Chapter 804: Chapter 35: Phantom Bee

”Whoosh~”

A clear whistle sound came through. Duke Lan is controlling the precise attack route of the metal arrow through the whistle. This metal arrow is not a mere object but a fusion-type summoned creature, combining characteristics of several rare insects, named the Phantom Bee.

The entirely pitch-black Phantom Bee shot towards Su Xiao with a swoosh, its tail sound sensing device leaving a blue-gray trail in the air.

At this moment, Su Xiao was protected by the Counter Shield at his side, but behind him, there were twenty-nine plasma balls in relentless pursuit, forcing him to keep moving.

A sharp sound of the Breaking Void came through. Su Xiao immediately perceives something is attacking him at high speed. He narrows his perception range to 5 meters, which is more conducive to capturing high-speed incoming attacks.

A metal arrow enters Su Xiao’s perception circle, stirring up layers of ripples within.

”So fast!”

Su Xiao shifts his focus from Duke Lan to the incoming metal arrow, sensing a strong threat from it.

To Su Xiao, the metal arrow feels sharp, rapid, and somewhat eerie. Through initial perception, he is clear about one thing — it’s best not to get injured by this thing, or the consequences would be serious.

Swish~

The Phantom Bee’s speed is extremely fast. As Su Xiao just perceives it, the Phantom Bee is already upon the Counter Shield.

Though the Counter Shield has shattered many times in the soldier group, this does not imply that its defensive power is low. On the contrary, the 500-point strong Counter Shield is quite solid; it’s just that in the middle of a large group of soldiers, attacks are too abundant and frequent.

The blue energy meridian on the Counter Shield flickers as the Phantom Bee’s arrow tip is about to strike the Counter Shield, the two being less than twenty centimeters apart.

”Command: Ghost.”

Duke Lan’s mana value drops significantly, simultaneously causing a transformation in the metal arrow Phantom Bee.

This pitch-black metal arrow turns blue and begins to transform into a semi-transparent state.

The Phantom Bee strikes the Counter Shield, but there’s no collision sound, no air wave dispersal, it effortlessly passes through the Counter Shield as if it doesn’t exist.

It’s not that the Counter Shield doesn’t exist, but that the Phantom Bee has transformed from solid to virtual; now it’s neither matter nor energy.

Noticing this transformation of the metal arrow, Su Xiao’s pupils contract. Since this metal arrow can transform into virtual, it can likewise transform back to solid.

Virtual transformation to bypass enemy defenses, then switching to solid to attack the enemy.

Realizing this, Su Xiao’s muscles tense all over, holding Dragon Slash sideways. Realizing dodging is too late, he must slice this thing away at the instant the metal arrow turns solid.

Everything around Su Xiao seems to slow down, this feeling puzzles him as he has felt it before when he dodged an axe aimed at the back of his head.

The Phantom Bee’s color changes from blue to black, aiming at Su Xiao’s head.

The Phantom Bee’s speed is extremely fast, so Su Xiao only has one chance.

A stabbing sensation appears faintly on the left temple aligned with the arrow tip, a warning issued by perception just before the head would be pierced.

Su Xiao’s long knife slashes down ahead of time, he has already predicted the trajectory of the metal arrow’s descent.

Ding!

The long knife slices through the metal arrow’s middle, a slash mark appearing on the dark arrow body, causing the entire arrow to slide sideways from the force of Su Xiao’s cleave, colliding with a ding inside the Counter Shield.

Several dozen meters away, Duke Lan snorts, blood vessels protruding on his face, making him look fierce.

”Command: Shuttle.”

Duke Lan endures bodily discomfort and whistles louder.

Once Duke Lan issues the command, the metal arrow Phantom Bee reacts quickly, stopping its rotation and piercing straight at Su Xiao.

Su Xiao senses it as soon as the metal arrow points at him, immediately tilting his head.

Whoosh~

The Phantom Bee draws a blood trail, its arrow tip stained with blood.

Warm blood flows down Su Xiao’s cheek, a scratch appearing. For women, this might be a huge issue; however, Su Xiao doesn’t care, as he doesn’t rely on his looks to survive.

Just as the Phantom Bee grazes Su Xiao’s cheek, reaching his head-back, it cleverly changes direction in mid-air, targeting Su Xiao’s brain from behind.

The Counter Shield beside Su Xiao scatters, transforming from a circle into dozens of hexagonal small shields. Twenty-some hexagonal Counter Shields meet the relentlessly chasing plasma balls, while three overlapping hexagonal Counter Shields block behind Su Xiao’s head as the Phantom Bee lunges at the Counter Shield. Duke Lan’s expression shifts upon seeing this.

”Command: Ghost.”

The Phantom Bee changes from black to blue, passing through the Counter Shield and Su Xiao’s head in a semi-transparent state.

As the Phantom Bee penetrates Su Xiao’s head, he becomes dazed, before recovering quickly.

Once Su Xiao recovers, the pitch-black metal arrow is already before his eyes, and with high nerve reflex speed, he leans his body back immediately.

When Su Xiao leans back, the Phantom Bee is already in front of him.

Lean back makes Su Xiao’s height lower, the originally forehead-targeted metal arrow brushes past his brow.

After dodging a fatal hit once more, Su Xiao doesn’t relax, as the metal arrow lunges again. Su Xiao raises his knife to block.

Ding!

The metal arrow bounces away, the immense force transmitted through it pushes Su Xiao back slightly.

After engaging for a while, Su Xiao discovers the characteristics of this metal arrow; its speed is extremely fast, and he can only dodge it by concentrating intensely, moreover, it almost ignores shield-type abilities, capable of switching between solid and virtual.

This metal arrow is incredibly troublesome, however, it isn’t without weaknesses. Su Xiao realizes its turning speed and curve flying speed are not in fact fast, only stabbing speed is swift, and Duke Lan has been avoiding the metal arrow striking the Counter Shield directly. The slash mark on the arrow’s middle indicates that this thing is not indestructible, merely possessing strong penetration power.

While Su Xiao dodges the metal arrow, collision noises emanate from not far behind him, from the impact between several dozen small Counter Shields and the plasma balls.

Lightning flares wildly, large arcs spread in the air.

The Counter Shields colliding with plasma balls gradually annihilate in mid-air, Su Xiao having previously detached the energy link with these several dozen Counter Shields.

The number of Counter Shields beside Su Xiao diminishes, no longer enough to form a circle enveloping him entirely. Creating new Counter Shields requires 500 mana points, and without killing a large number of soldiers, he needs to conserve mana.

Several dozen Counter Shields swirl beside Su Xiao, occasionally blocking the attack path of the metal arrow. The metal arrow never directly confronts the Counter Shields, only sometimes virtualizing to bypass and attack Su Xiao.

As Su Xiao dodges the metal arrow, a burning sensation appears on the wound on his face.
