Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 370: Chapter 369: Choosing Your Own Mirai

”...the situation is as such.”

Standing in the auditorium, looking down at the girls below, Fang Zheng calmly delivered the final sentence. Just now, he had summoned all the ”Cursed Children” to the Heavenly Dao Palace and announced to them the news that the Intestinal Virus could be treated. At the same time, Fang Zheng also informed them about the possible consequences of such a treatment, such as mutations occurring in their bodies when they released their powers, or even the emergence of certain unknown characteristics.

The reaction from the girls below was as Fang Zheng had anticipated – one of confusion and surprise. It was no wonder; each ”Cursed Child” knew why they were feared by others – it was because once the infection rate of the Intestinal Virus in their bodies exceeded fifty percent, they would turn into man-eating creatures. Now, Fang Zheng was telling them that there was a way to solve this issue, but the price was that they might become less human...

”I am not asking each one of you to undergo adjustment and treatment immediately.”

Watching the girls’ reactions, Fang Zheng continued.

”As I said, although this treatment can theoretically solve the issue, it is, after all, just a theory. The reason I am telling you this is because I need your understanding and cooperation. I need a few volunteers to assist me with experiments in order to judge the final effect of this treatment. Of course, I can understand your anxiety. If you aren’t willing, I will still look for other methods...”

Fang Zheng did not lie – these were the only things the Zerg could do, representing the pinnacle of biotechnology. If the ”Cursed Children” were unwilling to accept this method, then Fang Zheng’s next search would only rely on something akin to ”miracle” magic for healing.

However, such ”miraculous” magic was hard to find, and since every mission world was random, Fang Zheng could not guarantee when results would be available.

”...”

Facing Fang Zheng’s words, the ”Cursed Children” below showed wavering and bewildered expressions, whispering among themselves, clearly unsure of what to do. It was then that suddenly, a clear voice rang out.

”I am willing.”

Along with this voice, a girl with short yellow hair and two braids along her cheeks walked forward. There was not a trace of emotion on her face, but her grey eyes looking at Fang Zheng revealed an unwavering determination.

”Brother Fang Zheng is careful in informing us because he fears we might have concerns. Therefore, I trust Brother Fang Zheng will not harm us. I am willing to volunteer...”

”I remember you are...”

Looking at the girl in front of him, Fang Zheng was taken aback, and the girl smiled slightly at him.

”Senju Natsuyo... Brother Fang Zheng, I am a holder of the Dolphin Factor. I am willing to join the experiment.”

”I am willing too...”

At this moment, on the other side, Fumie Busei shyly raised her hand.

”I also trust big brother... Fumie Busei, holder of the Cat Factor, am willing to join this experiment.”

”I am willing as well.”

Perhaps influenced by Senju Natsuyo and Fumie Busei, other girls who were initially hesitant appeared to have made their decisions. Soon, a girl with short red hair stepped forward.

”Red Dew Firefly, I am a holder of the Oriental Snail Gene. Mr. Fang Zheng rescued us and now gives us a chance for rebirth; of course, I will not refuse.”

”Me too...”

On another side, a girl with golden hair yawned and unsteadily raised her hand.

”Tina Sprout... holder of the Owl Factor. It was big brother who saved me from the operating table, and I believe big brother will be gentler than Professor Rand...”

As she said this, Tina blinked her large eyes, a blush appearing on her face with a trace of shyness as she looked at Fang Zheng.

”And... big brother, if the experiment fails, would you be willing to take care of me for the rest of my life?”

”Eh...?”

”In that case...”

For some reason, after Tina made this request, the other ”Cursed Children” suddenly became excited; even in the dim auditorium, Fang Zheng could see their eyes beginning to emit a radiant red glow!

Although it was known that Cursed Children’s eyes became red when they were emotionallly agitated, this was...

The next moment, the girls below one after another began urgently raising their hands.

”I, I am willing too!”

”Me too!!”

”Count me in... Big brother, please definitely consider me!”

”................”

Watching the scene before him, Fang Zheng found himself unable to even sigh.

The result was quite good, but was there something a little off about their motivations?

Even though the process was a bit childish, in the end, the ”Cursed Children” were still willing to accept Fang Zheng’s request. Of course, Fang Zheng hadn’t planned to immediately adjust and treat all of them. As he had said, he needed to first identify several specific individuals and see the results of treatment before proceeding. Naturally, these representatives were not chosen at random.

The Intestinal Virus within the bodies of ”Cursed Children” already mixed with a variety of life genes from Earth. Therefore, the ones Fang Zheng selected were naturally representatives of this group.

And the first batch of experimental subjects was quickly assembled.

Owl gene bearer—Tina Sprout.

Cat gene bearer—Fumie Busei.

Dolphin gene bearer—Senju Natsuyo.

Beetle gene bearer—Mibu Asaka.

Oriental Snail gene bearer—Red Dew Firefly.

Rabbit gene bearer—Aohara Enju.

With that, creatures that flew in the sky, ran on the ground, swam in the water, and both carnivores and herbivores were all accounted for...

”Even though you already know, I still have to say it again.”

Fang Zheng put down the list in his hands and looked at the row of girls in front of him.

”This is not a mandatory experiment, if any of you feel uneasy, you may opt out.”

”Having made my decision, I’ve never thought about withdrawing.”

The first to respond was Senju Natsuyo. The girl’s face was almost devoid of expression, but her tone was very gentle and warm.

”That day, it was Brother Fang Zheng who rescued me from the hell engulfed in flames, and at that moment, I resolved that it didn’t matter if my life was given over to Brother Fang Zheng. I was already such a Cursed Child, not needed by anyone, only able to despair as I waited to one day turn into an Intestinal Creature and die. But now... it’s Brother Fang Zheng who has given me hope...”

The other ”Cursed Children” didn’t speak, but their faces also showed the same determination. Seeing the look in the girls’ eyes, Fang Zheng could only smile bitterly and shake his head.

”Alright, you’ve convinced me. Next, I’ll take you to the place where the experiment will occur... Hmm, I hope you won’t be too surprised.”

”Mr. Fang Zheng, where are we going to carry out the experiment?”

Hearing this, the lively Aohara Enju with twin ponytails raised her hand and asked curiously.

”It’s not going to be in the Tokyo Urban Area, right? Or in uncharted territory?”

”Neither.”

In response to Aohara Enju’s query, Fang Zheng smiled slightly.

”Trust me, you will definitely be surprised.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng reached out and opened the Teleportation Gate.
