Chapter 833: Chapter 64: Duke Lan’s Counterattack

As soon as Resentful Orphan Hughes appeared, Duke Lan, a hundred meters away, immediately detected its attributes. Seeing the ’Lord Level Creature’ title, along with strength, agility, and body attributes all above 70, Duke Lan’s expression was far from pleasant.

When Duke Lan saw that Resentful Orphan Hughes had a total of seven skills, he immediately understood that this thing was a major boss from some world, summoned here now.

What really gave Duke Lan a headache was the ’Soul Infection (Aura LV.20)’, which dealt 5% of maximum life value true damage every minute. This thing could cause a chain reaction; if he was eroded by this aura for some time, he might be instantly killed by Su Xiao with just a few attacks.

If Resentful Orphan Hughes were the only major boss, Duke Lan would be confident in dealing with it, but what about Resentful Orphan Hughes plus Su Xiao?

Duke Lan considered for only two seconds before turning around to flee, disregarding any duels or life-and-death splits. 1V1, he wasn’t sure he would win, let alone with such a ghostly thing summoned; this battle was pointless.

”Command: Suicide.”

A swarm of mechanical bees rushed towards Su Xiao. Su Xiao didn’t even look at the mechanical bees flying over, as Resentful Orphan Hughes had already stepped forward.

Duke Lan was not slow; his agility attribute was already quite high, and his escape skill made his fleeing speed even faster.

Su Xiao didn’t pursue, even though the battle hadn’t started yet, there was already an opportunity for a brutal takedown.

Su Xiao took out the Spider Queen, crouching halfway on the ground, pulling the bolt, the crosshair aimed at the fleeing Duke Lan.

Simultaneously locked on by Su Xiao, Duke Lan stopped in place, turning to look at Su Xiao.

Bam.

The muzzle of the Spider Queen expelled a burst of smoke, a bullet was fired from the smoke, heading straight for Duke Lan’s skull.

”Command: Guard.”

Hundreds of mechanical beetles appeared, forming a wall in front of Duke Lan.

Boom! Boom!

Two explosions followed, the first being the mechanical insect wall in front of Duke Lan, the second being Resentful Orphan Hughes surrounded by mechanical bees.

Seeing Su Xiao take out the Spider Queen, Duke Lan had already given up on fleeing, as he couldn’t escape.

Based on Duke Lan’s observations, it was a semi-automatic heavy sniper cannon, preliminarily judging its firing rate and power were not weak, and the bullet’s effective range was not short either.

After Su Xiao fired the first shot, Duke Lan roughly determined that to escape Su Xiao’s range, he would have to take at least 5 to 7 shots.

Not to mention whether he could withstand those shots, every moment of hesitation when defending, that skeleton creature could chase after him. If entangled by that skeleton creature, under the enemy’s long-range and short-range cooperation, he couldn’t hold out for long.

What was even more terrifying was not the enemy’s long-range and short-range cooperation, but both getting close to him. At that time, he would quickly face death.

Since escaping was impossible, Duke Lan decisively gave up fleeing. A mechanical beetle appeared in his hand, about the size of a fingertip, blood-red throughout, and Duke Lan’s gaze at this mechanical beetle was complex.

”I’m the strongest, I won’t die, I won’t die, I absolutely won’t die.”

While Duke Lan muttered to himself, that blood-red beetle burrowed into his palm, and he received a large number of Apocalypse Paradise prompts.

[Prompt: You are parasitized by the Mechanical Insect King. Within the willpower, stamina, and intelligence attribute determination... any determination not passing will trigger an instant death state.]

[Stamina determination passed, the Mechanical Insect King has successfully parasitized one-third.]

[Intelligence determination passed, the Mechanical Insect King has successfully parasitized two-thirds.]

[Willpower determination passed, the Mechanical Insect King has successfully parasitized into your body.]

[Prompt: Due to parasitization by the Mechanical Insect King, power permanently -15, stamina permanently -20, life value permanently -200, intelligence permanently +15.]

[Prompt: The Mechanical Insect King will die in 30 minutes.]

[Prompt: Your mana value temporarily +3000, once the Mechanical Insect King dies, this bonus disappears.]

[Prompt: Your summons quantity and type limit have been removed, once the Mechanical Insect King dies, this effect disappears.]

[Prompt: Once the Mechanical Insect King dies, you will face another challenge in stamina attribute determination. Failure will trigger an instant death state.]

...

A feeling of weakness struck, and Duke Lan used the ability he least wanted to use, allowing the Mechanical Insect King to parasitize himself, failing any of the three determinations during parasitism would bring instant death, and even if successful in parasitism, he’d lose many attributes.

Being parasitized had three benefits: intelligence permanently +15, mana value temporarily +3000, temporarily lifting the restriction on the number and types of summons present.

In other words, Duke Lan could summon all his stocked summons, as long as his mana value was sufficient. Duke Lan’s total number of mechanical insect summons was 12,604, summoning all these would require 4,653 mana points.

Summoning over ten thousand mechanical insect summons wasn’t Duke Lan’s most desired ability; what he wanted was the ability to lift the summon limit. Of course, Duke Lan didn’t really want to use this ability; using it nearly equaled mutual destruction with the enemy.

Though Duke Lan passed the initial three determinations, after the Mechanical Insect King dies, he would face another stamina attribute determination, one that would happen when he’s exhausted from battle with permanent -20 stamina, making passing the hope very slim.

This was Duke Lan’s first time using this ability, and there’s a 98% higher chance it’s the last time using it as well.

A bullet flew towards Duke Lan, his eyelids lowered, mechanical bees appeared out of thin air, this time not even with a summon gesture, directly summoned.

A hundred plus mechanical bees formed a circle, perfectly blocking the bullet’s path.

Boom.

The explosion rang out; although the mechanical bees couldn’t block the bullet, they used their powerful explosive force to deflect the bullet’s trajectory.

Whoosh~

A 17.36mm caliber bullet flew past Duke Lan’s ear, he even felt the heat from the bullet.

”Three versus one, but not anymore now.”

Duke Lan took a deep breath, pushed to the brink by Su Xiao, as ’reward,’ he planned to send Su Xiao to hell within half an hour.

Moreover, if he could kill Su Xiao, Duke Lan might not be without a chance to survive. Against other enemies, there’s over a 98% chance he’d die after combat, but Su Xiao is different, Su Xiao is a Hunter of Reincarnation Paradise.

If Duke Lan completed the Apocalypse Paradise’s task, successfully killing an enemy Paradise’s Hunter, would Apocalypse Paradise let him die so aggrieved? Probably not.

An overwhelming swarm of mechanical insects appeared: mechanical bees, mechanical dragonflies, mechanical beetles, mechanical fireflies, and dozens more.

Over ten thousand mechanical insects appeared, from afar they looked like a black cloud, within the black cloud flashed red lights, the eyes of one mechanical insect after another.

Seeing these over ten thousand mechanical insects, Su Xiao immediately sensed something was wrong. Hundreds of mechanical dragonflies could already break the counter shield, if over ten thousand explode simultaneously, and he’s near the explosion center, he’d be obliterated in an instant. Of course, the likelihood of being blown up by over ten thousand mechanical insects wasn’t high for Su Xiao. If things got bad, he could retreat to a distant point and let Hughes withstand the explosion.

”Ultimate Command-Integration.”

Duke Lan clasped his hands; over ten thousand mechanical insects gathered together, about 500 converged into a mass, quickly melting like ice, merging together.

Soon, over ten thousand mechanical beetles vanished, 25 metal arrows appeared mid-air, precisely Phantom Bees.

The Phantom Bee beside Duke Lan drifted to join the group of 25 Phantom Bees, totaling 26 Phantom Bees.

”I don’t have much time left, let’s begin.”
