Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 387: Chapter 386 Finally, it’s time for me to make an appearance.

”Nymph, what’s that?”

Watching the distant battlefield, Fang Zheng asked. Although those spears of light flying across the sky appeared to be lasers, Fang Zheng didn’t think so. He had spent some time in this world now, and while those Intestinal Creatures looked like monsters straight out of a science fiction movie, their essence was still rooted in Earth’s animal genes; meaning these Intestinal Creatures may spit venom or release flying spines. However, they would definitely not breathe fireballs or shoot lasers from their eyes... His side could release Psionic because of the enhancement from the Zerg Gene, but what was the reason on the other side?

”That’s mercury, Master.”

”I see, high-pressure mercury ejection? Nature is truly miraculous.”

Upon learning that the Spear of Light wasn’t some Ultraman’s beam attack, Fang Zheng didn’t say much more. However, it wouldn’t do to keep going like this; although Natsuse and the others had undergone training to deal with high-altitude bombardment and shooting, and the Psionic Shield could protect them from harm, this would slow down the pace of the entire battlefield.

With that thought, Fang Zheng gripped the Vampire Greatsword in his hand.

It was time for him to make a move.

”Eh?”

Meanwhile, at the same time, Natsuse, who was fighting on the front lines, was taken aback after receiving a message from Nymph.

”Brother Fang Zheng is going to make a move?”

”What? Brother Zheng is going to fight too?”

Since Natsuse was connected through the Swarm’s telepathic network, her speaking naturally was heard by the others, and Fumie Busei, after getting the message, was also surprised. In fact, not just her, all the Cursed Children were astonished. They had been with Fang Zheng for some time, and many Cursed Children had seen Fang Zheng fighting with IISO to rescue them. However, to these Cursed Children, their impression of Fang Zheng’s power was quite vague.

Essentially, Fang Zheng’s method of dealing with IISO was for Nymph to hack into the enemy’s electronic devices to paralyze them, followed by Fang Zheng directly suppressing them with Dragon Might, then using the Forbidden Whip to give a ”little lesson” to some ”disobedient” ones, and finally walking away with the Cursed Children. The whole process was quite ”peaceful”, to the point that in the end, it turned into IISO personnel seeing Fang Zheng standing in the middle of the road to stop a car, they would decisively stop the car and then turn around and leave... After all, they couldn’t win, so why bother going up to suffer?

Because of this, in the minds of most Cursed Children, Fang Zheng’s strength had always been a question mark. Some even thought that Fang Zheng might be very powerful, but... in any case, he was very strong.

That was roughly their perception.

Even Tina, Fumie Busei, and Natsuse felt the same. Every time they went out to hunt Intestinal Creatures, Fang Zheng was basically just tagging along in the back, essentially never taking action. And now... Brother Zheng was actually going to take action?

”Natsuse.”

”Brother Fang Zheng.”

Turning her head in surprise at Fang Zheng, who appeared beside her, Natsuse was using Psionic to resist the attack of the Intestinal Creatures. Fang Zheng reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder.

”You’ve worked hard. Take a break to the side; leave these creatures to me.”

”Ah, okay, Brother Fang Zheng.”

Facing Fang Zheng’s command, Natsuse hurriedly nodded and then put down her hands and walked to the side. At this moment, Natsuse was also sweating profusely; even though she possessed the strength comparable to an Advanced Templar, the continuous use had left her somewhat fatigued. But as the front-line commander, Natsuse couldn’t retire and rest like the others, which was why she had persisted until now.

But now that Brother Fang Zheng was here, she didn’t need to push herself so hard anymore.

Standing beside Fang Zheng, Natsuse watched his figure with an expression full of trust, while her heart was filled with curiosity—how would Brother Fang Zheng deal with these Intestinal Creatures?

It was about time.

Looking at the Intestinal Creatures in front of him, Fang Zheng slowly raised the Vampire Greatsword in his hand. Among the moves he had created, there was one specifically designed for large-scale AOE combat. Of course, Fang Zheng had only theoretically executed this move; in reality—in front of so many young girls, he couldn’t afford to embarrass himself.

Fang Zheng took a deep breath, then gripped the greatsword in his hands and looked ahead. Soon, the power of the Shadow began to flow through him. At this time, Natsuse, standing beside Fang Zheng, also widened her eyes in confusion, because she could feel that just a moment ago, Brother Fang Zheng beside her suddenly seemed different!

If Fang Zheng on a normal day gave Natsuse a feeling of warmth and approachability, then the Fang Zheng now gave her the feeling of those exalted figures––no, not just that. In Natsuse’s heart, those figures probably couldn’t compare to the feeling Brother Fang Zheng was giving her now. The reason Natsuse feared those figures was because of their status and position. Whereas at this moment, Natsuse felt just by looking at Fang Zheng, there was an urge to kneel before him. It wasn’t out of fear, but some kind of instinctual, seemingly heartfelt submission.

Fang Zheng raised the Vampire Greatsword in his hands, his gaze growing ever more solemn.

”Second Sword.”

Accompanied by a soft shout, Fang Zheng swung the greatsword downward.

”...............”

There was no response.

In front of Fang Zheng, those Intestinal Creatures continued to advance, and Fang Zheng’s strike didn’t even make the slightest sound, appearing as if he carelessly swung his sword like in a movie scene. If someone saw this on a screen, they might think Fang Zheng was just acting.

But Natsuse wouldn’t think that way, because just now, when Fang Zheng raised his weapon, she felt a terrifying sense of palpitations, as if she were bound up and walked despairingly up thirteen steps, waiting to be beheaded.

As Fang Zheng’s sword came down, Natsuse felt her fear reach its peak. Although nothing happened at that moment, she felt as though she saw a cold blade descending from the sky, about to split her in two!

Fang Zheng maintained the action of swinging down his sword, and then, within five seconds, Natsuse suddenly saw a blur before her eyes, followed by a scene she would never forget.

In front of Fang Zheng, those Intestinal Creatures about to breach the defense line burst instantly, turning into chunks of flesh that scattered in all directions. From a distance, one could even see the dense army of Intestinal Creatures being split down the middle by a giant invisible longsword at that moment.

”This, what is this...”

Staring dumbfounded at this scene, Natsuse was at a loss for words, because she had been using Psionic detection on the entire battlefield, which is why she could see more clearly than anyone else what Fang Zheng had just done. If compared to cheese, Fang Zheng’s single strike was like a knife that cleanly cut the cheese in half!

Just one sword strike had penetrated the entire battlefield!!

But this was not the end.

Fang Zheng once again turned the blade around, and Natsuse couldn’t see what he did next. She only felt as if two blurry afterimages appeared before her eyes––and then, a dazzling lightning burst forth like roaring waves, turning the world in front of her pure white. At that moment, the girl couldn’t hear any sounds, see any images, her world seemed to lose all color, the oncoming flash even melted the lines of the shadows, to the point where for an instant, Natsuse even wondered if she too would disappear in this white radiance.

Everything vanished.

When Natsuse regained her senses, her surroundings were deathly silent, whether the roaring of the Intestinal Creatures or any other sounds seemed to have completely disappeared at that moment, without even a trace of an echo left behind. What appeared before Natsuse were only some peculiar colors and shadows, looking like the ghosts she had heard about in her childhood––until Natsuse blinked, and then she realized that was the afterimage left on her retina from the bright light.

”Natsuse! What just happened?”

”Did Brother do that?”

At that time, the previously silent telepathic network started to boil once again, and receiving inquiries from her companions through Telepathy, Natsuse finally breathed a sigh of relief. She looked ahead again––there, aside from Fang Zheng, there were no standing beings left. Those fearsome, raging Intestinal Creatures, without exception, had all turned into pitch-black char.

Seeing this, Natsuse took a deep breath and finally forced herself to calm down.

”That’s right.”

She replied then.

”It was Brother Fang Zheng who did it.”
