Chapter 353: Chapter 352: The Girls Falling into Desperation

At this moment on the mountaintop, the battle was still ongoing.

“We can’t hold on much longer!!”

After manipulating the Flame Falcon to burn another Frost Giant to ash, Hailien gasped for air, her flames beginning to die out. Beside her, the Elf girl charged forward in a swift step, raising her longbow to aim at a distant Goblin Shaman and releasing an arrow that piercingly shot through the Goblin Shaman’s neck. She immediately raised her hand to draw another arrow from her quiver on her back but grasped at air.

“I’ve run out of arrows!”

“I, I can still hold on for a bit longer, Sagittarius is about to change positions!”

The Astrologer girl was also sweating profusely at this moment. Her arrows still flew with force and precision, but her complexion was turning quite pale. After all, Astrologers are fundamentally casters, and maintaining such power was quite taxing for her.

“I still have three Healing Techniques and two Protective Barriers left…”

Lady Fina also seemed strained, serving as the front-line cleric who not only had to fend off the attacks of goblins and goblins but also had to constantly heal her allies, making her even more exhausted compared to others.

“My offensive Magic Artifacts…are almost depleted too…”

Katie spoke up weakly from the side. As a Wanderer who had maxed out her stealth skills, she had suffered almost no damage and attacks. But even so, the Young Lady had one significant flaw—her Magic Artifacts had a limited number of uses, and they were nearing their end.

“Cleric Maiden! Watch out!”

Just then, accompanied by the Dwarf’s shout, Fina suddenly felt a whoosh behind her head, and she quickly turned around only to see a Goblin screaming and swinging a wooden club hard at her. Seeing the Goblin, Fina was startled and without hesitation, she raised her left hand clutching the shield and slapped it at the Goblin, hearing a ‘smack.’ The Goblin struck by the shield flew back instantly, crashing heavily to the ground. Fina took the opportunity to step forward and swung down her Meteor Hammer with a ‘squelch’, smashing the Goblin’s head into a pulpy mess.

“We can’t keep this up; we must retreat!”

Seeing the monsters closing in from all around, Uncle Stonehammer also showed a look of anxiety. They had cut down more than a hundred creatures, including formidable enemies like Frost Giants, and the leaders of these monsters were swiftly dealt with by collective fire. But to their surprise, the other monsters didn’t scatter and retreat at the death of their leaders but instead closed in from all sides, launching a fierce attack that left the group rather overstretched.

“Alright, we need to withdraw immediately as planned and head back the same way, to the cave!”

Lady Fina made a decisive decision. Fang Zheng had already said that if he wasn’t present, Fina would lead and command on his behalf; he trusted the Cleric Maiden enormously and acknowledged her capabilities. Now, in Fang Zheng’s absence, Fina naturally took up her responsibility without passing the buck.

“Katie, please cover us as we retreat. Miss Molly and Little M, secure our rear. Mr. Dwarf, it’s time for us to withdraw!”

“Ya—————!!”

As Fina’s words fell, Little Fire Dragon raised its head and let out a light cry, followed by a golden clock Array appearing above everyone’s heads and then beginning to spin rapidly. With the emergence of the Array, everyone’s speed suddenly increased a great deal, as if they turned into a whirlwind and instantly distanced themselves from the enclosing monsters.

The goblins, gnolls, and goblins were clearly not expecting such speed from what they perceived as nearly exhausted enemies, and they too were taken aback for a moment. By the time they charged toward the group again, Fina and the others had already opened up a gap of nearly three hundred meters.

“Now, Katie!” ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com

“Alright!”

Upon hearing Fina’s command, Katie, who was in a stealth state, quietly responded. She then reached out, took a small vanity case from her pocket, and opened it to shine it forward. Quickly, a wall flickering with rainbow hues rose up in front of them, halting the enemy’s advance. The monsters that charged into the Rainbow Magic Wall were either petrified, lost limbs or heads, and some goblins even succumbed to poison, screaming as they fell to the ground.

But just then, bad news came from behind.

“Lady Fina, there are gnolls coming around from behind!”

Molly glanced at the cave entrance and was surprised to discover that several fully armed gnolls had at some point circled to their rear and blocked the cave entrance. These Gnolls were more agile than goblins or goblins; they were apparently well-prepared.

However, the real trouble was yet to come.

“Ahhhhhhhh!”

Accompanied by a scream, they saw the Astrologer collapse onto the ground, and at the same time, the cloak and longbow she was wearing vanished into thin air with a twinkle of starlight.

“Little M, get up quickly!”

“My, my foot seems to be sprained…”

Having lost the protection of Sagittarius, the Astrologer now reverted to her previous clumsy and fragile self, and with Fina’s assistance, she clenched her teeth and managed to stand up from the ground with great difficulty. But the situation had not improved; their retreat was now cut off, and they still had no news from Fang Zheng. What was more, they had now lost their fighting capability—Hailien could still swing her greatsword to attack, but her physical strength was not enough to sustain her in battle for much longer. Molly had run out of arrows and could only fend off enemies with the dagger and short sword at her waist. The Astrologer had completely lost her ability to fight and had even sprained her ankle.

Now, Fina, the Stonehammer Dwarf, and Katie were all at the end of their tether.

“Katie, go back and seek the help of the dwarf reinforcements. Uncle Stonehammer’s forces should be nearby. Until then, we will defend this place,” Fina said.

“But, but…”

Hearing Fina’s command, Katie appeared hesitant. Although her almost divine-stealth skill could indeed help her evade the gnolls, it was the first time for her, a pampered young lady, to face such a dire situation. Gazing at her companions, who were out of breath and nearly unable to move, Katie felt her feet as heavy as though they were filled with lead. She was filled with fear and worry. What if she couldn’t find the dwarven reinforcements? What if, by the time she found them and returned, it was already too late?

“I, I…”

For the first time, Katie felt an overwhelming fear, and she even stuttered, unable to speak.

“Everyone, gather around me, and Katie, release a protective barrier!” Fina ordered.

“Okay, got it!”

Upon hearing Fina’s command, Katie’s nervousness eased a bit. She hurriedly pulled a crystal ball from her pocket, intending to activate it, but just then, she slipped suddenly underfoot. With a scream, she slid down the slope.

“Ahhhhhhhh!”

Just then, they saw the Little Fire Dragon circling above cry out, and with a flap of its wings, it dove down, biting into Katie’s collar with its mouth and stopping her slide. However, at the same time, Katie’s invisibility was broken, and soon, the creatures around them noticed the fragile figure struggling on the slope.

“No, no, don’t look at me, don’t look at me!!”

Realizing the gazes fixed on her, Katie became even more panicked. She was afraid of being scrutinized by others, let alone the naked greed and cruelty in the eyes of those creatures. The sheer malice that seemed to overflow from their stares made her intolerable.

“Not good, Katie!!”

Seeing this scene, everyone was shocked, but they were unable to do anything at the moment and could only watch as the gnolls nimbly and swiftly climbed the cliff, their jaws agape, lunging towards Katie.

“Don’t come any closer————!!”

Seeing the creatures that had rushed up to her, Katie screamed in terror, when at that moment…

“———————!”

An invisible pressure descended instantaneously, enveloping the entire mountaintop.
