Chapter 1216: Chapter 1215: The First Trial

Soon, after breakfast, everyone gathered at the highest floor of the Immovable Library, standing in front of Fang Zheng.

After the efforts of Fang Zheng and others, they had now rescued and reverted eighteen people back to Magical Girls. Including Little Sakura, Nanoha, Fate, Illya, and Little Hei by Fang Zheng’s side, there were a total of twenty-three Magical Girls.

Of course, there were also Kyoko and Saya, who came as ”part-timers”.

After Kamijou Kyousuke’s hand healed, Kyoko explained the situation here to Saya. At first, Saya was puzzled, but after witnessing everything here firsthand, she naturally agreed without a second thought.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, please have some tea.”

Kyoko handed a cup of tea to Fang Zheng, who nodded, then looked ahead. He saw everyone standing in front of him, many with a hint of anxiety on their faces. Clearly, many of them did not know why Fang Zheng had called them over.

”I suppose you’re all wondering why I called you here.”

Fang Zheng didn’t waste any time and got straight to the point.

”In fact, I’ve researched a method that could completely change your current situation. If all goes well, the problems with the Soul Gem and being a Magical Girl will be resolved, and you won’t turn into Witches again.”

”Really!”

”That’s great!!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, many Magical Girls cheered. They had been forcibly reverted back after twisting into Witches. To be honest, for these Magical Girls, it was akin to a rebirth. Just like people who fail a suicide attempt often cherish life more, those who once transformed into Witches due to despair and distortion now deeply understood the preciousness of life. If possible, they naturally wished to escape this state.

But Fang Zheng gestured for them to quiet down before continuing.

”However, I must first tell you that this is my latest developed technique and has never been used before. Simply put, you’ll face a trial. If you pass, you’ll become a different kind of Magical Girl... somewhat like Nanoha and Fate. In short, you’ll consume magic power, and be able to recover it yourself. Even if it’s entirely depleted, you’ll only feel exhausted, not turn into Witches.”

”So what if we fail?”

Magical Girls, having been fooled by QB once, weren’t naive—after all, as the saying goes, one must not trip over the same stone twice.

Someone quickly asked, and Fang Zheng gave an answer.

”If you fail, theoretically you’ll lose the power of a Magical Girl and become a normal person... but!!”

Fang Zheng knocked on the table.

”I need to say this again, no one can guarantee success. This is the first experiment; there’s even a possibility of death... so you must think it through!”

This time, Fang Zheng’s tone was serious, and everyone quickly began to ponder.

Satisfied to see the girls quiet down again, Fang Zheng continued.

”Next, I’ll look for three groups of people for observation and comparison. Hmm... first, I need an ordinary person, then a normal Magical Girl, and finally, a Magical Girl who reverted from being a Witch... think carefully who wants to participate in the experiment.”

Upon hearing this, the girls discussed for a moment, then a lively Magical Girl raised her hand high.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, may I ask what the success rate is?”

”As of now, it’s hard to guarantee, but ordinary people are the safest. Even if they fail, they won’t turn into Witches. However, for Magical Girls, it’s hard to say... if you insist on me giving a number, it’s fifty-fifty with luck, and the rest depends on your determination and will.”

Upon hearing this, the girls pondered for a moment, then grouped up in threes and fives, whispering to each other, while Fang Zheng took a sip of water and leaned on the chair beside him.

”Teacher, are you looking for a normal girl to become a Magical Girl?”

At this moment, Little Sakura and others came to Fang Zheng’s side, asking with some apprehension, and Fang Zheng nodded.

”That’s right, it’s necessary, because the trial for ordinary people is the safest. If any issues arise, it’s easy to remedy. We can also observe for any new problems... but the trouble now is we can’t find anyone...”

”Can’t Sister Kyoko and Sister Saya do it?”

”They’re just temporary workers.”

Fang Zheng shook his head.

”Plus, I promised Homura not to let Kyoko become a Magical Girl. Besides... forget it, there’s no point in saying more.”

As for Miki Saya, Fang Zheng hadn’t planned on making her a Magical Girl either, but finding someone else wasn’t easy either...

”Um... teacher?”

Just at this moment, an unexpected figure appeared.

Shisei stepped out from the crowd, raising her hand out of curiosity.

”Can I try?”

”Shisei?!”

Seeing her friend, Little Sakura was also taken aback, while Shisei gave a slightly embarrassed smile.

”After all, I’ve always admired Magical Girls. Even though I have no magic power, I hope to help Little Sakura, like Nanoha, Fate, Illya, and Sister Little Hei...”

Hearing this, Little Sakura and Nanoha remained silent.

Indeed, Shisei had always been in the rear, providing support. But to say she wasn’t lonely was unnecessary. Moreover, other Magical Girls were paired, with Little Sakura being alone... how should I put it... anyway, it’s not a matter of joy.

”How about it, teacher? Can I become a Magical Girl?”

”Uh......”

Faced with Shisei’s inquiry, Fang Zheng frowned. To be honest, he hadn’t thought of Shisei, but truthfully, she was indeed a very suitable candidate. She was mentally strong, intelligent, gentle, and kind. Yet, considering the Magical Girl trial...

”Theoretically, yes, but are you sure? This trial isn’t simple—it reveals the deepest thoughts and desires of your heart, things you may not wish to see, or things you never thought you’d think... even if you don’t fail, it could be quite a shock and result in serious harm.”

”Uh... is it that scary?”

Hearing this, the girls’ expressions changed slightly, while Shisei thought for a moment and looked back at Fang Zheng.

”I’m willing, teacher... I want to try. No matter what, I hope to stand by Little Sakura’s side and fight alongside her.”

”Alright.”

Since Shisei had made her decision, Fang Zheng didn’t hesitate further. He stood up, approached Shisei, and looked at the girl before him.

”Shisei, close your eyes and feel the power deep within your soul...”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng extended his right hand, placing it on Shisei’s forehead.
