Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 397: Chapter 396: The World That Is Gradually Beginning to Change

Three hours later, Qiwu Zongxuan and his companions appeared before Fang Zheng once more, but though their appearances were unchanged, their aura had greatly transformed.

”Master, we follow your will.”

”Hmm...”

As he looked at the formerly arrogant President of the Osaka Special Zone now bowing deferentially like a grandson before him, Fang Zheng crossed his arms and scrutinized him closely.

”Something’s not right. Turn back into the everyday Qiwu Zongxuan for me to see.”

”Yes, Master.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s command, Qiwu Zongxuan responded, then raised his head. The next moment, the burly man suddenly widened his eyes, exuding a formidable presence as he faced Fang Zheng.

”Hello, Mr. Fang Zheng, I think we can have a proper talk!”

”Very well, that’s quite good.”

Seeing the man before him who finally resembled the Qiwu Zongxuan he remembered, Fang Zheng nodded in satisfaction. At least on the surface, there seemed to be no difference from normal. It appeared that this time, Lulana’s experiment had finally succeeded.

”You can take the others back now. Do you remember your mission?”

”Of course, Master.”

At that moment, Qiwu Zongxuan once again reverted to the respectful demeanor he had in front of Fang Zheng.

”I will go back to the Osaka Special Zone and then infect all the other target individuals, turning them into members of our race.”

”Right, remember, proceed in order of age, and leave those who have not shown hostility towards the Cursed Child uninfected and un-brainwashed for now.”

Fang Zheng had no intention of starting a plan to infect and brainwash everyone right away, because such a plan could backfire if not handled properly. This was similar to his decision not to send a Zerg army directly into this world; instead, using the Amoeba to infect and manipulate was a simpler and more easily infiltrative method.

Of course, Fang Zheng was not only targeting the Osaka District; Qiwu Zongxuan was merely a test subject. Once the ”reform” of the Osaka Special Zone succeeded, Fang Zheng would immediately push it worldwide. This would not be difficult as Taurus’s death was currently the most sensational news in this world, and countries worldwide were paying attention to it. As long as Fang Zheng played his cards right, using this opportunity to convene a United Nations conference or something of that nature... heh, then the power dynamics might be thoroughly shaken up.

”There’s another very important matter that I need to report to you, Master.”

”Oh?”

Upon hearing Qiwu Zongxuan speak, Fang Zheng raised his eyebrows.

”What is it?”

”It’s like this: While absorbing the host’s memories earlier, I discovered that though Qiwu Zongxuan appears to be the leader of the Osaka Special Zone, he also has another, more secretive identity, which is that of a senior member of the Five Wings Society.”

”The Five Wings Society? What in the world is that?”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng also paused in surprise, wondering who had come up with such an ugly name that made it feel like five piles of dung had gathered for a meeting.

”It’s like this...”

Under the introduction of Qiwu Zongxuan, Fang Zheng finally understood what the Five Wings Society was. Frankly, it was one of those organizations inevitably appearing in the backdrop, stubbornly clinging to life and foolishly dreaming of world domination. What interested Fang Zheng more was the origin of the Five Wings Society—according to the intelligence extracted from Qiwu Zongxuan’s memory, the society seemed to have a vague and incomprehensible connection to the origin of the Intestinal Creatures. It could even be said that the prototype of this organization were those who researched and created the Intestinal Virus, only later, for unknown reasons, they messed up and caused the virus to infect Earth. These individuals then went underground and ended up forming something called the Five Wings Society.

Not to mention, at least in technology and biochemistry, the Five Wings Society wasn’t too shabby. According to Qiwu Zongxuan, over the years, they had been searching for people who were on the brink of death in battles to bring them back and transform them into Mecha Warriors for their use. From this perspective, the technological capabilities of the Five Wings Society were quite acceptable.

As for this sudden gift package, Fang Zheng was naturally all smiles as he accepted it. Before, not knowing about the Five Wings Society was one thing, but now that he knew, there was naturally no reason to let them go.

However, after that, Fang Zheng still had one other troublesome matter to deal with.

That was the Holy Son.

To be honest, Fang Zheng found people like this the most troublesome. If the Holy Son had been as ambitious as Qiwu Zongxuan or as ruthless as Nanny Rong, he would have sent a Shapeshifting Amoeba their way without a second thought. Although the Holy Son was indeed fairly attractive, Fang Zheng was not one to be dazzled by beauty, and frankly, he wasn’t particularly fond of this type of person.

But dealing with someone like a naive sweetie pie... Fang Zheng genuinely didn’t know how to proceed for a moment. This person did indeed care about the Cursed Child, and the passing of the legislation was largely thanks to her persistence. Even as a BOSS, Fang Zheng was a principled mastermind; burning bridges after crossing them was absolutely not done, as almost all BOSSes who did that ended up dead. On the other hand, those BOSSes who were persistent, conscientious, responsible, and moralistic, even if defeated, could often gain an ”immortal” or ”phoenix-like rebirth” buff, right?

For a villainous BOSS, severing ties after using someone was basically akin to saying ”I’m going back to my hometown to get married after this battle,” a sure death FLAG.

Not to mention, the other party was also seen as a semi-typical character of the Righteous Faction, definitely not someone you could easily betray.

But that didn’t mean Fang Zheng had no way to deal with this at all.

Following this, the world underwent a major transformation.

When the news that one of the culprits of humanity’s destruction, Taurus from the Zodiac Belt, was dead spread worldwide, people were stirred. At the same time, the Prime Minister of the Tokyo Special Zone, the Holy Son, invited representatives from various nations to Tokyo Special Zone, taking this opportunity to discuss strategies against the Intestinal Creatures. Following the invitation of the Holy Son, representatives from various regions arrived in Tokyo Special Zone to participate in a joint conference.

After five days of closed-door meetings, the representatives reached an agreement. Due to the remarkable performance of the Cursed Children in the Taurus War, they decided to enact the ”Cursed Child Protection Act.” Moreover, they agreed to establish an organization to shelter and protect the Cursed Children, which would be managed by the Heavenly Dao Palace.

Upon release of this news, the whole world was in uproar, with many regions from the ”Age of Plunder” protesting loudly, and even rulers and top officials from those regions expressed significant dissatisfaction. However, once the representatives attending the joint conference returned to their respective regions, it wasn’t long before the initially furious leaders changed their tune, starting to implement the ”Cursed Child Protection Act” within their own regions. Those who had been most vehemently against the act were soon arrested.

At the same time, the IISO organization fundamentally changed its mission, becoming a subordinate organization of the Heavenly Dao Palace, responsible for taking in and protecting the Cursed Children worldwide.

For the people of this world, such changes were unimaginable, but for Fang Zheng, all this was within his expectations. The Swarm was slowly but steadily eroding the human society of this world, and now, in the human settlements all over the world, sixty percent of the top leaders and heads had been infected and replaced by the Shapeshifting Amoeba, not to mention their subordinates and families.

Of course, the process wasn’t without its challenges, and there were those who noticed that something was amiss. However, Fang Zheng’s Swarm was no vegetarian. Most sparks of resistance were snuffed out before they could grow into roaring fires, and at least for now, everything was proceeding normally.

But Fang Zheng knew this was only temporary.

As time passed, the world too would gradually change. The ”Cursed Children” of today and those ten years later would definitely be different. However, for Fang Zheng, that was still too far off in the future; at least for now, he had achieved his goal.

And next, it was time to return to the Main World and settle accounts.
