Chapter 802: Chapter 33: Kindred Spirits

After dozens of pulses were released continuously, they stopped. The soldiers within dozens of meters around Su Xiao were all dead, and the smell of blood was overwhelming.

Whoosh~

A drone the size of a palm sped past overhead, and Su Xiao, holding the Dragon Slash, sliced through the air, sending out a pale blue blade aura.

The small drone was fast, but the blade aura was faster, cutting the drone into two pieces which then fell and embedded into the dirt.

”Brother, the ’T3K-Huge Dragonfly’ is quite expensive, and you just cut it down like this, what a pity. This kind of nerve reflex speed must have been enhanced at least three times.”

A bald strong man in a black leather jacket approached, with at least a hundred mechanical bees buzzing around him.

”Let me introduce myself, my name is Duke Lan, and in many ways, we are the same kind of people.”

Duke Lan looked at Su Xiao with a smile.

”The same kind of people?”

Su Xiao sensed Duke Lan’s aura, and indeed, it was different from any Contractor he had met before.

”Yes, the same kind of people. On my side, they call us Examinators.”

Duke Lan paused, as if waiting for something.

A moment later, Duke Lan tentatively asked, ”Did you hear what I just said?”

Su Xiao raised an eyebrow and finally nodded.

”Indeed, talking with someone of the same kind is smooth, no blocking.”

The smile on Duke Lan’s face grew more pronounced, and he even reached up to touch his bald head. If it weren’t for the hundreds of mechanical bees around him, one might think he was there to befriend Su Xiao.

”It’s a pity we’re not working for the same place. But then again, people like us are probably not welcome anywhere. We can’t team up with other Contractors, can’t work with others more than a few times, and have to clean up those pesky Abnormals whose abilities are bizarre. I once encountered a guy who fought using his own organs, utterly disgusting.”

Duke Lan chattered on like a chatterbox, but usually, he didn’t speak so much, especially in a hostile situation.

Duke Lan is an Exterminator from Apocalypse Paradise, equivalent to a Hunter from Reincarnation Paradise, responsible for cleaning up the Contractors who breach taboos.

”Such is fate. Whatever you gain, you also give. It’s quite fair.”

Su Xiao did not immediately make a move. He had never seen a Hunter from the same faction, let alone a Hunter from another Paradise. Whether Reincarnation Paradise has other Hunters is unknown, but it’s highly likely given their rarity. Usually, only one Hunter per derivative world is enough, so meeting another Hunter in a derivative world is very unlikely.

This time, Su Xiao unexpectedly encountered a Hunter from Apocalypse Paradise. He intended to gather useful information from the other party.

”Perhaps you’re right, such is fate. Although being an Exterminator is not a very favorable position, the danger levels are several times, even dozens of times that of an ordinary Contractor, but the speed of getting stronger is faster.”

Duke Lan tossed a mechanical beetle about the size of a sparrow, which emitted a red beam from its eyes.

”Oh? Developing four attributes simultaneously? Quite ambitious.”

It goes without saying that Duke Lan was probing for information about Su Xiao. Meanwhile, the Eye of the Apostle beside Su Xiao was also investigating the situation of the opponent.

[Comparing both parties’ intelligence attributes... Comparison complete. Our intelligence is 0.945 times that of the opponent, obtained 29% of the opponent’s information.]

The information is as follows:

Name: Duke Lan

Category: Human

Mana Value: 1610/1700

Power: 33

Agility: 72

Stamina: 67

Intelligence: 73

Level 30 Additional Ability: Detonate mechanical creatures.

Investigated Skill 2: Summoning Master (Passive Lv.30), increases summoned creatures’ power, agility, and stamina attributes by 20%, significantly increases summoning speed.

Level 10 Additional Ability: Multiple Summoning.

Level 20 Additional Ability: Super Multiple Summoning.

Level 30 Additional Ability: Summoned Fusion Skill.

...

Seeing this information, Su Xiao immediately understood that the enemy was not easy to deal with. The opponent developed the three attributes simultaneously: agility and stamina ensured survival and some close combat ability, while intelligence attributes increased the number of summons, their strength, duration, etc.

The opponent’s profession is very special, in simple terms, a mechanical summoner who can transform all insect-type creatures into summons and summon them during battle. Moreover, their summoning basic skills are at a master’s level; Su Xiao is well aware of how strong master’s level basic abilities are.

It’s expected as well. The opponent is a Hunter from Apocalypse Paradise. Given the danger level of Hunters and their growth speed, it’s impossible for them to be weak. Weak Hunters have long been eliminated.

In summary, Duke Lan is a remote summoner with strong survival skills, and he is equipped with high-tech items overall. Excluding summons, his long-range firepower should not be weak.

Both parties broadly understood each other’s abilities before the battle. Su Xiao couldn’t probe all of Duke Lan’s information, while how much the opponent probed remains unknown.

”Close combat, huh? I was wondering why my instincts kept urging me to stay away from you when I first saw you. This ability called Blue Steel Shadow is enviably strong. Looks like the profession you acquired isn’t bad either.”

Duke Lan moved his shoulders. He didn’t bother to summon mechanical creatures because there was simply no need. Unlike other summoners, he could summon mechanical creatures in an instant.

Su Xiao didn’t speak. He was considering how to approach the opponent. There were too many mechanical bees nearby, hundreds of them. If these mechanical bees exploded simultaneously, his Counter Shield might not withstand it.

Going head-on wouldn’t work; he had to use strategy. First, he needed to lure or detonate the mechanical bees near the opponent.

As Su Xiao was contemplating his battle strategy, Duke Lan spoke.

”If ordinary Contractors develop skills to deal with plot characters or besiege elite creatures, then our development direction is human versus human. In gaming terms, ordinary Contractors are PVE, and we are PVP. I very much look forward to fighting you.”

Duke Lan hadn’t spoken so much to an enemy in a long time. Usually, when he fought others, he would release summons and pierce through the enemy with his trump card. Today, meeting Su Xiao, a fellow Hunter, he couldn’t help but talk more.

”Enough idle talk. I don’t know about your situation, but I have a forced mission. Before this world ends, only one of us can survive.”

Duke Lan stated his purpose for being here, to decide life and death with Su Xiao.

Currently, Reincarnation Paradise is at war with Apocalypse Paradise. As a Hunter from Reincarnation Paradise, it’s normal for the enemy Paradise to target Su Xiao, given that he is helping Reincarnation Paradise to clear those rule-breaking Contractors.

In the midst of a noisy battlefield, Su Xiao and Duke Lan stood about twenty meters apart, surrounded by heaps of corpses, with soldiers fighting in the distance.

”Then... let’s begin, fellow enemy.”

Su Xiao took a deep breath. Duke Lan was strong, and the bad news was that Su Xiao, who just rested briefly, wasn’t in optimal condition. If his full combat strength was 10, it was about 8 now.

”Your condition doesn’t seem too good. Don’t call me mean; I’ve been waiting for two hours for this. It’s strategy.”

Duke Lan had spotted Su Xiao at the start of the war. He hadn’t acted immediately, waiting for Su Xiao to exhaust his stamina. After Su Xiao disappeared for a while and reappeared, Duke Lan chose to strike, fearing Su Xiao might hide among the Imperial Army and never come out.

The battle between Hunters was on the verge of breaking out; it was a duel between two Master Killers.
