Chapter 821: Chapter 52: Carlos Is Still Easier to Bully

”It’s easy, isn’t it? Don’t worry, I avoided your vital organs like the heart. If everything goes well, you might gain even greater power.”

Su Xiao gripped his sword hilt, a mark on his upper arm glowing with a blood-red light. That was one of Su Xiao’s passive skills, the ”Devil’s Mark.” Originally, the ”Devil’s Mark” was on the back of his hand, but it was too conspicuous, so he moved it to his upper arm.

Devil’s Mark: Level 7 (Passive Skill)

Skill Effect 1: Adds 28 points of True Damage when performing close combat attacks.

Skill Effect 2: Can increase the level of Devil’s Mark by sacrificing equipment. You have made a pact with a High-level Demon.

...

Su Xiao rarely sacrifices equipment for the Devil’s Mark because this skill consumes a lot of resources. Even low-quality equipment isn’t enough to fill the gaps of this skill. After all, it’s a skill that increases True Damage. Without putting in a lot of resources, it won’t improve much.

However, Su Xiao’s core abilities consume too many resources, leaving him with no extra resources to cultivate the Devil’s Mark.

Just before, when Su Xiao sensed a trace of demon power in that vial of blood, the Devil’s Mark showed a subtle reaction. Because of this, he decided to get involved, ultimately helping Carlos with healing.

The demon power within Carlos was a special kind, with an extremely high purity—more refined than the demon power within most demons.

Su Xiao’s Devil’s Mark had once absorbed demon power, so he immediately thought of using the Devil’s Mark to absorb the demon power from Carlos.

After obtaining Carlos’s blood from Caesar, Su Xiao purified the demon power within it. As a result, the Devil’s Mark easily absorbed that wave of demon power. Although the level of the Devil’s Mark did not increase, he felt that the Devil’s Mark had strengthened.

Now what Su Xiao needed to do was absorb the demon power within Carlos. The other party didn’t want this demon power, but Su Xiao couldn’t ask for more. The benefits of True Damage are numerous, such as slashing through a high-defense Contractor in just a few strikes.

As for why Su Xiao used Carlos’s sword to pierce Carlos, it was because the demon power inside Carlos had already formed a symbiosis with him. If all this demon power were taken away, Carlos would die. If most of it were absorbed, the remaining demon power would lose its balance and begin to destroy Carlos’s body structure.

Demon power is not like water, where you can simply take some out if there’s too much. There are many troublesome issues involved.

Since Carlos was already in symbiosis with the demon power within him, Su Xiao couldn’t take all of it away, needing to leave at least about one-tenth.

Letting the remaining demon power stay in Carlos’s body was clearly not viable, so Su Xiao took note of Carlos’s saber. Although the craftsmanship of the weapon wasn’t very refined, it was heavily imbued with blood energy, boasting power no less than that of a Golden Quality Weapon. Based on these points, it could be deduced that Carlos had been using this saber for a long time.

Using a weapon frequently causes the user to develop some sort of connection with it, to some degree, similar to Su Xiao and Dragon Slash. Even if Dragon Slash were to be accidentally lost, he could still sense it provided the distance wasn’t too far.

Su Xiao speculated that Carlos must have a connection with this saber. Their auras have begun to resemble each other; this isn’t something that can be achieved in just a few years. Carlos might have been using this saber for over ten years.

Su Xiao’s idea was to leave part of the demon power within the sword, since the demon power had already entered a symbiosis with Carlos. Carlos, through his connection with the sword, would not be completely isolated from the demon power. This way, symbiosis could continue, and the demon power wouldn’t be able to further erode Carlos. This sword would become a point of transition and balance.

This was the best solution Su Xiao could think of. If it didn’t work, he would mount Bubu Wang within two seconds. Bubu Wang could rush out of the fortress within ten seconds at most. Whether they could break through the encirclement of hundreds of thousands of troops was unclear. Without risk, how can there be gain?

No one in the room noticed Bubu Wang, who was ready to act alongside Su Xiao and make a quick getaway.

Caesar stood beside Su Xiao, holding a test-tube rack in his hands. From time to time, Su Xiao drew a test tube from the rack and administered the potion to Carlos. After dozens of tubes, Carlos, the Legion Commander, lay there with his eyes rolling back.

This was just a cover; the hand Su Xiao gripped his sword with was what mattered.

Though the Devil’s Mark is a passive skill, it is Su Xiao’s ability and belongs to him. He can control the Devil’s Mark fully, just as he controls the Core of Devour.

The glow of the Devil’s Mark flickered on Su Xiao’s arm. After fully activating the Devil’s Mark, he sensed the demon power within Carlos more clearly.

A somewhat hazy consciousness was mixed within the demon power, without a clear goal, merely roaming unconsciously within Carlos.

There was no imagined Big Demon King parasitizing Carlos, nor was there some ancient consciousness awakening to resist the absorption of the Devil’s Mark.

On the contrary, upon sensing a similar aura within the Devil’s Mark, the demon power approached it proactively, even displaying disdain toward Carlos.

Realizing this, Su Xiao let out a sigh of relief; things were simpler than anticipated.

Under the attraction of the Devil’s Mark, the demon power first entered Carlos’s sword, slowly turning the entire blade black and red from the demon power’s erosion.

After passing through Carlos’s sword, the demon power traveled along Su Xiao’s hand to enter his body.

Inside Su Xiao, there was the energy killer known as Blue Steel Shadow Energy. Given the dominance of Blue Steel Shadow, the demon power had taken a beating the moment it entered Su Xiao’s body, otherwise known as Annihilation.

The Demon’s Mark only dared to cling to Su Xiao’s body surface — how much more so for this foreign demon power?

After being ’beaten up’ by the Blue Steel Shadow Energy, the consciousness within the demon power seemed a bit aggrieved and wanted to return to Carlos’s body. The outside world was too dangerous; Carlos was easier to bully.

However, would the Devil’s Mark let this demon power go so easily? Of course not.

The suction burst from the Devil’s Mark, and the demon power was caught off guard and absorbed some.

”Discovered special demon power, Devil’s Mark is in an active state, devouring demon power...”

The demon power soon realized that whether inside Su Xiao’s body or within the Devil’s Mark, both were very dangerous—Carlos’s body was the safer option. Poor Carlos.

Once the Devil’s Mark starts absorbing, it won’t stop unless Su Xiao controls it.

The pitch-black demon power was absorbed into the Devil’s Mark through the longsword. The size of the Devil’s Mark on Su Xiao’s arm expanded from the original size of a fingernail to that of a walnut, and with the continued absorption of demon power, the Devil’s Mark kept increasing in size.

The Devil’s Mark continued to grow stronger, triggering a series of notifications from Reincarnation Paradise.

”Devil’s Mark has been raised to Level 8.”

”Devil’s Mark has been raised to Level 9.”

”Devil’s Mark has been raised to Level 10.”

...

The demon power within Carlos was very pure, causing the level of the Devil’s Mark to soar like a rocket.
