Chapter 393: Chapter 392: The Cursed Child Is the Chosen One?

Fang Zheng rested leisurely in the Heavenly Dao Palace, while the situation in the Tokyo Special Zone had turned into something entirely different.

”Sigh...”

Gazing at the mountain of documents in front of her, the Holy Son pressed her forehead and sighed softly.

Truth be told, the defeat of the Taurus Legion was good news for the whole world, but the problem lay in... the power displayed by the Heavenly Dao Palace during the process.

Anyone who had witnessed that battle knew all too well that their pride, the Army, had served no purpose in annihilating the Taurus Legion; it was entirely the Cursed Children who had fended off the Intestinal Creatures. However, the issue was... the power unleashed by the Cursed Children in the battle had thoroughly exceeded everyone’s imagination.

Before this battle, their understanding of the Cursed Children’s combat abilities was limited to using more powerful weapons than ordinary people or being able to skillfully wield that formidable power to brandish swords and kill Intestinal Creatures—nothing more than that.

But what did they witness?

Lightning, storms, thunder... so much so that many people began to doubt whether they were still sane at all.

Do they really live in a normal world?

That’s why the current internal view of the Heavenly Dao Palace within the Tokyo Special Zone had changed.

The Holy Son understood that the parliament had already made a decision to reject the Cursed Child Protection Act, on the grounds of disrupting order within the Tokyo Special Zone, following the elimination of the Taurus Legion—these politicians had been planning accordingly from the start, after all, their previous free rein on the Cursed Child Act and lack of intervention were for this reason. In their view, it was a perfect, legitimate opportunity to oust the Heavenly Dao Palace from the Tokyo Special Zone.

After all, to the Tokyo Special Zone, the Heavenly Dao Palace’s role was merely to defend the city; now that the crisis posed by the Intestinal Creatures has been resolved, it’s time for this unruly mad dog to be kicked out.

But now, many people had changed their minds.

Because the power demonstrated by the Heavenly Dao Palace had completely surpassed their expectations, becoming hostile to an organization with such terrifying power was a rather risky move for many.

The higher-ups in the Tokyo Special Zone now had three views on the Heavenly Dao Palace. Led by the military, the hardliners insisted on severing cooperation with the Heavenly Dao Palace and abolishing the Cursed Child Protection Act. They believed that the power of the Heavenly Dao Palace threatened their control over the Tokyo Special Zone and that they must promptly curb this momentum.

They weren’t afraid of the Heavenly Dao Palace’s retribution, with many confidently declaring that should the Heavenly Dao Palace dare to attack the Tokyo Special Zone over this, they could present themselves as victims to the world, exposing the true nature of the Heavenly Dao Palace as a fearsome organization to all.

The Holy Son was left speechless by these ideas. Was this the kind of organization that would fear their threats, considering it was one that dared to confront the IISO?

On the opposite end of the military’s hardliners were the conservatives, who were genuinely frightened by the power of the Heavenly Dao Palace. Not only did they disagree with the hardliners, but they also sought to maintain as good a relationship as possible with the Heavenly Dao Palace. But these people had no good intentions either—the Holy Son was well aware that they coveted the power of the Heavenly Dao Palace, even desiring to form a collaboration or even an alliance with it if possible.

After all, with such a formidable force at their back, the influence of the Tokyo Special Zone in the world would greatly increase, and those politicians who always put self-interest first would certainly not miss these opportunities.

The rest could be said to be the steady—or fence-sitting moderates, who didn’t have their own opinions and would lean towards whichever side had the upper hand. But ultimately...

Looking at the documents before her, the Holy Son sighed deeply. The struggle between the two factions wasn’t too fierce for the time being, but it had a profound impact. Most importantly, the conservatives even sent someone to hint that she should ”understand the bigger picture,”—the Holy Son clearly knew what they meant; she was only 16 years old, endowed with outstanding beauty, and had never been in love. If the Tokyo Special Zone wanted to establish stable ties with the Heavenly Dao Palace, then she, as a candidate for a political marriage, was most suitable.

But the Holy Son had a feeling that Fang Zheng didn’t harbor any desire for her; she had only met him a few times, and during those encounters, she couldn’t sense any of the desire or greed in his eyes that other men showed when they looked at her.

She had a premonition that even if the parliament really proposed this to Fang Zheng, he would probably just laugh it off and act as if he hadn’t heard anything.

Not to mention... there was an extremely troublesome matter at present...

”Report, Miss Tilia has arrived.”

”Please have her proceed to the conference room, I’ll be right there.”

Hearing the announcement from outside the door, the Holy Son took a deep breath and then stood up to walk towards the door.

Indeed, after that battle, Fang Zheng took the Cursed Children back to the Heavenly Dao Palace, and in his place, this girl named Tilia began to take charge of the Heavenly Dao Palace’s affairs in the Tokyo Special Zone. This time, the Holy Son had invited her over wanting an explanation on the powers the Cursed Children had displayed during the battle.

However... Miss Tilia was evidently not one to be trifled with either.

The Holy Son had met with her several times as well, and to be honest, seeing that Miss Tilia apparently looked a year or two younger than the Holy Son had taken her by surprise. However, the aura presented by Tilia made even the Holy Son feel somewhat inferior.

Lacking self-confidence and taking a people-friendly approach, the Holy Son’s image was generally that of being approachable. But Tilia was entirely different; although polite in her language and tone during their meetings, her attitude and expression carried the full sense of ”Speaking to me is already an honor for you, lowly commoners.”

What’s even more frustrating is that, according to reason, such an arrogant attitude should provoke dislike. But for some reason, in the face of that confidently assertive aura, one could only bow their head and respond with, ”Yes, you’re right, Young Lady.”

To be honest, the Holy Son had a certain envy of Tilia, although she had no intention of reaching that extent, she too wished she could be a bit more assertive. But...

Without Mr. Tiantong, she probably wouldn’t be good at anything...

With that thought, the Holy Son couldn’t help feeling despondent, yet she still forced herself to cheer up, left her room, and went to the conference room. There, the high-level representatives of the Tokyo Special Zone had already assembled, each wearing a serious expression, and even the air seemed tense.

”Miss Tilia is invited.”

Taking a glance at the people beside her, the Holy Son took a deep breath and then gave the order. Upon hearing her voice, everyone immediately straightened up, looking tense. Soon, the conference room’s door opened, and the girl, dressed in a pink dress and holding a sun umbrella, walked in.

”Welcome to the Holy Dwelling, Miss Tilia.”

Seeing Tilia, the Holy Son quickly stood up and spoke. Tilia glanced at her and then smiled slightly.

”It is indeed an honor to receive an invitation from the Holy Son... So, what important matter has led to my invitation to the Holy Dwelling this time?”

As expected...

Although Tilia’s tone and choice of words were very respectful, what shone through her azure eyes was only disdainful contempt for everyone present. The feeling was more like how a distinguished figure regards commoners, or even more like how humans perceive mice and ants.

”It’s like this, Miss Tilia.”

The Holy Son took a deep breath, then got straight to the point.

”I’m sorry to bother you amidst your busy schedule, but we are quite surprised by what happened during the battle with Taurus, those children... The power they displayed has exceeded the scope of our understanding. I would like to ask, how exactly did the Heavenly Dao Palace bestow such abilities upon those children?”

Upon hearing the Holy Son’s inquiry, everyone else also watched Tilia intently, having guessed that this must be the doing of the Heavenly Dao Palace. But only confirmation from someone from the Heavenly Dao Palace could put their minds at ease... no, rather, since the Heavenly Dao Palace could grant such powers to the Cursed Children, could it also give ordinary humans the same powers?

”What? I thought you had summoned me for some serious matter, it turns out it’s just for this? Humans really are an incurable bunch of fools.”

As if you’re not a human yourself!

Hearing Tilia’s disdainful reply, everyone else internally screamed in protest, but on the surface, they maintained their smiles as if they hadn’t heard her at all.

”Okay, although I’m not particularly interested, since Elder Brother has not instructed me to keep it a secret, there’s nothing I can’t talk about.”

Tilia sat in the chair, reached out to pick up a teacup, took a sip of the tea, frowned slightly, and then carelessly placed the teacup aside.

”Yes, those children indeed possess powers beyond themselves, but... that is because they are the Chosen Children of a deity, is there a problem with that?”

”What...?”

Hearing this, everyone, including the Holy Son, was dumbfounded.

Always, the Cursed Children had been symbols of loathing in this world, which is why they were called ”Cursed Children,” but Tilia was saying they are the Chosen Children of a deity?

”Miss Tilia, please don’t joke around, we are very serious!”

At that moment, a councilor also recovered from the shock and spoke up, very displeased. In his view, Tilia was blatantly spouting nonsense to fool them.

”I have no interest nor time to waste here joking with you, the power those children have is a gift bestowed upon them by the Deity... it’s as simple as that.”

With that, Tilia smiled faintly.

Her Elder Brother was the God of Creation, and those Cursed Children who caught his eye, were naturally the Chosen Ones of the Deity.

Is something wrong?

No, there’s absolutely nothing wrong at all!
