Chapter 356: Chapter 355: Temporarily Solved Problem

“What the hell are you bastards trying to do?”

As Nymph’s voice had barely fallen, the Stonehammer Dwarf immediately raised his axe, pointing it at Huck who stood before him, and Molly silently drew an arrow she had just plucked from the body of another creature, aiming at the enemy before her. Regardless of who they were, the mere fact that these scoundrels dared to bring something imbued with the stench of necromancy to the Peak of Ice and Snow was enough to warrant their expulsion from this place.

“We… we don’t know anything!”

Faced with this sudden turn of events, Hucks and his companions’ complexions drastically changed. Though he disdained Hailien and the others, it didn’t mean he wished to make enemies of races such as the elves and dwarves, whose influence on the continent was significant despite their usual detachment from worldly affairs. Even if these dwarves decided to tie him up and roast him for dinner, the Kingdom of Flame would probably only send someone to rebuke them, let alone punish the dwarves—Against such an almost reclusive race, they had no means of imposing sanctions, except for direct military engagement.

And of course, direct military engagement was out of the question, as he was no significant figure in the Kingdom of Flame.

So at this moment, Huck spinelessly chose to capitulate. He did not believe that Mr. Fang Zheng would frame him in such a clumsy manner, and if there truly were necromancer items involved, then even if he completed the commission, the trouble would be immense!

“We really don’t know anything, we just accepted a commission and then came here to place the item on the Stormy Platform at the Peak of Ice and Snow……”

“How were you to confirm the completion of your task?”

“The other party said that as soon as we opened the box when we arrived at the location, it would automatically show that the task was complete……”

As Huck spoke, he couldn’t help but shiver, clearly realizing the problem. If indeed the box contained a fearsome necromancer item, they might have had their souls snatched away the moment they opened it, dying on the spot… After all, if there were truly something wrong with the item, it would clearly not be in their best interest to let them live! Destroying the evidence after completing the task… Huck had heard of such things before! frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

“Who is your commissioner?”

At this point, not only did Mr. Fang Zheng sense something was amiss, but Fina also curiously leaned in to inquire.

“It’s… it’s the Heifarith Guild!”

“Impossible!”

Upon hearing this answer, Fina and the others were even more astonished.

“Our commissioner is also the Heifarith Guild!”

“Impossible!”

This time, Huck and Bolt were also dumbstruck. According to the assessment rules, a commissioner is only allowed to issue one commission, much less two different commissions simultaneously!

This was a violation!

“Show us your commission letter.”

Mr. Fang Zheng appeared quite calm; after all, he was assured of his standing through backdoor influence, and he was certain to pass regardless. Hearing Mr. Fang Zheng speak, Huck calmed down and took out the commission letter from his breast pocket and opened it, while Fina also took her own commission letter from her bag, comparing it with the other party’s. Then, both parties stood there flabbergasted.

“This… The steel stamps are all official, the seal has no issues, and even the handwriting is the same?”

Not only Fina but Huck himself was taken aback—the commission letters, aside from having different target content, were identical in every other aspect including the steel stamp, the signature, and the seal!

“Where did you get these items from?”

Mr. Fang Zheng took another look at the box, suspecting it was something acquired from the White Tower. Even Nymph could detect the hidden aura of necromancy on it, so it was unlikely that the people of the White Tower wouldn’t inspect the items meant for commission. Otherwise, if someone placed a time bomb inside, wouldn’t that be a senseless death?

“We only received this box after we arrived here, from the Heifarith Guild…”

“Didn’t the Heifarith Guild move away a month ago?”

Hailien also felt surprisingly puzzled at this point.

“Where did you receive the goods from?”

“Yes, it was a person who claimed to be a member of the Heifarith Guild, he had the badge and identification documents of the Heifarith Guild, and as soon as we got there, he handed us the box…”

“We shall do this then,”

Thinking so, Fang Zheng made his decision.

“For the time being, I will keep this box. As soon as we confirm the task is complete, we will immediately return to the White Tower, and have the Archmages carefully inspect what exactly is inside. Of course, regarding your mission, I can speak to the White Tower and the Order Alliance to let you graduate early. How does that sound?”

Fang Zheng felt that he still wielded this bit of influence. If there was indeed something very dangerous inside the box, then intercepting it could help avoid a scandal for the Order Alliance, especially since if something went wrong with the Order Alliance’s exam task on alien race territory, that would indeed be troublesome.

Of course, for Fang Zheng, the main reason he was willing to get involved in this matter was that beneath the Peak of Ice and Snow lay the Forest of Life, and he had had intimate contact with the elves of the Elf Village there. Although strictly speaking there was no particularly deep affection between them, Fang Zheng wasn’t the sort who turned his back after getting out of bed and dressing. Within his capabilities, he was still willing to help the elves stay away from danger.

“This…”

Facing Fang Zheng’s request, after thinking it over, Hucks finally nodded. Although he was arrogant, he wasn’t brainless, and certainly not foolish enough to create a conflict with a Holy Spirit Knight, especially given that the origin of the problem might very well lie on his own side.

“Alright, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

While speaking, Hucks handed over the box in his hand.

“Be careful!”

Just at that moment, Nymph suddenly blinked, and her bracelet on her wrist shattered instantly with a “snap”, and a transparent magic barrier immediately enveloped Fang Zheng and Hucks within it. The sudden transformation startled Hucks, causing him to instinctively retract his right hand holding the box. But at that moment, suddenly, a figure emerged out of thin air from the side, reaching out for the box in Hucks’ hand!

Such quick speed!

Seeing this eerie figure, Fang Zheng was also taken aback. And by this time, the figure had already collided head-on with the magic barrier erected by Nymph, shattering it as if it were glass under the force of the impact. The figure continued its unstoppable charge forward.

It was either coincidence or fortune that, due to the sudden appearance of the barrier, Hucks subconsciously pulled back his hand holding the box, thwarting the figure from taking it.

“Who’s there!”

In that moment, Fang Zheng bellowed in anger, and his Time Domain instantly unfurled around the figure. Soon, both the air and time began to solidify, to halt. Yet the figure managed to pause only slightly under the tremendous power of time and then broke free from the confines of Fang Zheng’s Time Domain as if it were a wild horse that had lost its reins!

But that wasn’t the end!

“—————!!”

The moment he sensed impending trouble, Fang Zheng did not hesitate to unleash his Dragon Might, and at the same time, with a flash of light in his hand, the Vampire Greatsword appeared, striking the vague, elusive shadow with a whooshing sound.

The Dragon Race’s imposing pressure once again demonstrated its powerful dominion in that moment. Under the suppression of the Dragon Might, the figure staggered violently, losing its original balance. Simultaneously, the Vampire Greatsword in Fang Zheng’s hand slash down with a trail of silvery light.

“Clang!!!”

Accompanied by a crisp clashing sound, Fang Zheng saw only a dark shadow flash by before a thick spurt of fresh red blood burst into the air. But in the blink of an eye, that eerie, blurry figure swiftly retreated like a ghost, disappearing into the shadow of the mountain cliff.
