Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 391: Chapter 390: That Sword Piercing the Sky

”Where did Brother Zheng go?”

A petite figure flickered in the darkness and then vanished, reappearing only when an Intestinal Creature, which resembled a giant bear, had been sliced into several pieces. Fumie Busei agilely dodged the splashing blood and came to Natsuse’s side with an uneasy inquiry.

Just moments ago, they had been ready to face a life-or-death battle with those terrifying Intestinal Creatures. The Taurus and the Zodiac Belt were not completely unknown to the girls. After all, they were Cursed Children who had spent many years in this world and knew about the Intestinal Creatures. Although they knew their adversaries marked the onset of the Intestinal War and were the dreadful monsters that had brought destruction to humanity, as long as Fang Zheng was by their sides, the Cursed Children like Natsuse felt no fear or dread.

Even though the number of opponents was unexpectedly large and even included flying units, the girls had resolved that they would stop these Intestinal Creatures from advancing even if it cost them their lives.

What they hadn’t anticipated was that the horrifying Taurus and the Intestinal Creatures surrounding it disappeared in the blink of an eye. Even Fang Zheng had vanished without a trace!

What had happened?

For the first time, the girls, who wouldn’t waver even if faced with hundreds of Intestinal Creatures, felt panic and unease—they were, after all, just children. Their courage before had hinged entirely on being with Fang Zheng. Now, with his sudden disappearance, these Cursed Children felt like children who just realized their parents were not by their sides and started to panic.

Could it be that Brother Fang Zheng was eaten by an Intestinal Creature? Or was he injured?

”I don’t know where Brother Fang Zheng is, but Sister Nymph told us not to worry,”

Sensing the others’ wavering and unease, Natsuse hurriedly soothed everyone through the psychic network, though she herself was incredibly nervous, arguably even more so than the others. It was Natsuse who had seen Fang Zheng wave his Longsword before her eyes, then disappear into thin air.

This had certainly given Natsuse a huge shock. Almost immediately, she contacted Sister Nymph, who fortunately appeared calm and even reassured her not to panic...

”Don’t worry, Midori. Brother Fang Zheng just went to eliminate the Taurus. There won’t be a problem.”

For the first time, Natsuse was so grateful for her lack of expression that when she looked at Fumie Busei, whose eyes were brimming with tears, she found herself unexpectedly composed. Just moments ago, when Fang Zheng and the Taurus disappeared before her eyes, Natsuse felt as though she was sinking into the depths of a bottomless swamp.

At that instant, she couldn’t tell up from down; her mind went blank, her hands were sweaty.

Had an Intestinal Creature attacked her then, she would have likely been unable to react at all and just been devoured.

Fortunately, Natsuse was the only one who had witnessed Fang Zheng’s disappearance; the others had only realized something was wrong afterward. Because of this, the Cursed Children still managed to fight somewhat. Had they all seen Brother Zheng disappear like she did... Natsuse dared not think what their reaction might be.

For the Cursed Children, Fang Zheng was their only hope. When they were desperately struggling in this pitch-black world to climb out of the clutches of the dark morass, it was only Fang Zheng who reached out his hand to them. He pulled them from those dark depths, and thereafter, they enjoyed sunlight, warmth, and a beautiful life beyond anything they could have dreamed.

The feelings of the Cursed Children towards Fang Zheng were not all the same; some saw him as a parent, others as a brother, and there were those like Natsuse and Fumie Busei who hoped to marry him, entrusting their tender love to him.

But no matter what, to the Cursed Children, Fang Zheng was their irreplaceable one. Although Sister Black Katie, Sister Nymph, and Sister Tilia were also very kind to them, had it not been for Fang Zheng rescuing them, they would never have had what they had at that moment.

It was precisely for this reason that when Fang Zheng suddenly vanished, these children grew so incredibly anxious. Even Natsuse was on the verge of bursting into tears.

There was no shame in that, after all, a child would likewise cry and scream if their parents weren’t by their side.

”Everyone, don’t worry. Brother Fang Zheng is fine. He will defeat Taurus and return safely...”

More than persuading others, Natsuse’s words seemed aimed at convincing himself. And under his reassurance, the other Cursed Children gradually calmed down. Although they were still somewhat worried, they barely managed to fend off the continued attacks from the Intestinal Creatures. Fortunately, when Fang Zheng activated the Sealing, he devoured most of Stage IV along with Taurus, leaving only a few Intestinal Creatures below Stage III, which posed no real threat to the Cursed Children.

But as time ticked by, the absence of Fang Zheng’s figure meant the pressure was mounting on these children.

”...Has Brother Fang Zheng not come back yet? Natsuse?”

Even Tina, who was anxious, raised the question over the psychic network. Being a sniper, Tina was often the most composed among all her companions, yet even she couldn’t help herself now.

”Something must have gone wrong. What would I do if something happened to Fang Zheng! I had promised to spend my life with Fang Zheng!”

”Sigh...”

Hearing Nobiru’s loud cries, Natsuse sighed deeply, wishing she could block the psychic network right now.

”...Nobiru, Brother Fang Zheng never made that promise with you.”

”I made that promise in my dreams; there is absolutely no mistake!”

That’s definitely questionable!

Hearing Nobiru’s confident response, the corner of Natsuse’s eye twitched slightly. Then she raised her hand, and quickly, the vivid green Psionic power appeared again in Natsuse’s hand. The girl expressionlessly watched the Intestinal Creature with eight legs rushing toward her, then forcefully thrust her hand forward.

”Zzzap—————!!”

The dazzling green Psionic turned into a straight beam of light that swept across and turned the Intestinal Creature in front of her into char.

Really, why hasn’t Brother Fang Zheng come back yet?

Although deep down she always told herself it was fine and that she should trust Brother Fang Zheng, if things went on like this, even Natsuse couldn’t help feeling restless.

”..........”

Just then, suddenly, the ground began to tremble slightly.

What was that?

In the first instant, Natsuse thought it might be another powerful Intestinal Creature appearing. But when she looked up and around, she noticed the Intestinal Creatures had stopped in their tracks. Not only were they not advancing, but in Natsuse’s eyes, they seemed to sense some danger and were beginning to slowly retreat?!

”—————!!”

Before Natsuse could react, suddenly, a bursting sound filled the air. Immediately after, the world in front of Natsuse started to rotate and shatter like a kaleidoscope, the original scene before her eyes seeming to split into several screens. The same plain, yet in Natsuse’s eyes, was rapidly rotating and displaying different scenes.

Bustling, busy streets.

Ruins blazing with roaring fires.

A pitch-black wilderness.

An ice field covered with snow.

A battlefield filled with Intestinal Creatures.

A graveyard littered with corpses.

Time seemed to become chaotic at that moment, making the scenes before Natsuse’s eyes dizzyingly confusing, and then—suddenly, the entire world turned pitch black.

”What is... that?”

Natsuse lifted her head to look at the top of the sky, where a blade shining with a silvery white radiance was suspended in the air. Then, in Natsuse’s eyes, it suddenly plummeted towards the ground, plunging straight down.

”Boom!!!”

The moment the Light Blade hit the ground, everything around seemed to shatter completely in a massive burst. A fierce wind rushed towards her, causing Natsuse to close her eyes and take a few steps back. But when she opened her eyes again, the scene before her completely stunned her.

The plain was still the same plain, those Intestinal Creatures were still there, and not just them, even the previously disappeared Taurus and its comrades had somehow returned to this world.

But, none of that mattered, what mattered was the enormous clock hovering above their heads.

”Click.”

The giant clock, as if embedded in the sky, almost covered the majority of the night sky, this surreal scene not only left Natsuse and other Cursed Children dumbstruck, even His Majesty and others were utterly astonished. Although this battle had produced enough surreal scenes already, but... what exactly was going on?

”Click.”

The second hand of the clock moved forward again, and at this moment, including Taurus, all the Intestinal Creatures began to struggle frantically, as if crushed by an invisible mountain, unable to move no matter how much they struggled.

”Click.”

As the hand ticked once more, this time, a phantom figure appeared in the sky. It looked like a Giant Dragon that could devour heaven and earth, its eyes coldly gazing at the insignificant ants below. Feeling the gaze of the Giant Dragon, the Intestinal Creatures stopped struggling and started to tremble.

”Click.”

The air seemed to solidify at that moment, as if the chime of the apocalypse was about to ring.

”Click.”

Then, the hand reached its designated position.

And the world, at that moment, shattered.

The Intestinal Creatures began to wail and scream, their bodies as if pierced by countless transparent, sharp blades were torn apart, and the blood that spurted from them was frozen in the air. The massive body of Taurus tensed as if attempting to resist something. But just then, the hand hanging in the sky rapidly reversed, followed by countless rays of golden light falling from the sky like a downpour, piercing precisely through the massive body of Taurus.

The entire world, became serene.
