Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1228: Chapter 1227: Is This Really the Only Move We Have?

The battle with the Witch’s Night was indeed more difficult than with other witches.

Upon actual contact, Fang Zheng quickly realized this.

The Witch’s Night was capable of controlling familiar spirits with considerable strength, almost equivalent to a witch of average rank, and there were many of them. According to Akemi Homura, when she and Kyoko faced the Witch’s Night before, it did not control so many familiar spirits. This could likely be due to the large number of magical girls present this time, stimulating the Witch’s Night to release more familiar spirits.

Of course, the Witch’s Night has a wide array of attack methods beyond the numerous and powerful familiar spirits; its own strength is equally formidable.

Not only does it have a large attack range, but it can also manipulate debris from other high-rise buildings to launch attacks. Fortunately, these magical girls were strong and battle-hardened, managing to deal with these troubles.

However, the biggest issue remains, as Akemi Homura mentioned.

No health bar.

Of course, there aren’t any health bars in reality, but the term refers to a similar concept rather than literal health points.

The witch of that Witch’s Night isn’t invulnerable. In fact, attacks from magical girls like Mami Tomoe, Anzu, and Akemi Homura from this world, or Little Sakura, Nanoha from another world, all affect it.

Yet it just can’t be killed.

But this doesn’t mean Fang Zheng is without a trump card to deliver a fatal blow.

”Illya!”

”Understood!”

Heeding Fang Zheng’s command, Illya quickly jumped out and stood on the railing. Then she extended her hand, took out a ”LANCER” card, and placed it at the tip of her magic wand.

”Phantasmal Summoning!”

With Illya’s call, a purple radiance burst from her body. Her pink magical girl outfit transformed into a deep purple tight combat suit. Then Illya raised her hands, and two bright red long spears appeared in her hands.

”Pull the Witch’s Night over here!”

Hearing Little Hei’s command, the magical girls tangled with the Witch’s Night immediately raised their weapons, unleashing their special attacks. Soon, with a ”hahaha” laughter, the gigantic witch was knocked back fiercely, rushing towards Illya’s position. At the same time, Illya suddenly leaped up.

In the next moment, two twisting crimson lightning bolts shot out from her hands, spinning to strike heavily against the witch, binding it tightly in place.

”Nanoha! Little Sakura!”

”Understood!”

Responding to Illya’s call, Little Sakura, Nanoha, and Fate hurried over. Little Sakura stretched out her hand, retrieving a Clow Card, while Nanoha raised her Heart of the Rising Sun, aiming it at the tightly bound witch. Illya, on the other hand, tightened her grip on her bright red long spear and raised it high.

”Thrust, penetrate, Gae Bolg Alternative!”

With a roar, Nanoha forcefully threw the crimson long spear in her hand, and that divine spear rapidly transformed into a dazzling thunderbolt in the sky, suddenly piercing through the witch’s body!

”Ah—————!!”

A piercing scream rang out. The witch, seemingly taken a severe hit, started gradually plummeting to the ground. However, it was evidently unwilling to admit defeat just yet and still had the strength to launch attacks.

At this moment, Little Sakura also raised the Clow Card in her hand.

”Please sever this sorrowful chain of fate — SWORD!”

Under Little Sakura’s call, her magic wand swiftly transformed into a sharp longsword. Then, she raised the longsword and slashed it forcefully at the witch below her not far away.

”Swoosh———!!”

An invisible blade cleaved the witch in half, and even the sea below split open with a massive incision, looking as majestic as Moses parting the sea.

”Tsk tsk tsk, it seems Little Sakura did an extraordinary performance this time too....”

Watching this scene, even Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow.

Compared to Nanoha and Illya, Little Sakura had a myriad of Clow Cards with diverse characteristics, though strictly speaking, Clow Cards specifically for attacks were scarce.

However, Clow Cards had one terrifying trait, and that was — no limit.

Yes, the traits represented by Clow Cards had no upper limit. Theoretically, if Little Sakura wished, she could potentially slice the Earth in half with a single strike.

Of course, in reality, this is very difficult. Even pure traits require a massive amount of magic power support. Little Sakura splitting the Earth open — as of now, it seems unlikely even in a lifetime.

Moreover, Little Sakura certainly wouldn’t do such a thing.

However, even after being pierced by Illya and cleaved by Little Sakura, the witch still showed no signs of complete demise. It continued struggling insanely, with its bisected body gradually recovering, undergoing restoration.

Yet at that moment, dazzling starlight illuminated the pitch-black, dim sky.

”Run!!”

Seeing this scene, Fate quickly grabbed Mami Tomoe beside her and led her to retreat hastily. Although the other magical girls didn’t know what was happening, they immediately withdrew swiftly upon seeing Fate’s reaction.

Simultaneously, Nanoha’s voice rang out.

”This is my full power release — Starlight Breaker!!”

In the next moment, the descending torrent of Magical Cannon completely engulfed the witch in front of them.

Blinding white light shot up to the sky.

A massive pink sphere erupted on the ground, whirling and devouring everything around, even vaporizing the seawater. Numerous scattered beams of light covered all directions, impacting the ground and the sea, each triggering bigger explosions.

For a moment, the entire world seemed on the brink of destruction. The pitch-black, enormous figure of the witch shattered and vanished amidst the incessant torrent of magic.

Until moments later, the radiance faded, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

”Hiss......”

Watching Nanoha floating in mid-air, one magical girl gasped, then turned to her companion, shuddering.

”I’m telling you......”

”Hmm?”

”There’s truly no need for a Witch’s Night; this little girl’s blast seems far more powerful than the witch... Is this a nuclear explosion?”

”No, considering the current power, it should far exceed that of an average nuclear bomb.”

Hearing their conversation, another magical girl standing behind them adjusted her glasses and murmured softly.

”.........”

Is this still human?!

”—————!!”

Amid the magical girls shivering from Nanoha’s barrage, another sharp, wailing scream rang out, leading to an unexpected event.

Right where Nanoha had blasted the witch, black specks of light gradually condensed, and shortly after — that witch actually revived once again!

Stunned, everyone watched.

Is this even possible?!

Facing this scene, Fang Zheng frowned and looked at Homura beside him.

”Have you encountered this before?”

”No, previously Kyoko killing it was no different from killing an ordinary witch.”

Homura shook her head, revealing a puzzled expression as she clearly didn’t know what was going on.

However, she wouldn’t despair because of it, as she didn’t belong solely to herself; she was merely Fang Zheng’s puppet.

Could it really be as Homura said, that only Kyoko could kill it, while others couldn’t?

Fang Zheng only pondered briefly before issuing a command.

”Continue fighting.”
