Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 378: Chapter 377: Hunter and Prey

Night fell.

In the pitch-black jungle, countless intestinal creatures with glowing red eyes were gathering, seemingly maintaining regular active and rest periods like ordinary animals. At this moment, most of the intestinal creatures were lying on the ground, eyes closed, resting in the shadows of the jungle.

”Mostly Rank I and Rank II intestinal creatures are here, with a larger number of Rank III and Rank IV to the southeast.”

While closing his eyes and sensing the fluctuations of the intestinal creatures around him, Natsuse relayed the information to his companions.

The ranks of the intestinal creatures were divided from I to V. Rank I was the initial level where the transformation had just occurred, retaining their original form. But the more genes these intestinal creatures fused with, the higher their rank became, and the more bizarre their appearances until they reached Rank IV, which basically resembled the indescribable abominations akin to the Evil God Cthulhu.

For now, the intestinal creatures appearing before the girls were mostly enlarged versions of various animals and insects, such as beetles as big as heavy trucks or crocodiles as long as two Rolls-Royces with six eyes.

”Prepare for battle... Attack!”

”Haah——!!”

Following Natsuse’s command, only seen was Mibu Asaka, who had a white headband tied around her head and dressed akin to a Japanese samurai, bursting out of the bushes like a storm. The intestinal creatures, seemingly caught off guard by her sudden appearance, were still not reacting as one who stood nearly five meters tall opened its eyes to gaze at this unexpected intruder. However, before it could react, a sharp Hua Stone-made blade easily cleaved its head into two. Before it fell, the petite girl had already dashed towards another target, with a swift motion.

”Roar——!!!”

At this moment, the attacked intestinal creatures began to retaliate; they spread out like a school of startled fish, frantically tearing at everything around them. Meanwhile, shadowy figures leaped out from the bushes, like sharks diving into a school of fish, starting to hunt their prey.

One mutated giant intestinal creature arched its body, suddenly pouncing towards the indiscriminately slaying figure in the distance. Just as it leaped into the air, a petite silhouette suddenly appeared in front of it, only to see Nobiru screaming loudly as she forcefully kicked with her right foot against the chest of the intestinal creature. In the next moment, this creature, comparable in size to a heavy truck, was instantly kicked into the air over ten meters high, and then Nobiru landed on the ground. The cute girl with twin pigtails opened her bright red glowing eyes wide, staring at her prey falling from the sky, and then leaped high again.

”Snap!!!”

The body of the giant intestinal creature bent beyond the limits of physics at this moment, then broke in half. Nobiru, without hesitation, stepped on the head of the prey, crushing it with one foot. Then, like a meteor using the recoil force, she descended from the sky, rushing towards her next target.

”Bang!!”

A flash of fire suddenly appeared in the deep darkness of the forest.

Spinning bullets tore through the thick, solid shell of the intestinal creature’s chest like a battering ram, accompanied by a brilliant explosion, the massive intestinal creature howled as it fell to the ground. At the same time, other intestinal creatures, smelling blood like a swarm of sharks, quickly surged towards the source of the sound.

”Screech——!!”

The shrill cries echoed through the jungle, and Tina paid them no heed. She knew well that in jungle combat with intestinal creatures, one should avoid using flash and explosives as much as possible, lest their attention be provoked, resulting in endless troubles. However, this time, Tina did not choose to retreat; instead, she skillfully pulled the rifle bolt once more and then locked onto another massive silhouette under the night sky, pulling the trigger.

”Bang!!!”

The gunshot sounded again, and the intestinal creatures, hearing the noise, became increasingly agitated, moving in groups like a tide towards the source of the sound.

A shadow quietly appeared at the side of the intestinal creatures.

Fumie Busei stood on a tree branch, watching the Intestinal Creatures below. She then bent her body forward, making a prep move similar to a cat about to leap from the branch to the ground, before gently jumping forward.

”Whoosh!”

In the blink of an eye, a pitch-black fog of shadows instantly appeared, enveloping Fumie Busei’s figure. The girl vanished into thin air, and at the same time, a faint vibration in the air accompanied the screams of the Intestinal Creatures. Those creatures, previously charging forward in groups, suddenly halted—not exactly halted, but rather their bodies were severed from their heads at that moment, leaving only their remaining limbs and organs flying forward due to inertia. Their massive bodies crashed into the nearby trees and rocks like out-of-control vehicles.

Within a few seconds, dozens of Intestinal Creatures were completely dismembered, turning into a heap of broken remains. Afterwards, accompanied by a soft ”whoosh,” the black fog reappeared, and the silver-haired cat-eared girl stepped out, glanced around at the debris, and then vanished once again into the darkness.

”Tsk, tsk, tsk, this child is becoming more and more like Zelahtu. I see no problem with her transferring to a Dark Hall Knight in the future,”

Watching the scene through Nymph’s projection, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but express his feelings. He wondered if it was because of the influence of Shadow Dragon genes within the Zerg Gene, Fumie Busei also possessed a similar shadow teleportation ability after her Awakening. However, since this ability was accomplished through Psionic Folding Leap, Fang Zheng still saw it more akin to that of a Dark Hall Knight.

”Miss Fumie has a lot of talent in Psionic abilities.”

Nymph quietly focused on the battle while also not forgetting to respond to Fang Zheng’s sentiment.

”According to Mirune, her sensing ability in Psionics is second only to Miss Natsuse.”

”After all, not everyone can compare to a being with an IQ of 320.”

Facing Nymph’s response, Fang Zheng could only smile wryly. Natsuse’s high IQ was indeed unprecedented, not to mention her comprehension and analytical abilities were frighteningly strong. In fact, according to Nymph, Natsuse was the only one who could keep up with the learning at Synapsus Technology. This meant that it probably wouldn’t be long before another Nymph would appear by his side.

Not just Natsuse, the Coordinators’ basic IQ and analytical abilities were generally several times higher than those of regular humans; these children were still under ten years of age but had already mastered all the knowledge content relevant to high school stages fluently. Of course...that also depended on personality.

For someone like Nobiru, who had a lively personality and didn’t much like studying, the progress was just a little bit behind...

”Since the combat started, it has been twenty minutes now, with a total of three hundred and forty-eight Intestinal Creatures exterminated; everything is normal, no problems,”

”I feel like I’ve completely cultivated a bunch of Star Spirits...”

Although he had anticipated it, Fang Zheng still couldn’t help feeling sentimental when he received the confirmation from Nymph. Including Fang Zheng and Nymph, there were ten people participating in the combat. He and Nymph were responsible for cover, while Natsuse took charge of commanding from the rear, meaning only seven people were actually fighting on the frontline. The fact that seven Coordinators could eliminate over three hundred Intestinal Creatures in ten minutes was exceptionally impressive, even akin to possessing the strength of a thousand.

Of course, Fang Zheng would not let the girls go into battle without any training. In fact, during this period, he not only had the Swarm and these girls practice, familiarizing them with the atmosphere and methods of combat on the battlefield, but he had also specifically brought Shana and Nanoka from the Void Domain to Heavenly Dao Palace to be responsible for training these children in combat skills.

Looking at it now, everything seemed to be going smoothly.

However.........

Glancing at the gloomy sky above, the corners of Fang Zheng’s mouth slightly curled up.

Those old guys in parliament must be getting restless now.
