Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1234: Chapter 1233: The Truth of the Goddess of Order

After an unknown period of time, the voice within the Goddess of Order gradually calmed down, and she smiled at Fang Zheng, much like a professional receptionist.

”Alright, let’s talk about something important...”

Fang Zheng forced himself to ignore the occasional moaning sound and began to converse with the Goddess of Order before him.

”In fact, there are many things I wish to understand.”

”I can understand.”

This Goddess of Order appeared quite rational, nodding gently.

”So, where do you plan to start? Is it from our existence? Or the origin of this world? Or perhaps the cause and effect of all this?”

”Uh... Let’s start with a self-introduction.”

Fang Zheng hesitated for a moment, but decided to start from the beginning.

”My name is Fang Zheng, and currently, I’m considered a Paladin of the Sanctuary...”

”And also a Deity.”

The Goddess of Order quietly interjected Fang Zheng’s speech.

”I can sense the Divine Power within you. Although it’s quite weak, it is indeed true Order Divine Power... Hmm, let me see, this is... the God of Magical Girls? What is that?”

”It’s not a big deal.”

Fang Zheng decisively interrupted the Goddess of Order.

”Let’s return to the main topic. You all are...”

”As I mentioned earlier, we are a collective consciousness of the Goddess of Order. From a certain perspective, you could say we represent the Goddess of Order.”

”Then... where is the original Goddess of Order?”

”......”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s inquiry, the Goddess of Order remained silent for a moment before giving an answer.

”If you mean the Goddess of Order who came to this world, established order, and created the heavens and the earth as recorded in the Sanctuary Codex, she is already dead.”

Thus, the Goddess of Order in front of him casually dropped a piece of news significant enough to cause a shock in the Sanctuary.

And Fang Zheng was taken aback by this answer.

”Dead?”

”Yes.”

The Goddess of Order nodded.

”The original Goddess of Order expended too much power in creating and protecting this world, so much so that in the end, she could not unleash her full power in battle against Chaos. Although she did indeed push back Chaos, she had no strength left to repair the gaps. I think you’ve seen it; although the continent currently seems relatively peaceful, the power of Chaos is still omnipresent.”

”That much I am aware. So... what are you all?”

Fang Zheng keenly noticed that this Goddess of Order used a very distant third-person tone when referring to herself, as if speaking about someone entirely unrelated to her. This was unlike the reaction Fang Zheng imagined the Goddess of Order would have.

”We are her reincarnations.”

”Reincarnations...?”

”That’s correct.”

The Goddess of Order nodded again.

”The Goddess of Order knew she wouldn’t live much longer, so she digitized her soul and actively inserted it into the reincarnation system. This way, she could resurrect and be reborn anytime, anywhere, walking the continent in various identities and forms, observing and adjusting the battle between Order and Chaos. Once she dies in this lifetime, a copy of her personality and memories from this life will be stored in this fusion entity.”

”Is there... any meaning to this? Besides, you seem a bit schizophrenic?”

Fang Zheng could understand reincarnation, but he couldn’t comprehend how the same person could have such varying personalities.

”Because each time she reincarnates, the original wipes all memories except her identity and abilities as the Goddess of Order, leaving everything else blank. Because of this, each generation of the Goddess of Order develops different personalities due to varying living environments and experiences. The previous one used to be a mercenary, so her language was quite crude... Who the hell’s crude, it’s called straightforwardness. Unlike you pretentious young ladies, pretending to be all prim and proper while you’re secretly scoundrels. Who threw the vase at me just now, step forward... Just you wait, I’ll... mmm...!”

”Truly dull.”

This time, the appearance of the Goddess of Order in front of Fang Zheng changed again. If she had looked like an elegant young lady before, now she resembled a rational, typical Mage. Her expression turned cold and indifferent, with a golden-framed pair of glasses unknowingly appearing on her face. She reached out, adjusted her glasses, and then looked at Fang Zheng.

”Let’s cut to the chase, each lifetime of the Goddess of Order walks the earth for about a century. Upon death, their instance is stored in our data... Do you understand my meaning?”

”Of course, I understand.”

”It’s good you understand.”

This Goddess of Order seemed more like a reclusive scientist. Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, she merely nodded and continued speaking.

”Your ability to find this place means this world has achieved the level of civilization to step into the stars, so...”

”Uh... Excuse me.”

Seeing this Goddess of Order about to continue, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but raise his hand, and upon hearing his voice, she slightly frowned and looked at him.

”What’s the matter?”

”In fact, this world’s civilization hasn’t even left the atmosphere. The reason I could open this place is because I have my own fleet. But this isn’t a part of this world’s civilization power, it’s from another world. Currently, the civilization here is only at the level of atmospheric flight.”

”I understand, but it doesn’t matter. Since you found it, telling you is the same.”

She seemed indifferent to this answer, the Goddess of Order.

”Perhaps you’ve already noticed, this world isn’t normal. In fact, we are currently in a peculiar dimensional space, and this planet was hidden by the earliest Goddess of Order. So there’s nothing outside, no Sun, no Moon, and no asteroid belt, just endless darkness.”

”... Why did she do this?”

”It’s very simple.”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s inquiry, the Goddess of Order calmly provided an answer.

”Because the outside world has already been destroyed.”

”...........”

Although Fang Zheng had similar suspicions, hearing the Goddess of Order directly confirm it made him frown involuntarily.

”Destroyed? What do you mean? Are you saying some terrifying creature is sweeping through the universe, wiping out all living beings?”

At this point, Fang Zheng first thought of the Reapers from the Mass Effect world, but the Goddess of Order shook her head.

”That’s just one aspect. Mutated creatures are not difficult to deal with, but now, the entire world outside has turned into chaos.”

Here, she paused.

”In this world, you should have seen the land eroded by Chaos. In fact, that’s just the tip of the iceberg of the Chaos Aura leaking in from outside. This refuge isn’t permanently safe; the longer time goes on, the less effective it becomes. Moreover, the humans of this world are a foolish and short-sighted race. They abandoned what they once guarded for power and worthless honor. Now, everything is set.”

”...........”

”Do you have any other questions?”

This Goddess of Order didn’t seem enthusiastic or hospitable, and her attitude was harsh, but Fang Zheng didn’t care about that. He stared at her and asked another question burning in his mind.

”Why did I come to this world? What is this system—Dimensional Codex, exactly?”
