Chapter 838: Chapter 69: Assassination Squad

In a short time, more than a dozen healing and support-type Contractors were killed or injured, which caught Xi’s attention, and she dispatched Liu Li, but for the moment, Liu Li couldn’t find the culprit.

At the rear of the Apocalypse Paradise camp, after Su Xiao slit the throat of a support class Contractor, he vaguely sensed someone approaching.

”Finally found him, this damn assassin.”

Liu Li looked at the corpse with a slit throat not far away, gritting her teeth in hatred. She was accompanied by three people: an Earth Contractor, a female Perception Contractor, and a strong man holding a gigantic hammer, at least three meters tall, giving a clumsy impression. Despite his bulkiness, his Power Attribute must be very strong, likely developing univariate with Power Attribute reaching 80 points.

Achieving 80 points in univariate is not too difficult, and this strong man holding the giant hammer is such a case.

Liu Li did not come alone; she most often stayed near her sister or acted as part of a team.

The Liu Li team consists of five people. Liu Li herself is control + close combat + ranged. The Earth Contractor leans towards protection, the Perception Contractor in charge of pinpointing the enemy location and connecting the spirits of the other four for better synergy in battle.

As for the strong man with a hammer as thick as a water tank, he only has one task: when Liu Li controls the enemy’s movement, he goes in for the kill, with skills focused on enhancing attack, aiming for a one-hit kill.

A little further from the four-person team, there’s a teammate - a sniper who has feelings for Liu Li, providing fire support from a distance.

Control + support + perception + main attacker + long-range sniper, the purpose of this team is clear, not to take on powerful plot characters, but to handle Contractors with strong capabilities. Therefore, the team is not configured with a bulky tank; instead, an Earth Contractor is used to provide defense as well as decent control power and attack ability.

The core member of the team is Liu Li, whose strong control ability Su Xiao has experienced once, forcing the enemy into illusions and misleading perceptions of the surroundings.

’Southeast, 26 meters, behind the stone pillar.’

The female Perceptor transmitted this intel to Liu Li and the others.

”OK, first give him a shot, force him out.”

Liu Li spoke through the spiritual link, being the commander of this team. This is not about hierarchy, but because she has the distraction to command during combat, and she possesses commanding talent.

”Alright.”

The male sniper from afar spoke within the spiritual link, a skill of the female Perceptor, allowing five people to speak with intention within the link, avoiding strategy leaks.

Swoosh~

A bullet streamed in.

Stone fragments splattered as a half-weathered stone pillar nearby was shot and broken in half, the upper half crumbled into white stone chunks, fragile like tofu.

A faint blue light flickered, and an energy shield wall appeared behind the stone pillar, where a man in a black windbreaker stood.

”Unexpected, encountering a ’familiar face’.”

Su Xiao looked at Liu Li not far away, and for some reason, he suddenly recalled a nursery rhyme. Although he doesn’t know the name of the rhyme, he listened to that awful song for several hours, and the performer was tone-deaf, pitch shifting unpredictably.

”Retreat!”

Liu Li instinctively wanted to escape, possibly suffering from ’Su Xiao-phobia’, vividly remembering the previous two encounters: once nearly killed, once used.

”Liu Li, calm down.”

The Earth Contractor spoke up, a middle-aged man with a stable character.

”Dealing with such powerful independent Contractors is what we’re good at.”

After hearing the Earth Contractor, Liu Li calmed down.

”The opponent is very strong, I mean extremely strong, so twisted that our chances are one-time only.”

”Understood.”

”Clear.”

Cooled down, Liu Li surveyed the surroundings, quickly coming up with a strategy against Su Xiao.

”C strategy.”

As Liu Li spoke, Su Xiao suddenly vanished from where he stood.

”Here he comes!”

Boom!

A dirt wall formed not far from the four of Liu Li as she and the Perception Contractor retreated, along with the strong man wielding the giant hammer. Despite his hefty size, his defensive power was weak, his abilities concentrated on attack.

Cling.

A flash of blade, the dirt wall shattered, giving Liu Li’s teammates a direct understanding of Su Xiao’s attack power. If he gets close, someone will die, and if casualties occur, the formation breaks, leading to near extinction.

”Mad Dreamer·Illusion Realm.”

Liu Li used the previous move to mislead Su Xiao’s Perception Force.

Su Xiao’s vision altered, with Liu Li and her teammates disappearing. It’s not the first time for Su Xiao, so he immediately activated the Counter Shield, forming a protective circle.

Perception, vision, hearing, and smell were all misled, with only a hint of touch remaining in the hands.

Kaka kaka...

A layer of granite clung to Su Xiao’s calves, rooting him firmly, unsure if real or illusion.

Su Xiao held Dragon Slash, with Boundary Line scattered on the nearby ground, awaiting the enemy’s approach.

However, under the illusion-induced misguidance, even if the enemy drew near, he could not detect it.

”230 meters away, almost there...”

Su Xiao muttered, unclear about his words,

With a crack, blood erupted from his left shoulder; a bullet ignored the Counter Shield, penetrating him. Judging from the might, it was likely a sniper bullet, possibly illusion or reality.

The reality was Su Xiao stood in place, 10 meters away was Liu Li, focused on confusing him. The Earth Contractor created high-strength granite fixing the Counter Shield to the ground, restricting Su Xiao’s movement, and simplifying his teammates’ attacks.

The female Perceptor’s finger touched the ground, striving to block the surrounding perception, as the distant male sniper kept firing, the bullets bouncing off the Counter Shield.

”What kind of ability is this, it’s blocked seventeen bullets; this can’t go on, Liu Li, how much longer can you deceive him?”

The Earth Contractor spoke, creating a four-meter Rock Giant, pounding the Counter Shield.

”No more than 3 minutes, after 2 minutes, the Illusion Realm starts to destabilize.”

Liu Li contemplated for a moment, glancing at the strong man with the giant hammer.

”Daon, you go, try to smash that guy’s Energy Shell with one hit.”

”Alright.”

Daon nodded, gripping the giant hammer, rushing towards Su Xiao, albeit slowly.

Though slow, Daon’s attack power is undeniably jaw-dropping. He reached Su Xiao, raised the long-handled giant hammer, and slammed it down with all his might.

Thud!

The hammer hit the Counter Shield, airwaves expanding, ground shaking within 10 meters, granite wrapping the Counter Shield shattered.

With a click, the Counter Shield displayed fine cracks, blood oozed from Su Xiao’s mouth, suffering rebound injuries.

After the strike, Daon staggered, falling heavily, the giant hammer clanged to the ground, creating a shallow pit.
