Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 814: Chapter 45: Scheming

”Bubu.”

Su Xiao spoke, and Bubu Wang, with its sharp white teeth, stopped just short of Beauty Cat Bessini’s neck. Bessini’s little paws twitched; she was actually already awake.

Su Xiao grabbed Bessini by the scruff of her neck and lifted her up from the ground, where she had been playing dead.

Bessini’s eyelids twitched. Although she had anticipated being captured, she never expected that the aura of that dumb dog’s owner would be so terrifying. Just being near him, she could detect a faint scent of blood.

”My terms?”

Su Xiao pondered for a moment.

”From now on, keep your mouth shut. If you dare to sing children’s songs again, I’ll kill this cat immediately.”

No sooner had Su Xiao spoken than the beauty cat in his hand struggled desperately.

”Wuwa~ save me, Liu Li! I am your best friend, I don’t want to die. That handsome dumb dog—no, handsome dog—please plead for me, I’ve been hanging in your mouth for so long, who knows how much drool of yours I’ve eaten. I was wrong, I shouldn’t have taken the chance to spit in your mouth, save me!!”

Beauty Cat Bessini spoke human language and began to cry aloud.

When Bubu Wang heard Bessini’s words, the whole dog felt unwell. It had been wondering why the cat tasted sweet in its mouth. Turns out it was saliva.

Bubu Wang started to retch, and Su Xiao, still holding Bessini, watched as Liu Li circled anxiously above without daring to speak.

Su Xiao was deep in thought; he felt this was an opportunity, a ’fishing’ opportunity.

”Liu Li, do you want to save this cat?”

”...”

Liu Li nodded quickly.

”Very well, first give me all the information on Xi, and I mean all of it.”

Liu Li, floating in mid-air, paused. She was beginning to sense that things were going wrong. She hesitated, contemplating whether to ’abandon’ Bessini temporarily.

Bubu Wang was still retching, its dog face embarrassed. If it could speak, it would have shouted: ”Master, just kill her.”

”Looks like this cat isn’t that important to you.”

Su Xiao squeezed Bessini, and her cries stopped; she even sniffled.

”Give me one hour.”

Although Liu Li knew Xi’s information, she needed to consult with Xi about it.

”You have only ten minutes. In ten minutes, she dies, or you bring Xi’s information. Your choice.”

Was Su Xiao really after Xi’s information? Of course not; this was merely a smoke bomb.

Xi’s data was confidential to the Apocalypse Paradise side, given that Xi was an enemy leader and surely not weak in combat strength.

However, what Su Xiao truly wanted was not Xi’s information, because it would be impossible to acquire genuine data from the other party through extortion. He was merely testing how important this cat was to the enemy.

Just from Liu Li’s personal emotion, it was insufficient to judge the importance of this cat. However, the fact that the Apocalypse Paradise had sent this cat to compete for the World Core indicated its abilities were quite special.

As for how Su Xiao knew this cat was responsible for competing for the World Core, it was something he could deduce with a little reasoning.

Liu Li floated away, her body disappearing into the Black Soil Fortress.

”You there... handsome man, don’t kill me. I’m very useful, I can wash clothes and cook. I’m begging you.”

For some reason, Beauty Cat Bessini’s survival instinct was extremely strong, almost a survival faith without dignity or principle.

At this moment, Bessini gave the impression that she was determined to live no matter what, by any means necessary.

”Your survival instinct is too strong.”

Su Xiao held Beauty Cat Bessini in front of him, meeting her eyes.

”With a survival instinct so strong it raises suspicion, yet you’re not actually afraid of death, it’s quite contradictory...”

Su Xiao’s words sounded contradictory, but in reality, they were not. It’s important to note that Bessini was part of the team competing for the World Core.

”Bubu, during the attempt to seize the World Core, was she the primary force?”

Upon hearing Su Xiao’s question, Bubu Wang nodded without hesitation.

”Primary force, interesting.”

The Boundary Line in Su Xiao’s hand snapped out and wrapped around Bessini’s neck before he tossed her to the ground.

This cat had a strong desire to live, but in such a situation, she was also the main force in the World Core competition, and being the main force generally meant danger.

What does this self-contradictory personality indicate? That this cat isn’t truly as ’afraid of death’ as she appears. But she does fear death, or rather, she fears the chain reaction triggered by death.

”If I’m not mistaken, you and your master should have some kind of soul-binding ability, where if you die, your master might also perish or face a severe consequence.”

Su Xiao watched Bessini’s reaction, and Bessini’s fur bristled under Su Xiao’s gaze.

”I’ll fight you. Uu meow.”

Previously shivering, Bessini abruptly leaped up, her sharp claws swiping at Su Xiao’s face.

However, Bessini couldn’t even defeat Bubu Wang, let alone Su Xiao...

A few seconds later, Bessini was lying on the ground convulsing, as if half-dead.

”Who is this cat’s master? Liu Li? Unlikely.”

Su Xiao picked up Bessini from the ground and headed toward the Black Soil Fortress. The captive that Bubu Wang had caught by chance might be useful; if utilized properly, she could provide some critical information. For the impending Contractor free-for-all, understanding the enemy leader’s intelligence was crucial.

Now that the war over the Black Soil Fortress had subsided, it indicated that the Contractor free-for-all wasn’t far off. The Contractor free-for-all was, in some ways, more dangerous than war itself, as Contractors’ abilities varied.

However, before that, Su Xiao needed to address three matters.

One: the enemy’s Hunter, Duke Lan. This fellow was too strong; if not dealt with promptly, he’d be a big problem. Su Xiao had a solution in mind for this.

Two: his side’s Legion Commander Carlos, whose blood contained a high-level ability similar to the Power of the Demon. If Su Xiao’s perception was correct, this ability was more advanced than the Power of the Demon.

Three: the ’transaction’ after Liu Li’s return. Su Xiao didn’t actually intend to use this cat to extract information or benefits from the enemy. Being from different Paradises, they couldn’t sign a temporary contract, meaning any information and benefits obtained from the enemy would be unreliable. The information was highly likely to be inaccurate, and as for benefits, hoping for them was unrealistic since the other side might tamper with the transaction items. Greed must be timed; right now was clearly not a good moment for greed.

Therefore, this cat from the enemy side was doomed. Regardless of how adorable the enemy looked, an enemy was an enemy. No matter how cute, once they take up a butcher’s knife, they can still claim lives. Showing mercy due to an enemy’s appearance is incredibly foolish, because no matter how beautiful, the enemy’s knife tearing into Su Xiao’s body hurt just as much, was equally lethal, and could certainly lead to his death.

Back in his room on the fourth floor of the fortress, Su Xiao shut the door tightly and waited silently.

Soon, a semi-transparent shadow passed through the wall and entered Su Xiao’s room—it was the anxious Liu Li.

”I can give you the information, but you must release her.”

Liu Li pointed at Bessini, who lay unconscious on the ground.

”Repeat what you just said.”

Su Xiao had a cigarette in his mouth, sitting in the corner of the room, the shadow enveloping most of his body. The tip of the cigarette flickered.

”The information can be given to you...”

Zip—

The Boundary Line retracted, slicing Bessini’s throat open, and blood splattered, leaving Liu Li stunned mid-air.

”As long as... Bessini is released...”

Liu Li mumbled to herself.

”Are all you Apocalypse Paradise people so naive? Releasing an enemy caught in your grasp? In Reincarnation Paradise, this is unheard of. I suspected before that Apocalypse Paradise treats you more gently.”

Su Xiao exhaled a plume of smoke and took out a white cloth to wipe off the blood from the Boundary Line.
