Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1217: Chapter 1216: Sweet Trap

”W... mmm...”

Shisei slowly opened her eyes and looked around. She sat up, curiously observing where she was.

However, to Shisei’s surprise, the scene before her was very familiar to her.

Because this was her home, her bedroom, her bed.

”What’s this...”

Shisei got out of bed and discovered that she was wearing her pajamas. Simply put, this seemed to her like just the start of an ordinary day.

She walked over to the calendar and looked at it carefully. The date marked was Sunday.

Oh right, today is a day off.

Thinking of this, Shisei ”suddenly realized” as well. Then she changed clothes, freshened up, and left the bedroom to head to the dining room.

”Mother, are you there?”

However, to Shisei’s surprise, when she walked into the dining room, she saw a figure she hadn’t expected at all.

”Teacher?!”

At the dining table, it was neither her mother nor the household help. Instead, Fang Zheng was wearing an apron, holding a plate in one hand, placing food on the table. Hearing Shisei’s shout, Fang Zheng turned his head and smiled at her.

”Why call me teacher? Didn’t I say, at home you should call me brother?”

”Ah, sorry... brother...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, Shisei blushed. At the same time, a piece of information seemed to surface in her mind.

Oh right, this is my brother...

”Alright, breakfast is ready. Come and eat.”

”Okay!!”

Upon hearing this, Shisei smiled happily, nodded vigorously, then walked over to the table, sat down, and began to enjoy the delicious breakfast...

Shisei didn’t notice that the reflection in the window at that moment wasn’t of her familiar garden and trees but of a wooden backdrop, as if constructed from props on a drama stage. And in the pitch-black sky, a spotlight was shining with a dazzling radiance.

Meanwhile...

”Big brother, what kind of trial do you think Shisei will face?”

Looking at Shisei standing there with her eyes closed, as if she were a puppet, Little Hei looked curiously at Fang Zheng and asked.

”I don’t know either.”

Fang Zheng shook his head.

”What I did was create an illusion realm in the depths of Shisei’s soul, one that only she knows. It contains the perfect dream she wishes to realize. You could say that world is the ideal one for Shisei, the dream she most desires to come true.”

”Isn’t this a good thing?”

Upon hearing this, Nanoha also asked curiously. However, Illya shook her head.

”Of course not, it’s just like the Holy Grail; people achieve their goals not through their efforts but by directly accepting a gift... Master, is Shisei really okay?”

”And it’s just a dream... Big brother, aren’t you being too sneaky...”

”This is the trial.”

Hearing Illya and Little Hei’s dissatisfied complaints, Fang Zheng also shook his head helplessly.

”She has to judge for herself what is real and what is illusion. In the end, whether to face reality or immerse herself in dreams, reality is not always gratifying, so we have to strive hard. Of course, for a child, such a request is rather high...”

As he spoke, even Fang Zheng was a bit unsure. No matter how smart or well-tempered Shisei was, she was still just a child, a child who loved to dream. It’s important to note that this illusion realm was constructed with divine power, which for most people could be reality. If Shisei became so engrossed in a dream that she couldn’t extricate herself, then what?

However, this was the only method Fang Zheng could think of at the moment.

QB’s system had this ”wishing” part, which Fang Zheng turned into dreams—after all, QB wouldn’t concern itself with the consequences of granting wishes, but Fang Zheng had to consider it. He wasn’t running a pyramid scheme, where services were non-refundable after being sold.

Actually, many times, the wishes of the magical girls were quite simple. With a few rare exceptions, most people’s wishes could be fulfilled by adults.

Of course, exceptions like Mami Tomoe exist, who made a contract with QB when she was in a car accident and dying, just to survive—those belong to force majeure.

Yet, magical girls ultimately fight for dreams and futures, protecting their own and others’ dreams. Thus, they shouldn’t be easily tempted by the petty gains in front of them.

That’s easy to say, but Fang Zheng couldn’t figure out what ”petty gain” would lure Shisei.

But at this moment, Shisei was indulging in happiness and sweetness.

She was sitting on the sofa, leaning against Fang Zheng, watching TV with him. What’s shown on TV were several puppets in suits, moving as if in a puppet show. But Shisei watched with keen interest, even wrapping her hand around Fang Zheng’s arm.

”Ding-dong---!”

At this moment, the doorbell rang. Shisei stood up and curiously walked to the front door to open it.

Then, Little Sakura appeared before her.

”Little Sakura?!”

Seeing Little Sakura, Shisei felt both surprised and delighted.

”Why are you here?”

”Eh? You called me to come yesterday, didn’t you?”

Faced with Shisei’s inquiry, Little Sakura blinked in confusion. Shisei was momentarily stunned, and then a line of information quickly surfaced in her mind.

Oh right, that did happen...

”Yes, really, how could I forget...”

”I never thought Shisei could be so forgetful for once.”

Looking at Shisei, Little Sakura smiled. The two held hands and walked in. Shisei then looked at Fang Zheng sitting in the living room and waved at him.

”Brother, Little Sakura is here. I’m bringing her to my room.”

”Have fun.”

Sitting on the sofa, Fang Zheng also waved his hand, greeted Little Sakura, and then turned back to continue watching TV. Shisei, holding Little Sakura’s hand, brought her to her room. On the table in Shisei’s bedroom, snacks and tea were already prepared.

”Here, Little Sakura, I just made new clothes recently. You try them on.”

”Ah, okay...”

Faced with Shisei’s words, Little Sakura didn’t refuse. She quickly took the clothes Shisei handed over, went to the nearby dressing room, and soon reappeared in the new outfit. At this moment, Shisei had already taken out her video camera, excitedly filming Little Sakura.

”Ha ah... so cute, Little Sakura is indeed the cutest! And this one, and this one... try them all on one by one!”

”Ah... mm! As long as Shisei likes it, I can wear it anytime for you to see.”

”That’s wonderful!”

Hearing this, Shisei was so happy that she almost cried.

”I’m so happy!!”
