted state, you will be immune to 10% of any damage and can arbitrarily convert four attributes: power, agility, intelligence, and stamina.

...

These are Yan Chen’s main abilities. As for spells like fireball and rocket, they are used to mislead the enemy.

Yan Chen is not a ranged mage nor a Mage Lord, all of these are appearances. He is a Flame Demon Spear Knight, an extremely rare profession. This profession, although not as scarce as Shadow of Annihilation Law, is still not numerous, with main attributes being stamina and intelligence.

Stamina ensures survival ability, while the primary role of intelligence is weapon enchantment, enhancing the power of enchanted attributes.

Upon entering the mounted state, Yan Chen will convert intelligence attribute to power attribute, making him completely melee combat.

The magic gun rotated in Yan Chen’s hand, and he looked at Winters with a sly smile.

”Come out, Piake.”

Yan Chen stomped his foot, and a magic array appeared next to him, from which a large feline creature covered in flames appeared. It’s a creature somewhat similar to a tiger, but larger, with flames rising all over its body.

Yan Chen mounted the Flame Tiger Piake, simultaneously converting intelligence attribute to power attribute, as surging power emerged within him, at this moment, Yan Chen has as much as 80 points of power attribute.

”Little ice assassin, I’m starting the second round.”

Yan Chen slapped the Flame Tiger beneath him, as this evil tiger unknown from which world lunged at Winters.

Bang! Bang!

Flames exploded, as if a bulldozer appeared in the maze, scattering a large amount of rubble, this was Yan Chen charging.

Five minutes later, with a thump, a broken body fell to the ground, it was Winters.

Winters’ lower body had disappeared, and his upper body was full of crisscross burn marks. No fresh blood flowed from the wounds, as they had been scorched by high temperatures, posing an injury even more severe than bleeding.

”Cough cough cough...”

Winters, lying on the ground, coughed out a few mouthfuls of blood, his own blood scorching his oral cavity, showing how much fire element was in his body.

Blind in both eyes, Winters lay on the ground, his body twitching unconsciously.

A Flame Tiger approached, its paws stamping on Winters.

”Roar!!”

The Flame Tiger’s roar echoed throughout the maze, as Yan Chen, seated on the Flame Tiger’s back, pierced down with his spear, stabbing through Winters’ throat.

”A petty thief of an assassin, perhaps adept at dealing with ranged mages, but I’m no mage.”

Yan Chen flipped his spear, cutting open Winters’ throat, who twitched a few times and then went still.

”I have kept this hidden for so long, now it’s time to give you a surprise, Xi.”

At this moment, Yan Chen no longer retained the frailness of a mage, now he felt explosive, full of power, almost unstoppable when mounted.

Yan Chen took out a communication device, spoke a few words then hung up, heading towards Xi’s direction.

...

At the back of the maze.

With a swish, a blade slit open a throat, as an auxiliary contractor suddenly became weak all over, with blood yet to fall, Su Xiao already vanished.

Standing behind a stone pillar, Su Xiao’s right hand held a blood-dripping slaughter dagger, while his left held a textual communication device.

”Discovered another lone healer, efficient.”

Su Xiao rushed out from behind the stone pillar, disappearing into the maze in a few flickers. With Bu Wang’s assistance, he had already killed more than a dozen healing and auxiliary contractors.

In the contractor chaos, if there’s the most troublesome ability, it’s definitely the healing ability.

Contractors don’t have much life value, in battles between two contractors, as long as the strengths aren’t overwhelming, the side with a healing contractor behind has an 80% chance of winning.

Moreover, the number of healing contractors from Apocalypse Paradise is several times more than those from Reincarnation Paradise, indeed, several times.

Given the survival environment in Reincarnation Paradise, apart from Adventure group members, no one will develop towards healing system abilities, as attack and survival are too weak, lacking others’ protection, healing contractors have little chance of survival in the Derivative World.

Even with teammates’ protection, whether temporarily found teammates are reliable remains unknown, hence, healers and main tanks are the rarest contractors in Reincarnation Paradise—wild main tanks may appear as they have survival as a foundation, as for wild healers, basically none, finding one in a hundred is impossible, finding one in ten thousand might be possible.

The situation in Apocalypse Paradise, however, is different, where contractors are treated relatively gently; deep animosities rarely occur between contractors, providing a survival environment for wild healers.

Apocalypse Paradise inherently has a higher number of healing contractors, coupled with a large organization now in the ancient ruins with nearly a thousand participants, having more healing contractors is quite normal.

That’s why Apocalypse Paradise’s side, relying on strong sustainability, pushed Reincarnation Paradise’s side to retreat to the maze’s rear margin, nearing the point of withdrawing to the stone bridge.

What Su Xiao is doing now is reducing the number of healing contractors from Apocalypse Paradise’s side. Never mind these healing contractors’ rudimentary combat awareness and alertness, their fragile frames make them completely stompable by Su Xiao.

Su Xiao’s plan is to kill as much as possible before the enemy discovers him to gain an advantage for his side. Once the enemy discovers him, he must quickly return to his own camp. His location may seem safe but is perilous because he is near enemy ranged contractors; once discovered, he will face concentrated fire from dozens or even hundreds of ranged contractors, and then it’s dangerous.

High risk, high reward, Su Xiao receives 3 to 4 points of merit for each healing contractor he slits. In no time, he had gained 51 points of merit. Those healing and auxiliary contractors’ alertness is outrageously poor, at first, Su Xiao even doubted if they were truly second tier contractors instead of first tier ones.
