Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1241: Chapter 1240: Dark Region (III)

”I really don’t know anything, Master...”

The Gray Dwarf still displayed an innocent and pure facade, while Fang Zheng merely gave him a gentle glance.

”You should think carefully, you still have an hour and fifteen minutes. If by then you haven’t answered my questions, you’ll never need to answer any questions again.”

”......”

The Gray Dwarf once again lowered his head, sweating profusely, unsure of what to say. He naturally understood Fang Zheng’s meaning; it only took an hour and fifteen minutes to reach the city of the Dark Elves from here. This meant if he hadn’t met the young man’s demands by the time they reached the city, he would be doomed!

”I-I really don’t know the situation with the Dark Elves, Master.”

The Gray Dwarf swallowed and spoke in a low voice.

”I only know that recently, the Dark Elves seem to have some important moves, they even don’t allow outsiders to enter the city easily. Even we merchants had to go through great efforts to get inside.”

”What important actions do they have?”

”How would I know, Master.”

At this point, the Gray Dwarf decided to open up.

”Since things have come to this, I’ll be honest with you. As you can see, I’m just an ordinary merchant. I’ve done some trading with the Dark Elves, but I have no curiosity about those thin dark-skinned ones. The secrets of the Dark Elves are lethal poison. If I knew any of their secrets, how could I possibly return alive!”

”Then let me ask you one more question, did you see any surface Elves in that city?”

”This.....”

Hearing this, the Gray Dwarf frowned once again. However, this time Fang Zheng didn’t say anything else. With a flick of his wrist, a dazzling gemstone hit the Gray Dwarf’s head. Holding the beautiful gemstone, the Gray Dwarf stared at it in surprise, wiped it vigorously—then broke into a smile.

”Let me think.... Yes, yes, I saw them. In fact, we saw quite a few Elves. They were all captured and taken to the First Family’s compound. We were also curious about what those thin dark-skinned ones were up to. But... we wouldn’t dare inquire about these things, as they’re matters of the Dark Elves. There’s a rumor that the First Family is gathering these Elves for some ritual... That’s all I know!”

”Alright.”

Hearing the Gray Dwarf’s answer, Fang Zheng shrugged.

”Then consider that the extent of your knowledge.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng nonchalantly tossed over a bag.

”This is for you, you may leave now.”

”R-really?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, the Gray Dwarf was ecstatic.

”Of course, you can take an Earth Beast, and the rest consider it as me purchasing it.”

Fang Zheng indicated that as a Paladin, he of course could not take even a needle or thread from the public. If he were to take something, he would certainly pay for it!

”Alright, Master, no problem, I’ll leave right away, right away!!”

At this point, the Gray Dwarf no longer cared about his losses. The gemstone Fang Zheng gave earlier was more than enough to compensate for the losses. Although Earth Beasts were difficult to obtain, as long as he successfully returned to Graystone Castle, with this large sum of money, he could gain a higher status. Then, he wouldn’t need to risk his life adventuring in the Dark Region!

Instinctively, the Gray Dwarf knew that if he chose to continue following them, he might receive more bountiful rewards. But for the residents of the Dark Region, wealth is never the issue, the key is to have a life to obtain it and to spend it!

He didn’t know who these bizarre surface adventurers were, but he was certain they weren’t here just for sightseeing!

Thinking of this, the Gray Dwarf hurriedly and respectfully bowed to Fang Zheng, then energetically hopped onto the hindmost Earth Beast, turning around and leaving immediately. It looked as if he feared they’d stop him, even the girls hadn’t reacted before the Gray Dwarf had ridden the Earth Beast far down into the depths of the tunnel.

”He just left?”

Watching the Gray Dwarf who had turned and left, the girls were momentarily stunned. After a while, Walnut scratched her head, confusedly asking.

”The courage of the underground residents isn’t very great, we’re obviously going to cause trouble, of course, he wouldn’t want to follow along.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng pulled out the ”Ratziel” and began investigating the situation with the Dark Elves. Regarding the Order Guardian Device, because of the Goddess of Order’s divine power shield, he couldn’t use the Omniscient Angel to investigate, so for the Dark Elves, it should be...

”Damn it!”

”What’s wrong, Fang Zheng big brother?”

Seeing Fang Zheng’s gloomy expression, Walnut curiously looked at him.

”Nothing, I just feel... no matter how I look at it, it’s a mess.”

Fang Zheng closed the Ratziel in his hand and couldn’t help but sigh.

Fang Zheng cursed because just now when he used ”Ratziel” to investigate the situation with the Dark Elves, he discovered a problem.

That is, ”Ratziel” could not reveal the mastermind behind the event.

Given the power of Ratziel, the only ones it couldn’t capture information about could be deities. And the deity behind the Dark Elves, there was only one.

That damned Mother Spider? What is she trying to do?

Staring at the incomplete data in the Ratziel in his hand, Fang Zheng frowned.

If he remembered correctly, the Goddess of Order had once told him that all deity-level beings in this world, or rather the deities worshiped by various races, like the Dwarf God, the Elf God, and the Demon King of Hell, were actually local races from various planets brought along by the Goddess of Order when she fled from the impact of the Chaos Waves.

And these deities were essentially beings among these races whose power surpassed the mortal realm, reaching the ”Guide” rank.

Moreover, the Goddess of Order had once attempted to use the Order Mark on these deities, but without exception, all attempts had failed. Thus, she placed her last hope on this world, where humans live alongside Chaos.

Although at the time, the Goddess of Order wasn’t very clear, Fang Zheng could be sure that regarding the truth of the Goddess of Order, if no one else, the ”gods” of the races definitely knew the inside story.

If that’s the case, why would the Dark Elves want to destroy the Goddess of Order’s guardian device?

The Dark Elves aren’t a Chaos race. According to the records Fang Zheng read in the White Tower, although the Dark Elf society is deeply evil by human civilization’s standards, it is an indisputable order civilization. Why would it want to target the Goddess of Order’s guardian device?

But regardless, since the issue involves deities, it won’t be easily resolved.

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but frown.

It seems this time, he must choose a better plan to solve this problem.
